jacksonbart
An abortion above, anywhoI am asking what is your favorite firsttrack/song of an album. Therefore inlogical play order it’s the first song a listener would here. Not interested in the first song of a best ofAlbum, just a first track of an original album. First songs in an album concept (it a more rare idea anymore) is soimportant, they introduce the album and by no means are they your favorite songof that album. I don’t care if it’s offof the band/artist’sfirst album or their last. Its highly subjective, all opinion, reveal something about you, think about it. For me at this moment, its from Dire Straits, Making Movies, the song ‘Tunnle Of Love’ . To me itopens the album perfectly and fit character, its not my favorite song of thealbum, which is ‘Skateaway’, but just seems to fit so well for me. Speak to me/Breathe is right up there. oldtimer
I'll be sure to think of more later but right now, first track of The Doors (Break on Through) is absolutely brilliant, plus it's also a first track of a first album. Groomlakearea51
Jimmy Cliff - LP (also same title CD) "Give Thankx" - "Bongo Man" Really. Unless I'm going to play classical music, I'll most often put that LP on with that track before I head off to other stuff. Hard rock? If it's an evening of guitar "hero" stuff, I'll usually play: Eric Clapton - LP (also same title CD) "Eric Clapton" - "Slunky" IMHO the definitive example of the "master". Speed, precision and range, par excellence. By the time he and Bonnie Bramlett get finished, you will be hot, sweaty and walk around for a few minutes saying, "Wow...". Then I read all the post on the fist page and still thought MTAF is a killer fist track to set up what is in store on the rest of the LP. Great summer time jam always takes me back to middle school days.
Islander
Koi-Uta, from Tak Matsumoto's instrumental CD, Hana.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPWMpcNbXTY The tune is very mellow and relaxing. On a good Klipsch sytem, you can here the vocalist on the left breathing in. At first, I thought her voice was a string synthesizer effect, but no, it's a woman. The bowed instrument is an erhu, and it has a good solo in the title tune, Hana.
