  2. Not a good thing, at 73 you should not be up on the ladder that high anyway, or on the roof. No reason, there is nothing up there to get hurt over or kill yourself. Nothing up there is in that much of a rush to not wait on the errand boy, your old dude, don't end it all like that.

  5. Need to finance a new set of Jubs to replace my underground Jubs. Yea, you want photos, that will come forthwith (when I get a round tuit) and I know that you are a bunch of cheap skates like me. But I THINK these prices are not too far out of line. PM if you want to discuss please Location is 78414 Price is pickup but I will entertain help (labor) with shipping. CT-650-T in white new in box (never opened). I used one pair but not the other. $350.00 One pair black KI-396-SMA II. No boxes. Purchased as a trio with the third modified by the factory to be used as a center between the Jubilees. The 'used' pair for sale (yes, I connected them as surrounds for a few minutes) just didn't fit in the room. $2000.00 Cornwall IIIs in walnut ... this is for a set of three. I used all three as the front LCR for surround duty but since moving into the new place with the Jubs one pair is used for my bedroom system and the third is relegated to closet storage...no boxes. $3500.00 for the three Parasound P-6 preamp and A23+ amp. Have boxes and have been used for approx an hour while I was testing rooms to see if I could make a dedicated Parasound / Jubilee room. I found I didn't have a second room to support that. I have a second A23+ amp that has indeed been used at some gatherings and now power my outdoor speakers but it's not the one offered (just in case you have seen me with these and think oh, that's BS he has used them). $2000.00 for the P6 and A23+ combo in factory packaging. SOLD Boxes you ask? Well for 30 plus years I held on to every box for electronics I had purchased. When I bought this place I scrapped everything I didn't have a immediate need for which included boxes out the azz.

  8. It's bad enough when you're looking forward to a new amplifier and therefore eagerly waiting for it, but when the package deliverer delays the delivery again and again, you can get angry. At least I get pretty mad at such things.

  9. I agree totally George. I just don't get it anymore but who am I to put a spin on other gear. I'm happy in my own skin and that's all that matters. I've thought about changing but then I look at 60 years of every spare nickel and dime sitting here. Just can't cause that stuff just doesn't work. They can argue every point but I'll never change. @billybobI've thought that too many times but they seem to always get it to me on time somehow. What's a day?? hahahaha

  14. Mornin' all thought I'd check in. Garden is about wrapped up. Just waiting for the curing process to happen -- could be 3 mo. I had an out of house experience yesterday. Drove wife's secretary to the Dr.... oh boy!?! just for schitz and giggles, I pulled the little sub from the doghouse and brought it in to the livingroom and LS. The 2 rooms seem to be acoustically polar opposites. The LR neutralizes low bass. The doghouse .... even the little R15Ms would pin you to the wall. Now I want a better sub. ...if I was really ambitous, I would take the LS to the doghouse and see how they do there. The distance/s from the main listening position are pretty near the same. Difference is LR is 12 X 25. Doghouse 12 X 12. LR has a sloping ceiling

  15. The Horrors You mean after all those numbnuts on tv tell you that is BAD. Solicitors coming to you door say your perfectly good gutters are a hazard. You MUST have the new and improved leafguard gutters at the limited time offer of 50% off? Then every woman in the neighborhood wagging her finger telling you it's too hot or too cold to be outside, too risky to climb that ladder and dangerous to be on your own roof! 17. So we need more chatter you say? Not earth shaking but I did climb my 24' ladder up to to three areas of the 1.5 story house to blow leaves and pine straw off. Gutter guard does not help with straw! Walking up and down valleys is getting a bit scary for this soon to be 73 year old but my errand boy was busy. On a happier note I ordered a matched pair of Amperex 12AU7s (orange world logo-Holland) from Brent Jesse this morning. Will try them in the two center positions of the PrimaLuna integrated. A bit of a skeptic about tube rolling I must say. Lastly you may remember I bought the Transcendent Sound Masterpiece but it resides at my other house. Was wondering if I brought it here could I run the PL integrated through the Masterpiece pre amp? If so tell me how please.

So I don't They said they were going to triple our pay so let's see, 3x 0 is The good part if they let me go I lose nothing, and you think they would have done that by now. The crazy part is we were out of town for 10 days years ago and I never look here when not home. Come to find out they took a poll and I was one of the ones picked, I was not told anything. I get back from vacation and sign in and see moderator by my name and freaked out sending messages up the chain, then I was told, not asked never was. Still deciding if I want to accept this job, I figure if I suck enough doing it...wait nevermind there is NO list of volunteers, probably why they never asked. But they are getting's there moneys worth.

  22. Thinking what would be a good LP to play and see how the Sansui AU717 performs This album was my choice, as to my ears it has tonal accuracy Artist - Sky Album ID - https://www.discogs.com/release/948460-Sky-Sky They are, John Williams, Herbie Flowers, Kevin Peek, Tristan Fry, Francis Monkman Listened to the amp without any filters activated The amplifiers tonal playback was accurate with all octaves but if I can put it in this way - with a warm caress but prat was not diminished in any way when it was warranted Separation of instruments is also excellent I have also had an extended listen and happy to report that it’s not fatiguing

  25. In the fall of 2019 my Father-in-Law dropped off a Sansui TR-707A Transistor Stereo Tuner Amplifier as one channel was very weak knowing there was a chance I'd be able to diagnose and fix whatever fate this amp suffered. Over the past two years I'd occasionally open it up, chase down a lead, and then give up when a more interesting/less challenging project came along. It was always hanging out in the back shelf of the workbench, looking at me with sad puppy dog eyes but knowing it would be a possibly pointless road to go down I hesitated. Fast forward to six weeks ago when a friend dropped off his NAD C356BEE which was DOA - he fried a few resistors/diodes/capacitors due to a speaker short. Once I had it up and running again I hooked it to the Heresy IIIs in the main system and was duly impressed. I was a little too close minded running my Elekit TU-8200 to think solid state could sound so nice! So I took it upon myself to consider the Akitika kits before realizing I might get the 34 pound beast in the basement working for much less money and have a good story. A little background gleaned from the internet and my wife's recollection of childhood stories came to a reasonable conclusion: my father-in-law purchased the unit from the base PX in Vietnam and the serial number appears as a 1965 date code so it matches up. From the on-line manual this is an 18WPC Class AB transistor amplifier and apparently was the first transistor amp that Sansui exported (it also has a really interesting (to me) topology but that isn't my strongest knowledge so feel free to read up on that. My troubleshooting discovered that there was no signal reaching the outputs so I started working backwards reflowing solder points. As the pots were scratchy I took out the can of DeOxit and sprayed down the pots which addressed the scratchy sound on the working channel but I was still left with a single channel amp. I began playing with signals and determined that the offending channel was working, again, nothing to the output. I even pulled the power transistors and determined all four were in spec - I was happy to find that as the transistors are long since out of production and there aren't any easy replacements or NOS units available that I can easily find. Going on a whim I checked a handful of capacitors and found one on the offending channel was reading as an open circuit. I'm not an electronics whiz in the least, but I like buying stuff to feed my audio addiction and who doesn't like assembling a bill of parts and getting stuff in the mail? I assembled a list of 74 capacitors for the pre-amp, amp, tone control, and power supply circuits and 22 hours after ordering from Parts ConneXion the box arrived. I pulled the replacement caps for the one that read open (and its channel twin), the iron, and....SHE SINGS! I've since gone through and replaced about a third of the caps on the pre-amp board and a handful on the output side. I'm doing this piece meal - one cap per channel per operation, then plugging everything in to check. The workbench system consists of a CD player and KG1s (rebuilt crossovers in those). How does it sound? I really like it. The bass control offered is out of this world. The treble is clear and well defined and reveals a few details I had not heard in music previously, although it seems to be hot - I have it turned down slightly on the tone controls. Channel separation is as expected given the specifications (abysmal by today's standards) and imagining is fairly poor to non-existent. The hiss during song breaks is noticeable. Even the tiny little KG1s have great bass weight and extension to them. I'm really impressed with this beast. Future work: 1) Finish the preamp recapping project, move on to the output recapping, and the power supply recap (power supply is first on the list to be honest). I also have capacitors for the tone controls and might get to that. 2) Replace the speaker terminals. Currently uses a slotted screw which accepts spade connectors, I'm replacing with 5-way binding posts. 3) Replace the RCA jacks. The built in RCA jacks have a flare, pushing out the sleeve of any connector attached. 4) Replace the non-polarized power cord with either a polarized two-prong cord or a grounded IEC cable. There isn't enough room to mount an removable plug so I'll hardwire the IEC power cable. 5) I've been unsuccessful in tracking down a replacement knob cover for the balance pot; my back-up plan is to slide the volume knob over to the balance pot and go with an aftermarket knob for volume that is consistent in appearance of the unit. 6) Replace the rubber feet on the outside of the case which have deteriorated due to age. 7) Trouble shoot the lights - while all lighting is functional it is not very bright. As much as I like this amp, if my father-in-law wants it back I'll let him have it. But I really hope he doesn't.

  30. The PL must have a separate pre-out that can be connected to the Masterpiece power amplifier and the power amplifier of the PL must be able to be disconnected, then it can work.

Give a kid $20 and hold the ladder, hand them the blower and watch em laffin at you. https://tenor.com/view/apocalypsenow-horror-gif-4763006 Hanging them over the fence w/the root ball upside down so all the goodies run to the buds? 3 months??? 41. The image I get of that is you squeeeeeezing the two speakers in there..... and no room to sit. So, being ever clever, (that rhymed by accident), you realize HEY, I can put a beannie bag chair in the middle of the room. Since the beenie bag chair can change shape, it will conform to the space left not taken by the speakers.....a side benefit is it might act like a natural sound absorber to boot!! Another rhyme at the end! Dang, I'm lyrical today.

  42. What an amusing thread thus far. You guys were a bunch of trouble makers lol. Rather than fool with spring, could you fool with weight? Add a 5-10 (??) pound weight to the rear of the chair so now "you" weigh 155/60. These weights could be in the form of Almond M&M's dumped in a bucket. Maybe add a salami sandwich to the bucket for your typing marathons?

  44. It must be a Midwestern Baby Boomer thing, but around here they love that crap. Its all I ever knew until I was about 15 or 16. I remember one summer we visited family in Kentucky and I was riding along with great uncle to the sale barn. We stopped at a deli to get some sandwiches and I remember saying "and i mean mayo, not that salad dressing $hit" . That got me thinking, so I asked mom, what's difference, she basically said he was refering to real mayo versus miracle whip. When I returned home I started working at McDonalds where they used real mayo. Someway somehow I managed to get a taste and realized that this is why I have never liked what my family here in Nebraska served. From then on it was real mayo, I like prefer the stuff with olive oil rather it be Hellmann's or Kraft. My wife used the Avocado stuff and to me its nasty. Still a real mayo guy here. Now my folks are hooked on some salad dressing with splenda.

  46. I’ve been emailing the seller . I hope to make the drive to him and check them out. Hopefully he is legit. He is pretty firm on the 1600 price. Is this a ( to good to be true) sale ? It’s about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive one way. I have the money but wife wants me to sell of some of my audio gear before buying an anything else. Lol. It only took her 26 years to say this to me. Lol guess I’m a lucky man who has a very understanding wife. But she is right, I have so much gear and speakers just sitting all over the house. Only if she would stop looking for all my hiding spots.
