With all due respect, I could record Edison cylinders at 24/192 and it would not improve quality. You can go sky-high on your “high res” audio parameters and achieve no higher actual quality. Once you’ve captured the dynamics and bandwidth of the source, you’re done. Also, few Redbook examples take advantage of the available dynamics. I wouldn’t discount 40-year-old tech as being inadequate because of age. It may be irrelevant because of the source material. Just my opinion. I will prove it soon with analysis of purchased “high res” recordings. Most of what is sold is ripped from CD’s.
