  3. Paul would be proud That happened to me a several times too. More than once, none of us were old enough to buy what we had and some of what we had wasn't legal, regardless of age. The police would breakup the party, a beer run was made and everyone would be back in 30 minutes...the lot of us were miscreants.

  6. During the visit we discovered that kodi loves the cat toy! Bought this for our 2 crazy rex brothers. Stoney played with it briefly and boney turned his back on it lol. I started calling her my little grubbie grub when she was a wee little puppy. Def fits in with our family. The grub that's a dog that loves the cat toy that she could easily crush/tear apart in seconds! Yet... she just turned 1 a couple months ago. Emma has her trained so well. In the middle of heated tug of war, one word will make her stop and drop. Absolutely love her. Emma and grubbie received_1859000144343351.mp4

  7. The first snow accumulation in Southeast Michigan. Everything's closed. After enjoying some freshly ground 8 O'Clock, it's outside to dig out. Fortunately, the storm held off until my son and I returned from DC with a U-Haul and got it unloaded into a storage unit. Only a few flurries as we passed through PA on the Turnpike on Saturday, but dry pavement.

  8. My interest in this hobby wanes at times and then something will spark my interest and it usually ends in me changing something. My Quicksilver Audio preamp that I bought used in 2006 is probably 20 years old at least. It is a "full function" pre meaning line stage and phono stage all in one box. Faced with the thought of one day replacing it I looked around on line yesterday. It seems few do it that way any longer. Separates for line stage and phono pre. What are you guys doing? Oppo? Bottlehead? Vintage rebuilds? Thought about rebuilding mine. One guy here is slammed as is Terry DeWick. I also emailed Mike Sanders at Quicksilver Audio. He will most likely tell me to buy a new one though I don't think he sells anything like mine still. Ideas?

  9. Jim Hunter arrives this afternoon with a pair of KI-396s, and an 1801 subwoofer to be loaned for the event next Saturday night marking the Inauguration Day for the Regional Music Heritage Center in Texarkana. He'll also be bearing a pair of newly minted Heresy's and a La Scala to be placed at the RMHC as the first...and most useful...part of what will become a display to honor PWK's legacy to the music world. PWK is the only non-musician, composer, or genre to be honored by the RMHC as his work advanced all of those, and more! The Klipschorns will be delivered "when it's time." Can't rush those through the skilled hands of our friends and neighbors at Hope! Hopefully, (no pun intended) I'll have the system set up with my '72 'horns in time for my son to man an "open house" so folks coming Saturday for the event will be able to see our wonderful, historic downtown building that awaits renovation in the new year. Thanks to KGI for their support! Dave

  13. Hey gang ...mostly chillin' and on-line shopping today. Chuck ... I think there are a number of pre-amps out there with good quality phono pre's built into them. I've been using a Parasound pre-amp the past few years with a phono built into it and have been very satisfied. If you can live with an integrated amp, Marantz has had some very decent built-in phono pre-amps. Good luck with your search. Cheers ya'll.

  17. Happy Monday! It's fun to see the winter pics rolling through (and I suppose the BBQ fare! ). Some of you have had more snow than we have recently - though it was 10 below this morning and we're having our furnace replaced today as well. (hurry, hurry, hurry!!) I'm done with the little amount of Christmas Shopping that I'm responsible for. I can "coast" into the next few weeks now... Does anyone else feel December is much more crazy than it used to be?! Office stuff, kids stuff, church stuff, family and extended family stuff... hard to say no to things, but I don't like looking forward to January either - I want to enjoy the moments here. On a side note we are enjoying a pair of RF 52's we picked up a couple of months ago from a friend who moved. It's helping my wife with her "shock" of having towers in the living room. After she's used to them, I'll try to move up a little bit to some Heritage Speakers. LaScala's would be a nice "next step" up.

  19. It has not snowed that much here in my lifetime. Should have stayed on the walkway and made the curve in the opposite direction just to see if anyone noticed. It does look pretty, especially looking at it at a current temp of 74.

  20. Not really they grow up at normal speed, were just getting old really fast. Our three are much closer to 40, I try to avoid it but every time I have to look in the mirror an old person is in there.

  23. yeah, I'd have been tempted to leave it off too. but in the spirit of having plausibile deniability, I probably would have printed the W & let it roll, snickering, giggling & texting the pic to my buds the hole time.

  27. Chuck, I use a Sunfire Theater Grand IV preamp. It has a built in phono input besides serving the multichannel set up. It's also what you might consider old though. Any hdmi connections I need are run straight to the video monitor.

  29. Thanks. I use BKF in the house, and of course thoroughly rinse.

  30. Bom Ami is a better choice as it uses feldspar and limestone as it's abrasive base. Both of these are softer than glass. BKF is much more abrasive and can etch glass if not thoroughly rinsed off.

  32. Playin a little Nazareth for my neighbors and wanting to decorate a bit for Nancy. The Chorus are soundin nice. Never had a problem at this location for maybe 17 years...never. Guess I need some more watts. Trying to get she and I in a merry mood, as the cooler weather starting to cooperate. After seeing the DD cups, thinking about a second cup. This time in the Currier & Ives cup. Mixing the mundane chores with some hairy merry music. Will be listening to Christmas music sooner than later. Reminds me of my mother/family. That is a good thing. Peace be unto you...

  34. The big game hunter walked in the bar and bragged to everyone about his hunting skills. The man was undoubtedly a good shot and no one could dispute that. But then he said that they could blindfold him and he would recognize any animal's skin from its feel, and if he could locate the bullet hole he would even tell them what calibre the bullet was that killed the animal. The hunter said that he was willing to prove it if they would put up the drinks, and so the bet was on. They blindfolded him carefully and took him to his first animal skin. After feeling it for a few moments, he announced "Bear." Then he felt the bullet hole and declared, "Shot with a .308 rifle." He was right. They brought him another skin, one that someone had in their car trunk. He took a bit longer this time and then said, "Elk, Shot with a 7mm Mag rifle. He was right again. Through the night, he proved his skills again and again, every time against a round of drinks. Finally he staggered home, drunk out of his mind, and went to sleep. The next morning he got up and saw in the mirror that he had one hell of a shiner. He said to his wife, "I know I was drunk last night, but not drunk enough to get in a fight and not remember it. Where did I get this blackeye?" His wife angrily replied, "I gave it to you. You got into bed and put your hand down my panties. Then you fiddled around a bit and loudly announced, "Skunk, killed with an axe."

  40. Thanks for the comments on the DD mugs...........When I get the darker mug, I will post and see what you all think... They are kind of reflective in a way, something in the glaze ?? Ok, enjoy the day..............back to Christmas decor setup... .............g PS. Music too loud? Remember my report of my good neighbor right behind me? Had my little system going on the deck and was really pushing it a bit, nice easy jazz, but at a good clip. I was out in the front of the house, and I could easily hear it echoing of the trees and such in the backyard! My neighbor stopped by while I was out cutting the grass.. he wanted to talk to me about the music.................he said at first that he and the wife LOVE my selections, BUT, when they are trying to enjoy their deck, and he has to step INSIDE the house to answer a cell call...........it is a bit to loud. Well, only have to be told once. I have been a quieter neighbor ever since and there have been no complaints over the past two summers...

  42. I would buy the largest and best center speaker you can fit in your space. I wouldn't worry too much about the rear ports, even an inch or two behind the speaker should be plenty of breathing room.

  44. Good Morning all. Enjoying the read here with a nice cup. Speaking of cups, those DD look inviting. BSM, all the best of fortune. dtel is onto a good thing. Opposite of depression is not happiness, it is vitality. Something I am trying to tap into. Told my brother recently that just a little peace and harmony is wanted. Happiness is then up to me given that circumstance. A little happiness goes a long way of late. Not always as philosophic, lately it is a balm for me. Played with the Spoiled Brats, 3 piece band. Uptown Tally with neighbors close, but friends . No cops, hard to figure though as 3 lane 1 way street just outside the door. Fast forward and the band is now out in the country playing party. County lawman said someone would be going to jail if he had to return. We wished him a goodnight... Tarheel, I am listening ATM to Eric B. Thanks for the pic.
