  2. Finally the powercord, I ordered two weeks ago, arrived today! Finally stuff can move into it´s shelves. The shelve itself is still an ongoing project. But now the TT and amp are off the floor at least!

  5. Well I did, first with my vintage Onkyo TT with a generic €24 stylus, and then - see Pic with my Project tt with a OM10 stylus. This one is much better sounding. The album I'm listening to is Dire Straits, Communiqué. This simple setup is excellent for close listening to vinyl! Note: the TubeCube is loaded with a Gold Lion preamp tube and the power tubes are NOS Sovtek EL84 tubes. These are high-end tubes...

  6. What!?!?!?!?! According to the official Klipsch blog, one MUST put your gear on the floor for the best sound quality!!! Just look at this screenshot! Just joking, of course. This blog entry has spiked my interest, because I own the gear in the picture. The Tubecube 3.5wpc amp, the RP160M speakers, and of course a turntable. Maybe I should set it up tonight. Gonna use my Zen Phono Pre.

  7. no Really? I did to you exactly same as you did to Dave post. Picked only part of his statement that makes it opposite sense to what someone said or even senseless. I see you do it a lot like that in here. What is a point? Are you in type of those new activists that try to cancel not only those who don't agree with them but also those who dare to ask a questions? Klipsch's products are good enough to speak for themselves, they don't need someone who chases everyone with baseball bat.

  13. Old, kind of new and new to me music. You're keeping it rocking @AndreG. Had Double Live Gonzo, Audioslave's first and early Judas Priest in the mix this week. Now it's the first two of that Steely Dan anthology I got a while back. Would like to say it raised the mileage some more but the mountainous roads are like a roller coaster you drive yourself on. The paddle shifters in the brick work well for these skinny two lane highways!

  15. In 1970 I moved up from graduate student poverty to postdoc wealth. About that time my mono 24W Knight 5881 amplifier's transformer died. My first reaction was to find another mono amplifier after not finding a replacement transformer. However, stereo was now "the thing". I built a Heathkit receiver, but couldn't find another University 12-inch triax speaker to match the Aristocrat knock-off I'd built as a teenager. So I started auditioning speakers at audio stores in Syracuse. Nothing impressed me until I stumbled upon Klipschorns at a store on the northside of town. That ended the search, but at $884 each I could only afford one. Klipsch promised to hold the second one for me until I could save up for it. My pair matches in appearance, but the serial numbers are not sequential. I assume the second serial number was issued when the second one shipped. Still satisfied with the sound after all these years. A year ago I built an Elekit 8600s kit and put Western Electric 300B tubes in it. It's sweet listening to my old ears.

  28. Yea, me too actually. The thing that suprised me was the fact she wanted nothing to do w/digital. You and I both know film is the best way to roll but the digital stuff IS pretty darn amzaing today. I'll watch for a while til she figures it out. She will. Then ole Dad will ship her my 400/2.8 just in time for the PGA golf tournament she works at in Phoenix along w/another body for it. Then the next year she prints about 50 or 100 of her best shots, hanging files in a cardboard box in her trunk, include all my Chrome reprints of the OLD guys, 25 a pop or 2 for 40, new black Shapries for 5 so they can get them signed? She'll sell out in about 3 days cause I did EVERY year. Gonna turn her into a real BOSS. 😂 💪

  29. @archdukeobvious texted me yesterday and asked if I'd tag along for the meet. I brought an amp and played some tunes to check them out, and gave him the thumbs up. I knew he needed a place to store them for a while so I offered my garage for a while. These appear to be completely untouched. I'll be doing some tests, and we thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread with the results. Mike

  33. Years ago I bought a Thorens turntable from a guy in an upscale neighborhood. He was selling his entire system, McIntosh electronics and Magnepan speakers. I asked what he replaced all that with and he showed me a Bose Lifestyle system. He alluded that his wife was instrumental in this mind boggling decision...🙄

  34. Back in the early 80's I took my cousin, who was shopping for a system. with me to a shop. I don't know what I needed but it wasn't much. Maybe album sleeves or something. I saw him talkin to some guy and figured he was pickin the guy's brain. I had the big Marantz receiver, a Dual 1229 w/a Shure V-15 on it running into a pair of ESS AMT-1. He'd heard it and liked it but man was i suprised. I paid for my stuff and he was still talkin. The dude went somewhere to do something so I asked if he was just about ready to go. He said no he just bought a pair of 901's, the Bose amp and was waiting on the dude to get some other dude cause he was payin cash for it all. I flipped out. Yup, he did and loaded it up in the car to bring it home. Soooo they sent him home w/no speaker wire. There it sat w/no wire. I let it sit there and came home. He called a week later and wanted me to hear it. Sad. ALL that money for nuttin. He's still got those things hangin and is still playin em. He said they're fine and his wife loves 'em. Yup, I'm shakin my head just like you are. Then about 5 years ago Steve Ferrone show'd up @ Sweetwater in FT. Wayne, IN. It'd been a couple years since we'd talked so I slipped out to shoot the crap. Then another friend Justin Johnson (the guy who plays the spade shovel guitar) was gonna be reppin for someone. Killed two birds w/one stone. Perfect! Headed outside and there was a big Bose tent w/people going in and out so I figured I'd go in for a laff. Two guys stopped me at the door of the tent and told me I wasn't allowed to come in. I said wtf, WHY is that? One guy pointed to my 75th Anniversary Klipsch hat and said "that's a no no." I laffed in their faces and said it's a shame you're reppin bullshit and walked away. Not a word outta 'em. rofl

  37. I imagine it was a tough decision to move to Oxnard and close the Vancouver shop. Oxnard is a happinin' place for luthiers. Guild and Cordoba are also building there, Taylor and Fender are in CA as well. Lot's of great guitars being made these days, including those made in Mexico.

  42. Go to the Pro section and I think it is on page 12. Look for "Feeding the TSCM fever" The pictures of the ones in the barn are some of mine when I first got them. Present were Indy klipsch fan, aka Roger Chase, Michael Colter and myself. These are Klipsch Pro Klipschorns also known as TSCM's, NOT home Klipschorns although I used to have four Home Klipschorns and a La Scala center channel before I got these. Presently I have four Klipsch Pro Split La Scala and two Klipsch Pro Slant Monitor Heresy's for my 21 year old Daughter. Roger That is my bald head holding the Dewalt and here are some of my TSCM's. TSCM stands for Theatre Stage Corner Monitor. Those are Klipschorns with fully built backs / wings and bottom and top. A Home Klipschorn has a K-33E 15 inch woofer rated at 100 watts RMS, these have a TSCM (only) K-44E 15 inch woofer rated at 250 watts RMS. A home Klipschorn has a K-400 midrange horn with a 5/8 inch throat and a single K-55 midrange driver. The Top hats on these, besides being able to aim the top section separately from the bottom, they have a K-400 midrange horn but this one has a 2 inch throat with a K-4 splitter attached and it has four K-55 midrange drivers. A home Klipschorn has a single K-77 tweeter and the special tweeter lense in these splits and has two K-77 motors and diaphragms. A home Klipschorn weighs 175 pounds where as these weigh in at 250 pounds each. Since I have Srven of these with four K-55 drivers each, that is 28 K-55 drivers alone. These were oriiginally sold in the early to mid 1980's and were only sold to movie theatres. Roger

  44. Dude !!! What are you going to veneer them in ?? Those cain grills really looked stunning with the Black by the way !! What drivers do you have in the beaters and what is your plan ?? I have four Pro Split La Scalas with Trim and two Pro Heresy Slant Monitors with trim that a friend is going to veneer in Santos Rosewood for my Daughter. Plans are to completely refinish all trim and put it all back on with the Rosewood. Currently I have Six extra K-55V solder terminal drivers and six extra K-55M drivers and I need to decide between K-55 Push pin, K-55 Solder Terminal and K-55M for voice on all these... I bought K-42 Woofers and they are installed into the slant monitors after an A/B session of listening. I also replaced the original Alnico round magnet K-77's in the slant monitors with K-77 square Mud magnet tweeters so all six match. Roger

  45. Hey Pete! As you know, I have a Ton of old KP-600 gear. What you may not know is that besides the KP-600's and all my TSCM's, I also used to have A bunch of MCM-1900 stuff. I had five MWM doubles and four MWM singles along with a ton of other MCM-1900 pieces. I also had a pair of KP-480's among others. I also used to have like 43 separate spare 15 inch Klipsch drivers. Your 15 inch drivers in question do look to me like the K-48 drivers from my KP-480's Bass Bins to me. Those speakers were pristine and 100% untouched. One thing I have learned from the KP-600's is that the early KP-600's had a split pair off K-60 drivers that were replaced in newer KP-600's with a single K-432 driver for greater power handling. Also, the earlier KP-600's had flat magnet K-46 drivers like your drivers in question, where as newer KP-600's have the improved "Bump Back" K-46 which allows for more former excursion and better power handling. Not saying what I am going to say next is so but, I suspect your drivers in Question may be earlier versions of the K-48 ??? Rog

  46. Bobby, I don't allow my wife an opinion on my speakers! She has free rain to do anything she wants in her Kitchen. She has free rain to make any choices she wants on the bedroom. She has free choice of anything she wants in the bathroom. GDmit, I have the right to make ANY decisions I want on one room and she doesn't get ANY input !! PS; I am having those splits veneered in Santose Rosewood veneer for a system for my Daughter. So far I have four matching split La Scalas with trim and a pair of Pro Klipsch Heresy slant monitors with trim, all to be veneered eventually in Santose Rosewood Venner for her that she picked out in person her self.
