1967, 50+ years ago when these guys cranked out this, their first album, A LOT of cover songs on it. The Beatles, Sonny & Cher, The Zombies, Diana Ross &^ the Supremes ALL had hits "their" way. Vanilla Fudge played it THEIR way! Deep and heavy on the B-3/Leslie combo with outstanding vocals mixed in. A twist on the psychedelic West coast sound that worked since they drew quite the British following. Yes, Deep Purple, Styx, Uriah Heep along with Led Zeppelin were ALL influenced by them. Pretty crazy nuts to look back and hear someone say, "Yea, i remember when Led Zeppelin opened for us." They did though! "You Keep Me Hangin On," THEIR way is classic! It truly is a great old album imo!5 points

Always liked Cold Chisel from the first time I heard them & his singing was a big part of that. Since a biker couple that moved here from the great plains introduced me to them in the 80s I've felt like I was the only other one around here that knew of them. Anyone living a quarter mile of me or fortunately stuck in traffic next to me in the last three decades heard them though. This stuff has to be cranked it's such a pure raw rock!! real close huh? if only I still had hair! Ended up with a crew cut yesterday, I used the tapered ones around my ears...... and forgot to extend the blade `cause things have been hectic here. Had to go all over with a 3/8" blade to make it match.... darn that's short but it isn't cold outside here, I'll live.4 points

@fastpuce271 Welcome to our group! Happy? I'll bet you are but we all know you're still drooling a bit, which is a good thing. Hopefully, our sharing of music here turns you on a bit more. Everyone's taste is different and you'll find yourself enjoying some artists more than others. You'll also find yourself digging around in boxes of LP's wherever you see them for sale cheap. Be selective and look at the condition. Hope the posts here help you spot some of the great stuff we all enjoy. Questions just ask. I'm by no means an expert in here and started the same way you are now. That was LONG ago and I've tried to save every LP I've ever bought. I don't loan mine to anyone. They ask I just laff. They want it they can buy it or find it! Course IF I had those I loaned to friends I'd prolly have 100 more! lol Welcome to the Forum and our lil gaggle.3 points

I went to see him in concert with my wife Great concert We were seated in a central position and about the midway point of the concert he came to a piano placed in the middle of the crowd that was about 10 feet from us Played about 4 songs and then went back on stage We had a great time And the best part was I got the tickets for free as a gift from a client3 points

"Everybody knows this is nowhere" by Neil Young and Crazy Horse is his second album released in 1969. The album contains four songs that became standards in Young's performance repertoire: "Cinnamon Girl", "Down by the River", the title track, and "Cowgirl in the Sand", all of which were written in a single day while Young had a 103 °F (39.5 °C) fever.3 points

Warmed thing us w/a lil Petty replay from last evening soooo NOW we GO! Don't EVEN ask me where either! Released in late 1983 and their 11th studio album. After they sorted themselves out a bit they came back strong with their best-selling US album. A "new" generation" of rockers out there and it was music to their ears selling more than 3 million copies. What about their "old" listeners though? Yea, we knew and just went with the flow! Refreshing to say the least w/FOUR major hits from this album. Next up? Ugh!3 points

These collections are tricky because we may see the word "significant" and interpret it as "best". If they are referring to some of the technology (eg electrostatics or whatever), the manufacturer who first worked out the kinks and got it to a state where it could be mass marketed deserves substantial credit. Keep in mind of course that those who came later would have the advantage of being able to make incremental improvements on the original design. So the first manufacturer would have done something "significant" but the later guys would have perhaps made a better sounding (perhaps "best") speaker. In some ways, the Bose 901 or Radio Shack Minimus 7s are "significant" but certainly not in the "best" category.3 points

No problem. Shortly! :-) I'm not sure how long we are going to stay at these prices, but we don't have plans to raise them any time soon. Mostly doing this to provide a resource for the guys who are stuck in between being able to completely DIY subs and those who have the money to just buy commercial solutions. Well, we are also trying to create some interesting subs that might not otherwise come to market. I didn't take it that way. Several folks have asked what it is and there isn't a real clear answer. :-)2 points

thank you all so much for your kind words, stories shared and reactions. I am so happy I made the leap, again to vinyl from decades of a TT being absend in my setup. To me when playing music there is nothing like actually seeing the souce spinning around ona TT with a stylus on it and then hearing it the music on your speakers. I think it's fantastic. ☝️ I just need to buy a stylus brush to clean the needle. I have what I need to clean the records.2 points

Different concept. Someone's been thinking outside the box! Wonder what the price is? It's "blingy" though for sure!2 points

The reference above to the part K.L.A. Laboratories in Dearborn played in the history of one of Tom’s @kuisis Khorns led me to this video. It’s especially interesting to people in, or from, Southeast Michigan.2 points

Got a couple small lights a few months ago just to have them around, one went in the camera bag. They were cheap 2 lights for $16 aluminum and led, they take 3 aaa batteries but still smal, 5" long when not zoomed. Works great so far and one has been dropped a few times with no problem. For a small cheap light there plenty bright enough for what I need from a small light, there handy to stick in a pocket or wherever. I tried these because of the price and size, why this one well I got tired of shopping for a small light, have you seen how many are out there, it's crazy. https://www.amazon.com/Wsky-Flashlight-S2000-Resistant-Gift-Giving/dp/B07M8GFNJ1/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?hvadid=77859242144706&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=wsky+s2000&qid=1563334440&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=12 points

Finally pieced the system back together with the MiniDSP HD 2x4. It works like a charm. After a couple missteps, I got it dialed in and it is exactly what I was looking for. I have never used one before so I cannot compare it to anything, but it did what it said it would. It was fun boosting the bass and adjusting the frequency for the boost, plus adjusting the crossover on the fly. I am sure I will play with it some more, but got it to a point that I like what I hear (currently)!2 points

< Rant > I don't trust reviewers nope not one bit. How can you? How can you english what something sounds to me or you? Most of the time it is a feeling. Or how does one get past preconceived bias of the reviewers. Frak.. I think the audio mag industry is gross. Then there are the consuners of these rags.... There are literally people that won't by a product because it doesn't reach a certain level by some silver tongued self appointed golden eared reviewer.... Bah humbug. This industry is pimpimg gold fuses and megabuck cables of all sorts.. There just ain't enough BS buttons to go around. Take reviews with a grain of salt just look at the pics and to thine ears be true. < Rant/ >2 points

The Marantz SR7012 has HEOS connect built into it, and can stream directly from Tidal... The HEOS Connect interface is not as full featured as the Tidal app but it is a really easy way to stream Tidal or many other streaming services directly into your Marantz AVR. Streaming via a mobile device (phone or tablet) is another option by connecting via bluetooth or airplay to the SR7012.... and you can load the Tidal app on the mobile device to keep a consistent user interface. I built a network server using an Intel NUC mini pc and Audirvana for Windows to stream via ethernet to my SR7012 using uPnP. The sound quality of Audirvana (to my ears) is vastly superior than using Heos connect. Lots of option when it comes to music streaming and the SR7012... bluetooth, airplay, HEOS connect, and uPnP ethernet services can all get the job done.1 point

OP: just don't confuse the facts that apart from the obvious additions at times available with the "format" (more sound channels, stuff to concurrently show on your tv, etc.), the far-and-away main difference (if not actually the only one) in sound quality between lowly CD and "hi res" is the choices made and care taken with the mixing/production, not the bit depth or frequency of the sample rate.1 point
