  2. One of those days again. It's time for a "fix." Started early and the quest continues. Lil Random Neil Young always works! Doesn't seem like 37 years since I crawled up in the 10' wooden rocking chair after that show in 1983.

  3. Hum or buzz through the speakers can be a sign of bad or aging caps hum from the transformer is not too uncommon I'm not familiar with the Mac amps but sometimes on amps I have owned its the thin metal top cover that is actually amplifying the hum and in that situation a small piece of dynomat installed on the underside will take care of it.

  4. Scored at Goodwill! Bought five albums including this brand new still in the shrink wrap Bay City Rollers! It'll be hard waiting until Saturday Night to play it!! 😅 Hard to beat the $1.99 per album price! I'll post pics of the rest after I clean them and as I listen to them.

  20. On the southside of Charlotte, moving in a few months or sooner... I do not know right now. I have an Integra DTM-7 receiver `cause I needed HDMI hookups for sound out of the roku. Original box from Accessories for Less refurbished. Bought the fall of 2018. Then a pair of Super Heresy 1.5s with pretty Oiled Walnut cabinets with guts from the Super Heresy 1 build except I now have the woofers from the SH 2 thread in there with more acuity in themid-bass that the originals. Serial #s 52S231, and 52S232 (1978) Super Heresy 1.5 Top of the line K55V SOLDER TERMINAL DUAL PHASE PLUG mid drivers. Heavy cast K-700 horns. New driver to horn gaskets. New Crites CT-125 Tweeters Eminence Kappalite 3012HO Neo Woofers out of the S H 2 plans Crossover with ClarityCaps in all positions, Erse 2.5mH woofer inductor, Type B crossover that is required for the S H. Cabinet is acoustic eggcrate foam lined as called for in the design. Rear ports installed with Liquid Nails, sealed with 100% silicone. The veneer on these Heresys is beautiful. Yes that is the laser etched emblems on top of the dtm7. The highs and mids are pronounced, I haven't bumped them back. For those that haven't heard Supers their imaging is much improved over the stock Heresy of that time (haven't heard IIIs or IVs) the bass is improved even more if you take the time to adjust them in their environment. Ports Matter! Never raised the front edge of my H2s but in the combined den/kitchen with the 17 foot ceiling it works great like this! @jimjimbo has first dibs... he produced these Supers & I promised. Not looking to separate though. Shipping might be an issue with the speakers.. it does happen so cash & carry is preferred. For you fellow Klipsch-ers $800.00 cash and carry or best offer above 70% of that before New Years! TV is just getting worse and I'll hook my pc the the big Samsung, believe my Vega56 will drive it well! Would be good for Christmas morning!!

  21. That's not saying a lot. I had some Monitor 4 that did fine. The Monitor 5 I have do a lot better. The highs are super high and the bass is deep and tight. I have some monitor 7, but haven't heard them yet.. bought them on their reputation. I have had the SDA 2, loved how they sounded and staged as well as any that I have had. The largest I has were the SDA SRS, wish that I would have kept them, then again, I can say that about a lot of equipment that I have had.

  23. Is it chilly where y'all are? Made it to 40 by a little after 2pm est yesterday, did not get any more warm and it was blustery outside all day. Up to almost 50 today but it wasn't outside at 7am this morning. It should feel like December now, if only we could get a hard freeze to last 48 or 72 hours to kill the bugs I would not have to thump the occasional spider off the storm door.

  29. Tripp/Lite make good surge protectors/noise filters. I’ve been using two Isobar Ultras, a 6 (6-outlet) and an 8 (8-outlet). As soon as I turned on the old CRT TV I was using at the time, I could see that the blacks were noticeably blacker, so that indicated something good was happening. Wth the four Class D amplifiers I’m using (2 for the main front speakers and 2 for the subwoofers), I thought it would be a good idea to filter out any line noise they produced, and the Isobar Ultras seem to do that. They’re designed to filter out line noise from printers in office applications in commercial use, and they serve me well. They’re not that expensive, around $100 each. They have steel housings and are compact. As for hum, I ran into that when settling up the system. The cause was having the system plugged into more than one circuit, since I wanted to spread out the load. The cure was to run a ground wire from the turntable to the receiver (a good idea anytime) to the one power amp and then to the other power amp, but NOT TO GROUND! You want to ground the components to each other, to compensate for the slight voltage difference between the wall circuits. That’s all. They should not be connected to building ground, other than through their 3-pronged power plugs.

  30. You're definitely right! And bass power is of paramount importance for both music and movies! I'm so glad I ordered a good pair of speakers. For 355days the R820F's cost 950euros and only for ~10days during Black Friday season they drop down to 650euros. It's a steal!
