    • I am also willing to offer my quad of vintage USA Tung-Sol 6550 tubes to the new owner of the VRD Stereo amp for another $350. Not willing to sell them separately. These have approx 1000-1200 hours on them but have always been my favorite output tubes in this amp.
    • Fancy 🤩   I have been a bit more modest on my wallet (at least I think so), Citizen EcoDrive Diver.
    • Diet and weight loss is a game changer with people prone to gain weight. Have an example in my family. Everything written above applies. But obviously not applicable with generally skinny people with diabetes. Diet is primary in that population. Exercises help a lot, but under medical supervision.
    • My KT88 push-pull with 100 watts has excellent bass. Hypex NC400 monoblocks (class D) give me more defined bass. Kenwood M1 with 105 watts in class AB gives better of both worlds; good definition, tight and articulated bass. But not that much better than class D.
    • Both amps are solid, but I'd lean towards the Luxman L-590AXII. Its warm, musical tone pairs beautifully with Klipsch speakers, and the Class A power adds great depth, especially at lower volumes. If the McIntosh isn’t a huge upgrade for the extra 20%, the Luxman feels like the smarter choice.
    • Hello friends , i come to ask you your opinion about the new amp that i am planning to buy. I bought a new Heresey IV pair and im looking for a amp for it , one that would also work fine in my Forte IVs. After some research(Google/forums/Youtube) of mostly of what i could find here where i live (Europe) , i kinda settled between a Luxman L590 AXii  or a Mcintosh MA8000/9000. I dont have a chance to hear them paired to the speakers for any of the two mentioned amps since it is not doable. I did read good things about the Luxman and Klipsch speakers. The Mcintosh would also be like 20% more expensiever than the Luxman. What would your opinion be ?   Thank you

    • I built this about 5 years ago, and spared no expense. It's upgraded with Goldpoint dual mono attenuators and a Goldppoint selector switch, Goldpoint knobs, upgraded RCA jacks, silver wire with teflon sleeves and Superior Zcap capacitors, which were the recommended caps in Troels Gravesen's workup of the GG preamp (see link). It also has a custom made faceplate from Front Panel Express, and a really nice blue LED pushbutton power switch. The preamp works perfectly and sounds terrific. It's currently set up for 12dB gain, but this is easily changed to 18 or 24dB with the swap of 4 resistors.. I have paired this with Quciksilver Horn Mono amps (very nice pairing), Welborne Star Chief 45 monoblocks, Alan Eaton 45 monoblocks, a First Watt J2, Odyssey Khartago SS amps and I'm sure a couple other amps I can't recall. It pairs easily with a wide variety of power amps. It is in great shape, functions perfectly and sounds terrific. The only cosmetic defect is one corner of the case, but it is totally behind the faceplate and not at all visible. And it obviously doesn’t affect the performance in any way (and it looks a lot worse in the photo than in real life). I will include any spare 12au7 tubes I have in my stash, as I don’t have any other equipment that uses that tube. It will, of course, ship with a full complement of tubes, and a generic power cord. Asking $700 shipped.  Or, I would entertain a trade or partial trade for a quality CDP or transport, or a standalone R2R ladder DAC that would be an appreciable improvement over the DAC in my Cambridge CXN v2 streamer. I’ll cover shipping in the CONUS. Contact me with any questions.
    • Thank you very much for your kindness! The tips on soldering are nice, we learnt it at school but long time ago, so first, training on dead / needing repair electronics will be the way. We'll avoid the fine connection wires as well, but I saw many people were rejunevating their speakers by using new diaphragms so I am quite curious about it as well.   Yes and your Khorns wood seems to be a great quality. One of the Heresy speaker is almost fine but another have several mm of space between side pannel and front pannel. Turned out that's why those speakers had internal seals. I have no idea why they didn't reseal them properly at the time but that's what I intend to do this time.
    • Never owned a SET amp but, the PP tube amps that I have owned all had excellent bass.  They all could put out over 25 watts at a minimum and ovcr 50 watts per ch. without  a problem.
