thebes
Mike, it's looks like my transortation problems will be solved this weekend, so I will be attending dinner(solo) and the concert. I'll also be happy to put you up for the night. Any chance you could return out of Dulles? I ask because it's only 10 minutes from my house versus an hour each way to BWI. My plan is to see Larry this weekend and let everybody know how he's doing after the visit.

You should be so blessed. LOL [] Hey, maybe we can visit Larry on that Sunday. As for switching to Dulles, I think I could do it but it would set me back another $100, and I really don't have the cash for that at the moment. I terribly apologize for inconveniencing you as such. Deang
I think Deb and myself are going to bow out. Things were starting to look iffy on our end anyways. I'm behind on the work I need to get done on the second car we now desperately need since Deb has gone back to work. Picking her up at 1AM and going back in at 8:30 hasn't been fun. I'm glad you're getting better Larry.

Mike Lindsey
OK, so I guess we will need to know who is still going to the concert. Here was the original list from the other thread: Larry Garymd Marty (Thebes) Mike Lindsey Rich (rplace) and CarolDeanG & Debbie Steve (Customsteve01) & CarolineScott (Boomac)Steve (Skonopa)Rick PoageSfellini (Steven)David (Dr. Pyro) and wife and so far I believe we have the following going: Mike LindseyRick PoageMarty (Thebes)Steve (Skonopa)David (Dr. Pyro) and girlfriendSteve (Customsteve01) & Caroline I know that Rich and Dean (with spouses) will not be going, and assume Scott will not be flying here, so only need to hear from Sfellini (Steven). What do you say Steven? Mike

fini
I guess wheeling Larry into the Strathmore strapped to a gurney (or a Guernsey) is out of the question, right?
picky
I just now caught this thread. I'm so sorry to hear about Larry. I sure hope he gets better real soon. What a shame about the event he worked so hard on. That's gotta suck. -Glenn

thebes
I got by to see Larry today. He's bruised and abused but hopefully on the mend. He's been very much knocked around by his accident but in good spirits. He has suffered serious injuries, will be a long time mending but hopefully the prognosis is good. As luck would have it, he's in what's commonly known as Bethesda Naval Hospital. That's right, the place the President's go to for treatment. Although part of the Navy, it's also part of the National Institutes of Health, an organization in which Larry applied his PhD and obvious skills during a long career in public health. This is a first class joint, they take care of their own, and they are treating Larry like royalty. I do believe they have him in the President's Suite. I was the first to arrive and he was literally surrounded by various members of the female persuasion of various talents and specialities. In the hall outside his room was a crack team of mostly male doctors, surgeons, adminstrative personnel and one lone accoutnant. I'm very suspiscious of this accountant guy because shortly after my arrival the tv screen he was watching the Redskins/Giants game on, suddenly went dead. Moments later the Twins appeared after a brief stop in the powder room to ascertain the state of the starch they had put into their candy-striper uniforms. I must say quite a hubbub ensued. The nurses looked askance at The Twins, and The Twins shot daggers at these interlopers who would dare to provide succor to their own ailing Larry. A brief flurry and the nursing staff was soon in full retreat. More complications soon ensued however, as a vertiable phalanx of male doctors, Admirals, Chief Petty Officers etc. soon descended upon the room to check up on Larry's condition and tangentally have a word with the Twins. Larry, whom I'm sure was getting emotional remembering all the help The Twins had provided when I was painting his house last year, was temporarily overcome and various machines hooked up to him began beeping and bleating and making all sorts of other noises. Of course, with all the noise generated by the crowd these alarums went unnoticed for quite awhile. When it did enter the collective consciousness that Larry was in some distress, vertiable chaos broke out. Everythings cool now though. I'm convinced it was some over-excited rookie who applied those electric paddles to Larry and he was overheard later complaining about the distortion they caused in the fine speakers installed in the machines provided by the Klipsch subsidiary Life Saving Gizmos O-Rama, Ltd. So The Twins have stayed behind to nurture Larry back to good health. I'm home alone with but one worry to my name. What if Bill Clinton gets hurt and can't work will he go to Bethesda Naval to get help?
Daddy Dee
Larry, I am so sorry to hear to your injuries and am glad to see Gary reporting some progress. You are a bright light on this forum and I have enjoyed our visits in Arkansas and on e-mail. Take care. Blessings to you. We are thinking of you in our prayers. Zen Traveler
Ouch!!! I wasn't planning on attending this event but am extremely sorry that Larry had such a bad accident. I don't know him very well but enjoy reading his comments and really liked his insight at the last Pilgrimage. I don't think he will remember me but please convey to him that I wish him a speedy and full recovery. I hope he had a chance to watch Keith Oberman last week while he was in the hospital--I feel he would have enjoyed it. [A]
ben.
I just read about this as I gave the forum a quick look-see before bed. Larry and I have exchanged a handful of emails over the years besides the usual online discourse and it's upsetting to find that he's nicked up. Gary, please let him know that I send him my best and that I'm glad to know he's in such good hands. Of course if there's anything I can do (I can't imagine what it could be, but one never knows) please let me know.

Are we still going to all try and meet up for dinner? Steve Hi Steve, OK, good! I think that gives us 8, and still possibly Gary (I have updated the who's going list above). As for dinner I believe we are all on for that as well but haven't decided where and when, although we could still probably eat at the Italian place Larry booked for us. I believe the reservation was for 5:15 but will check the original thread. I'll also call them today and see if we can change the reservation to 8. If you, Skonopa and Dr Pyro could PM or email me your cell phone numbers that would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
