  2. Smoking some pork butts, I love them, just not how long they take. Between the 4 it's 37.5 pounds, will bring some to daughter, eat all I can and freeze the rest, it freezes well, good thing. They went on at 9:30, I will be lucky if they are done by midnight. It has not even melted off all the yellow mustard yet.

  3. Yes they are, I love a good butt. One thing that helps is I found an easy way to pull them, it's a SS shaft with a disc at the bottom with 5 shorter rods off the bottom. It goes in a cordless drill, you put the butts in a big pot and run the drill at full speed. It shreds 2 butts in about 1 Minute, which is much better than doing it manually. I say big pot because if it is not tall enough pork butt will be flying everywhere, our little dogs prefer the shorter pot.

  6. The funny thing about that photo is I have a turntable and a receiver set up also on a tea cart, except it is early American, and made of wood. The speakers, being Chorus IIs, were too big to fit...

But you eat like a bird, barely enough to taste, but it's how you stay in shape I guess, I need to go back to my diet, but not today. This is the same one you seen.

  16. They have no idea what they are in for, even at 15 wpc. When they change the rules to 5 wpc the poor kid with the electrostat speaker will not even be able to listen to the news on his stereo.

  19. OK it's what I thought, I have used a couple different ones like they sell for stepping stones and also in the brick pattern, they work great and kind of fun to make walkways with. What I was doing was filling with colored cement and lifting about a 1/2" or so and fill again with cement again, what this did was make the stones and when lifted and re filled it made a 1/2" base which tied them together and also made it where weeds would not grow between the stones, plus holding them together. I only used the for pathways. Do one, turn the pattern each time to fit and make it more random, works pretty good.

  25. Peter, please, I definitely share your displeasure, but this forum is meant for discussing quality audio (and ridiculing those who have no idea what that is). It's supposed to be a haven from all the crap going on in the world, political or otherwise.

  26. I posted a picture of my home cinema earlier. Finally took care of some unfinished business the last couple of weeks and added acoustic panels to the room and carpeted the elevated second row of seating. The room itself is now finished. Only intend to upgrade my projector. Loving the current sound of the setup. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

  28. It's not really much larger than a Heresy... Keven has a birth defect that rendered him about 3' tall... Everything else is an optical illusion... (including him punching me in the nose for calling him a munchkin)

  29. You can use a XO of 70 ot 80 Hz for all speakers. The gain on the sub is to high. That is why auto EQ is setting the sub to -15. Lower the gain to get near -5 db. It also sounds like you have the auto/on feature activated. Just turn the sub on and leave it on all the time. It won't make the electric bill go up. It is annoying having it keep clicking in and out during movies.

  32. While reading fiction may not please one, it should be apparent by its effect on others that it is not "useless". Mortimer Adler's book, "How to Read a Book" might be a "useful" non-fiction read for someone who thinks that fiction is "useless". This is neither a flippant recommendation, nor a scathing one. The book is a guide for enhancing the "usefulness" of books of all kinds. SSH

  34. I totally agree about Citizen Kane. Then again, most here know my general attitude about "film." I would be hard pressed to name a best or even favorite American novel, but Moby Dick certainly left an impression. I like Faulkner, too. I suppose our favorites reveal something of ourselves, as well as our dislikes, or perhaps no so favorite, even though they have been praised. For example, I slogged through Annie Proulx's The Shipping News. It won a Pulitzer. All it did was make me angry that a complete sentence could not be produced with any regularity. The depressing tone was nothing compared to that. If I can read something as depressing as Solzhenitsyn (I know, not American) and like it, then I know for sure that was not the issue.

  36. Or you know, manual trim. But that wasn't my point. Why have a big beefy center if you have to turn it all the way down?
    1 point
  37. Here's the thing Chris, let me level with you for a minute. Your setup was designed to be paired with the R-25C. That's what Klipsch intended, and that's where the timbre match is going to be. You're asking about an RC-64, a center channel that is ranked as one of Klipsch's top 5 center channel speakers, and is literally double the handling of your towers. It's a speaker that is made of superior parts (cerametallic woofers instead of img cones), and a huge titanium compression driver instead of a aluminum tweeter. With those differences, you're probably going to notice the surround profile sounding a bit odd when you watch movies. The center channel is also much more efficient than your towers, and because the crossover and parts are better, it will outshine your towers. That's why if you have no intentions of purchasing at least the RF-62's, I probably would advise against it. You're almost going to have to turn that center all the way down and your towers all the way up to blend it well. If you REALLY don't want the R-25C, and you don't want to upgrade anything else, my recommendation would be looking for the SC-3 or the C-3, with the former being preferred. Those two will be larger speakers that should be closer to your timber. The SC-3 is a respectable center channel as well. You could also look for used RC-3's, RC-25's, 35's, or RC-52's or 62's. The 62's and 35's will need to be trimmed down a bit, but not nearly as much as the RC-64. Lastly, you could examine the potential of the RP-250C or RP-4x0C's.

  38. Risers are pretty easy to fix...The brackets can be reattached with a hot glue gun...you could drill a couple small holes through the the plastic corner brackets and screw them on. Just use short enough screws ( not to break through the outside of the risers). Taking off all the old veneer ...you will need a heat gun and a good L shaped scraper...and a little work (patients). You can get adhesive backed veneer from Rockler. Just cut into 2 3/4 inch strips and re veneer the sides.....staining to match is not so easy....use some of the veneer scrap pieces to match . See photos. George

  39. I went out the last two nights, there were quite a few faint looking shooting stars and a few bright ones. I think the moon was lighting the sky so much it made many look faint, being darker would have helped, I guess. Most of what I seen was short not like the normal crossing the sky for long distances type. But it was clear and cool so it was fine, It's November when the Leonid meteor showers happen, last year it was the most I had ever seen ever, like one every couple of seconds or more. I found this 2017 Meteor Showers Name Date of Peak Moon Quadrantids Night of January 2 Sets around midnight Lyrids Night of April 21 Morning crescent Eta Aquarids Night of May 5 In view most of night Perseids Night of August 12 In view most of night Orionids Night of October 21 Evening crescent Leonids Night of November 16 New Moon Geminids Night of December 13 Morning crescent

  40. I got this for my birthday in March and it has changed my life. No more frigg'n starbucks and it taste better as well. The grinder is good, the hot water / steamer is good. It is also portable as it has its own water tank on the back. Once dialed in it is amazing.....

  42. My experience is like yours in that a sub or two absolutely gives the CF-4's that chest-thump lower octave that is missing. I use a sealed 15" DIY sub that is super musical, and reinforces the bottom end sound from the CF-4. It's the most accurate sound I've ever heard. My 5.1 setup also has mis-matched speakers all over the place. Audyssey in my Onk 717 makes them all play nice together.
