ZEUS121996
I picked up a nice pair of RB-5s and the knucklehead cracked off 5 of the 6 pegs on one of the grills. Does anybody have an extra grill, or if I have to buy the pair, I'm OK with it TY Mark Edited January 24, 2015 by ZEUS121996
Moderators Youthman Posted January 24, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 24, 2015 In all fairness, you don't have to be a knucklehead to break them. It's difficult to find grills from RF7, RF5, RC7 etc
ZEUS121996
He broke them in the car on the way to meet me. The grill was facing up on one of the speakers and sideways on the other so they would fit in a box. I don't have to have the grills, they look good without them, just nice to have in case I ever sell them Mark
tnr
Mark, did you get those mahogany ones? If the broken pegs were saved you can glue them back on.
ZEUS121996
No, I ended up passing on them. The picture of the mounting bracket and screws didn't work for me. The screws looked to be 3/4 to 1" long and that would have to go all the way through the backs. I have a pair of RB-5s in black that look perfect except for the one grill Mark

tnr
I would think Superglue would work, but I think I used E6000.

TasDom
You can drill into the broken pegs and put in a round head screw. I did this on the RB5's that I gave to my son. Works great and no one but you will know. (unless some knuckle head takes them off)
Sancho Panza
Can vouch for the round headed screws...on other speakers... Edited January 24, 2015 by Sancho Panza
tnr
"Knucklehead" is being nice. I had a dumb azz contractor want to see the speakers on my RF-7's. I took the grills off slowly and carefully and somehow I got off guard and next thing know he's putting one back on and smacking them in. Didn't break any pegs, but I learned my lesson. No one touches my grills unless they want their fingers broken. Kind of like thermostat etiquette. You don't touch someone else's thermostat. I had to glue one peg on an RF-5II when it arrived from shipping broken.
JL Sargent
I'm beginning to think Gorilla Glue can fix anything.
The History Kid
Super glue is how I fixed a peg on my RC-3 II when it arrived damaged. Works wonderfully.
derrickdj1
the knucklehead cracked off 5 of the 6 pegs on one of the grills. I tried the super glue and it worked for a little while. YYMV. I guess the best way to keep all the grill pegs is to not be a knucklehead, lol.
oldenough
I have repaired the pegs on my rf5's and rb5's using carbon fibre kite rods, a small diameter rod fits inside the hole that is left from the broken peg, the next size up rod then fits over the first, and is the exact diameter of the original peg. The three pegs I have repaired have held up for five years now.
Rivernuggets
Here's what I did to repair some broken pegs and reinforce the ones still intact. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/143995-grille-peg-repair/?hl=%2Bpeg+%2Brepair
mustang guy
Strap em on with some duck tape. That's what us West Virginia hillbilles would do.
ZEUS121996
I guess the word of the day is knucklehead. Thanks to everyone for the support Mark
Woofers and Tweeters
For plastics, polycarbonates and such, I've have great success with Devcon epoxy and or Loctites epoxy . If you can reinforce it with a metal dowel and epoxy, it might be better than new.
ZEUS121996
Nuggets That was a nugget of great advise. The only trouble I had was getting the needle for the syringe. I got the smallest syringe I could at Petco and filled the pegs with epoxy. 2 of the pegs were a tad thinner in diameter, but it seems to have done the job. BTW, needles require a prescription here in Illinois, I guess so you cant shoot up with Heroin Thanks to everyone for the advise, the black RB-5s will be posted here in the next few days for sale.
