  1. Here are some more photos from China. Guizhou is a beautiful province and easy to photograph. Here are a few shots from the rural areas. The small houses on the hillsides are hundreds of years old. Leaky plumbing?? I don't know the story behind this. A few street scenes from a small Miao village (the Miao one of the Chinese minorities native to SW China.) Huangguoshu Waterfall - one of the largest in China. There is a walkway behind the fall about 3/4 of the way up where you can get really close to the cascading water. A smaller waterfall or two. A last shot from the Great Wall near Beijing.

  2. Yesterday I drove 9 hours and picked up my first set of Heresies, and actually my first set of heritage series. They are 1979 Persian Nut and are stunning! Practically mint all the way around and inside out. The crossovers were rebuilt with the Crites kit about a month ago. I have never seen a nice looking speaker. I cannot find any reference out there to a set with this finish. Has anyone seen a set of these before? Is there anyway to find out how many were ordered with that finish? As for the sound, I am coming from a set of KG 4.2s that have Mundorf caps, mills resistors, and the Crites diaphragms. The Heresies are clearer sounding and they really shine with some songs but seem to get overwhelmed and muddy with most. I am thinking something is not right here as my KGs play everything flawless, and the Hereies seem to have a better reputation. Is this a sign that the mid K-55-v diaphragm needs replacement or something else. So far in testing I have listened mostly classic rock, Pink Floyd, Grateful Deal, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Steely Dan, Chicago, and lots of other stuff. My music is mostly flacs ripped from CDs playing through Roon, and my turntable. I find it hard to believe that these would have the reputation that they have with what I am hearing and want to get them to 100%. Thanks

  7. I picked this up about five or six years ago... maybe more. Actually got two, for $350. They were used by a dj and in a pawn shop. I sold one to a co-worker for ... $350, so this one was free. They both work fine, but a little dirty. I finally got a cart, a 2M Red. Works for me. Bruce

  10. Maybe three...anyway, I was on hiatus from vinyl for two long years so had no further experience with Reg Williamson, Neil Disney version, record cleaner. I had a large bottle he sent right before I packed up that I rather feared would be past its prime. Actually, it may have been but in the opposite direction from what I would have expected. He'd sealed the stuff to the point that if it were weed, a DEA dog wouldn't have found it. It was liquid...too liquid. Spread too fast and almost impossible to level. Even then, took several re-applications to get full coverage. Nonetheless, it worked it's magic restoring several precious discs to near mint condition. Seventh Sojourn, victim of many pot parties and probably holding enough THC residue to have another, was one. Incredible job! Same for my well used Command Stereo Checkout album, which is still quite useful for quick checks on a number of issues. Also vastly improved were my E. Power Biggs/Rheinberger organ concertos, which I loved. They had some actual scratches, but lots of noise went away. I tried to thicken it on the stove, but even reducing by a third didn't seem to increase the viscosity. Very strange stuff! However, it worked anyway and hoping for a new supply. One important thing I learned is the stuff is completely water soluble even when dry. So, it pays to rinse with warm water to removed any little bits that may remain or, if as I did, some runs off and gets on an already cleaned side. Warm water takes it right off cleanly and a very soft record cloth speeds it up. I also built a drying jig with a 1/4" dowel and 3 inch squares of would drilled to fit the dowel. Mounted that on a 12" base of 3/4" plywood that holds it steady. Put on a square of wood, a record, and another square of wood. Holds them an inch apart and well clear of contamination. Mine holds 10 discs at the moment. Easy and useful for this purpose. No LP collector should be without this stuff. A tweak that yields results like nothing else can. Dave

  11. I would do as you said, then tell him it's marked and do not cut anything past that line and if he doubts the line he needs to have his own survey done. Say it so he gets the message, but nicely of course. We live on a corner so 2 sides are marked by roads, 6 acres. The back is a low spot we offered to buy to keep it from being cleared and that neighbor said he wants it left alone for the same reason as us, it gives about 100' of buffer trees and brush between us so were both good. The last property line is with a neighbor we don't really talk with anymore because his wife went off the deep end and no one talks with her anymore I think including him. But we both know where that property line is because he wanted a few cows so he bought the metal T- post and i bought the wire and we both put up the fence. Later I came back and put clumping bamboo down the whole line which is a few hundred feet, neither one of us can remove that very easily since it has grown.

Worked at the museum and hung out at Rodney's in the evenings, he cooked every night and Saturday we boiled crawfish he got through someone down by Kevin's, and Kevin's brother Brandon brought them up from the Lafayette area the night before. Rodney being Rodney he wanted 400 pounds, 10 sacks, we had 3 pots going, all got eaten except 2 sacks.......... I love big crawfish

  18. You probably need to take photos of the line stakes showing the timber that has been cut on your side of the line. Then, if you're nice, have an Attorney send a cease and desist letter, and call the Sheriff if he continues to trespass. If you're not feeling so nice, have a timber appraiser take a stump-count and estimate the value, then sue him for damages and for the cost of the survey. Many states award damages in triplicate on timber. This is not a title issue unless he asserts that the occupation has been open and notorious for the statutory period to make an adverse possession claim against you. It's trespassing and property damage.

  25. I have been stewing over buying a new lawnmower for some time. My "entry level" Honda has served me well for a decade or more. Reliable, first pull starting, just a joy to use(if you consider spending 3 hrs plus every Saturday during the summer in 92+ degrees and 80%+ humidity a joy). I loaned my Honda out to a friend to use for a while and when I got it back it just was not the same. Weird noises, stretched cable, and a few other annoying things. Not the same mower that I loaned him. I seriously considered dropping it off to a Honda repair facility and let them diagnose all the things that need repairing. I know it needs four new wheels, oil change, new blade, and whatever is causing the strange noises and slower operating speed. My bet the minimum $$$ would be close to $250.00 or more to get it up to spec. Not a huge amount for such a reliable product but still some uncertainty what is really wrong with the mower. I spent over 3 hours in HD this morning looking at the Honda mowers they had in store, watching YouTube video reviews, reading reviews, and talking to a very informed HD employee. Even after all that I was still undecided what to do. Along came a very nice gentleman customer who saw me playing with one of the Honda mowers. He said(in a Brooklyn accent), "great mower, great mower, you can't beat a Honda." I said that I have been very pleased with my 10+ year old mower and was considering breaking down and buying another. He said, "Do it, I bought the same exact mower a few months ago and I could not be happier with my purchase." He went to to say that his 9 year old Honda was starting to need repairs so he bit the bullet and bought another one. I went on and inquired about the things he liked about the Honda and said everything. He then asked me was I in the military and I said no but my wife is a veteran but not sure if she carries her card around in her wallet. He said "no worries, I'll let you use my veteran's discount, 10% is 10%." So needless to say, I brought home this baby. https://powerequipment.honda.com/lawn-mowers/models/hrx217vka Bill

  26. I know several of you live out in the sticks and/or have large property. I'm having problems with a neighbor and talking to him face to face, like a reasonable person is not working. I paid to have my land surveyed (again) so I have fresh boundary markers this time with pins and caps every 100-200 feet not just the corners. I don't want to put up a fence and I don't want it to look like I am a paranoid idiot. What have you seen or done with respect to signage that is to the point but not over the top. Sort of a vague request I know as one mans over top is another mans not enough. He has cut trees/brush back on about 1/3 of our property line to the tune of 60-70 feet into my lot. Way more than a slight disagreement of where the line is. We both have a little over 10 acres and share one common line a bit over 900 feet. Sort of rectangle properties. Think two shoe box lids laying next to each other with the long sides touching. I'm thinking 4' metal green fence posts at each cap/pin set with a No Trespassing sign on each. Figured I see what the rest of you red-necks thought before I proceed I just want to be left alone and have the land be in its natural state. I'm only guessing but thinking he may want to sell as his kids are all grown up. I think he is trying to make the view up his driveway from the road more appealing. That would be fine if he stuck to his property.

  31. And I can only speak on Alabama. I have been where the OP is with a land/line dispute. The first question the county mapper asked me was "do you have a stamped map of the complete parcel?" After saying yes and providing more details, and a title search, problem was resolved somewhat in my favor.

  41. Think that may be the case. Some like the 45's as they perceive(real) to sound better. Interesting. Let know if you try it, if you want.

  42. Thanks Recording speed generally equates to higher quality ...I am thinking it reveals more of the recording/reproduction equipment's shortfalls, in this case.

  43. Sounds interesting. The 78's should sound alright depending on their quality physically and how recorded. A lot of TT's do not have 78 anymore but, depending on the needle worth a try. They make dedicated 78 stylus but, you could carefully try, if you want to.(Thinking you know all of that) Cool...I hope, lol
