  1. I say that whomever you spoke to needs more training. You can use a y splitter with any receiver that has a single sub output. In fact, virtually all receivers that have dual sub outputs just have an internal splitter anyway.

  2. I’ve been thinking about this statement for a few days and how to respond to it. I appreciate opinions from people about what they hear, but since everyone hears differently, opinions are largely subjective. I didn’t think you were lying to me, but I now tend to take everything with the proverbial grain of salt. I have issues with measurements too. Not everyone measures the same and they are usually done in listening areas. How much is the speaker and how much is the room? Microphone placement also varies, and most are not very forthcoming about their test set ups. I also take issue with the fact that Klipsch isn’t very forthcoming with data. We are all left to scramble, trying to figure out the right way to do a thing with very little input from the professionals who should be providing guidance. It’s like being on a treasure hunt, and the captain has made off with the map. I think it’s sad that someone like you has to track down somebody from Atlas engineering to get an answer about why the new driver is different. By the way, have you put a new diaphragm in an old driver and curved it? I’ve gone over the Klipsch update sheets you provided me several times. I have very little confidence in what I’m reading. It doesn’t add up. I have found a satisfactory answer, but you won’t like it. Yeah, I’m cranky.

  4. Took the day off today! Been a rough week! lol The Wall – Live in Berlin was a live concert performance by Roger Waters and numerous guest artists, of the Pink Floyd studio album The Wall, itself largely written by Waters during his time with the band. The show was held in Berlin on 21 July 1990, to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall eight months earlier. A live album of the concert was released 21 August 1990. 1970? Their first! merson, Lake & Palmer is the debut studio album by English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It was released in the United Kingdom by Island Records in November 1970, and in the United States by Cotillion Records in January 1971. After the group formed in the spring of 1970, they entered rehearsals and prepared material for an album which became a mix of original songs and rock arrangements of classical music. The album was recorded at Advision Studios in July 1970, when the band had yet to perform live. Lead vocalist and bassist/guitarist Greg Lake produced it. Upon release, the album went to No. 4 in the UK and No. 18 in the US.[2][3] Lake's song "Lucky Man" was released as a single in 1970 and helped the group achieve radio airplay; it peaked at No. 48 in the US. After a warm-up gig in Plymouth, the band performed songs from the album at their next, a spot at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival which propelled them to widespread fame. In 2012, Steven Wilson prepared a special edition that features a new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes, plus bonus material.

  8. XOs installed. Had one bad solder joint causing the woofer to cut out. Now working great, no thanks to the sellor who did an absolute crap packing job. Also, found an alternate for the brittle orange gasket for the squawker. Ace Hardware. Outer diameter is 2 1/4 but inner diameter was spot on. Maybe just a bit thicker. Cut with scissors, not pretty but took like 20 seconds so whatever. $3.50 each. And yes all three holes are the same size. Its an optical illusion.

  12. You pay shipping! First to take them, gets them. Never used. Went to Hope...a group went to meet Ms. Valerie. She said she had "some stuff for you guys" or something similar.... raised these glasses, raised T-shirts... maybe other things, I don't recall. Various folks said "I'll take that!!!" When she was done, she went back around and said "ok, you got three T-shirts, those are $5.00 each, so $15 for you, you got two glasses, those are $10, so $20 for you".... and all the funds was supposed to go to a charity of some sort. It was kind of funny as you might say she finessed us. We were thinking she was getting rid of stuff, thinning out out when in fact, she was selling it and didn't tell us until the end! Side comment, I'm working out of town for the next two weeks so I'll have to rely on my wife to get them shipped out..... and she likes to do projects at home, not drive 15 miles to the post office. So if she does it, it might be quickly sent, if I have to do it, it might take me a couple weeks. (I leave 5:00 A.M. and usually get home around 8:0 so post office/Fedex/Other, isn't easy for me to get to. Oh, and these have never been used. I got them from Mrs. K, brought them home, wife put them in a corner cabinet and they've sat there for 15 yewars (or however long I've had the Underground Jubilee's'. \

  14. I just did a thang. The halogen is in the house! Maybe I'll get lucky and have to replace the bulb. Otherwise, it's time to start shovin albums back in the proper "holes." Waaaay, too many piles standin aroud in here. I'll get to see then just how much room I might have, which is gonna be minimal. I'm screwed. I'll see stuff I want to hear so the vicious cycle never ends. Sad but sounds good.

  18. As is usually the case, the truth tends to be somewhere in the middle. To satisfy my curiosity, I ordered a pair of Altas PD-5VH's. Below are plots of a new PD-5VH (Blue) and an old K55V push pin (Orange). Both measurements start at 300hz on a K-400 horn with no filter. I'll let you decide the frequency responses of each driver. Again, the Altas driver is brand new. I don't know if the FR will change over time. Mike

  19. I bought this receiver from John. The unit is in perfect condition in every way. John was a pleasure to do business with and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him in the future. I've got a sweet spot for these units.....using them as preamps in particular. They're totally underrated in this regard IMHO. Thanks again John.

  23. 1957 Ampex console first stereo console. This is a good one. I've had it for years and taken many stabs at restoration. I finally made some progress. The amps, preamp, and tuner are now functionally. I also added some bluetooth. The record changer is going to be swapped and the RTR need serious help. The belts fell out the motor needs some work. All that being said I have a tuner and bluetooth for now. The guts all spread out so we can find issues more easily. Nice little JBL 8" full rangers.

  25. Continued: First cut on the veneer. Got my supervisor keeping a lookout from the garage. Contact cement rolled on, just waiting for it to dry. It was tricky to cut the access door before it was glued. I was trying to save the piece so the grain would match. I ended up using some boards and clamps on one side of the hole at a time to hold it roughly where I wanted it. I rolled it backwards and made some score marks with a knife to mark the exact corners, then switched to the other side. I took it off, used a straight edge to connect the marks on the corners, and it came out almost as cleanly as I wanted. The difficult side is done. The rest was a cake walk comparatively. Just enough of a gap to make it easy to install. Bracing installed for the door, and I painted the interior black. Edge banding installed and moved inside. I used two coats of Dark Walnut Danish oil from Watco. It doesn't quite match the Forte IIs, but it's close enough and I know the color will change slightly with age. Lastly, I wanted something a little nicer looking for the plate amp (Dayton 500w). I was a little less discerning with the finish of this, since it was going to stay mostly unseen. Like the F20, it's birch ply with walnut veneer. I added some black walnut on the front for aesthetics, and because I mis-measured the depth of the amp when installed. I took the amp out of the plastic case and there is an opening at the bottom and top to allow for some ventilation when I get around to cranking this thing up.

  27. I sent mine to repair, Got it back and the sub is not broken. This is how all R-115SW sounds. Klipsch told me the best way to eliminate the hum is to buy the wireless kit, or turn down the volume button on the back and make a new callibration with your microphone pluged in the receiver. 42. Ok, to start off (this might seem to be a rant to some of you people) I will tell you about all of my speaker upgrades. My first speakers came with my computer, rellly bad, never even used them for music. Then when I got my second computer, I got some multimedia harman kardons, they were pretty nice, i blew them out becuase i had the bass set too high. Then I "borrowed" a mini system from my dad to use for my computer, it was pretty nice, then I upgraded to a bigger mini system and the bass was crazy! Then when my dad wanted his second system back, I got a sherwood reciever (really cheap) and two bose bookshelf speakers (yea yeah, I know, they suck) and that wasn't really an upgrade, and I became more interested in audio, so in June I got the Promedia 5.1 system, it was completely amazing, I could not get over how nice it sounded compared to all of my other systems. Now I still have the reciever/bose combo, and I want to upgrade it. I was thinking about adding a ksw-15 (nice for my proce range), but even then, I think I will not have enough bass. With each upgrade, I am amazed with it for a few months, then I want MORE, I just can't have enough bass. So, does this happen with any of you? Or is it a disease?!

  45. Ok, well in school, I am doing this project on ballads, and I have to choose a song with a ballad in it, well I chose Black Dog. I need to know if this song is too inappropriate? The lyrics don't seem too bad but still, I am still questioning, "watch your honey drip, can't keep away" and "Tell me won't you you do me now." Could you interpret that?! lol

  46. ok, since you keep insisting that you actually own these speakers, I will only believe you if you prduce a picture of yourself with your hand on top of the speaker which is fully shown (nothing cut off from the picture).
