    • They did it because, that's the way it was! Marketing gimmicks that work.
    • This is a superb Superdry scuba watch that I wear from time to time        The face absorbs the surrounding colour and changes appearance
    • May I ask how you are planning on using them? Mobile or home?
    • I thought about those a while back when I knew my 2050i's need some help up top beyond just +15db... that's why I moved to three way with a set of AMT's. I wish I could get back to a two way but would only do so if I can get the sound I look for.
    • Yeah,  For those who don't know or haven't visited, those are just some of the rooms in the Visitor's Center.  The place is huge.  Lot's of cool equipment and different sounding systems.   There are at least a few more rooms not shown.  A Forte 4 room, a Cornwall 4 room, plus more.

    • I recently acquired a pair of Radian 950BePb drivers for use with my Underground Jubilees / K402 and wanted to provide my impressions for those looking to change drivers.   As a back story, I’ve owned my UJ for 6 years now and have now tried 4 different drivers with the K402 horn.   Stock K69 : It is what it is as far as sound quality goes. It’s also plug and play with the help of Roy’s PEQ settings.   Faital HF20AT : This was the second driver I bought and it was a significant step up in sound quality compared to the stock K69.  Paired with a very nice class A amplifier you have an excellent combo.   I have used this driver for almost all of the 6 years I’ve owned my UJ.   TAD4002 : I forgot when I bought my TADs. They were purchased because they were touted as the best driver you could get for the K402. ( and we have Roy’s PEQ settings) They provided that last bit of sparkle the Faitals didn't provide.  However there are negatives when it comes to the TADs.    We all know they are very expensive used, and replacement diaphragms are even more expensive.  I always had a fear of frying the diaphragms and because of this I only used them a hand full of times.   The other issue with USED TADS is that unless you buy them from someone who bought them new, you have NO way of knowing their age or history.  Because of this you run the risk of not getting a pair of TADs match.  Not only in frequency response but also timbre.    You can get around these issues buying TD4002 or TD4001 motors and buying new diaphragms from TAD at a cost of $2400 ea. OR buying a new pair of 4001 drivers for an eye watering price of $4900 each.    Radian 950BePb :  I had my eyes on these for a while and finally made the jump after talking myself into selling my TADs.   I guess the silver lining with the TAD sale was the buyer only wanted the diaphragms.  So I got to keep the 4002 motors and the diaphragms payed for the Radians.    Some of the pluses with the radians are that you can start out with the base 950pb driver then eventually upgrade to BE diaphragms.  You also can buy replacement BE diaphragms at a more digestible price.   I’ve had the Radians for about a month now and I can tell you that they sound FANTASTIC.  That missing beryllium sparkle and airiness was back again. I also noticed an increase in attack and decay that just makes things sound snappier.   They are also very very revealing producing nuances i’ve never heard before in some of my favorite recordings.  ( I know, very cliche)   I’ve attached a few RAW measurements on AXIS @ the horn mouth and 1m back.   You'll notice there is a weird anomaly around 700-1000hz.  Apparently it's some sort of cancellation effect only seen with the K402 and the Radian driver combo.  This anomaly is documented is other horn/driver posts on the web and there is some speculation that its due to the exit angle combination of the driver and horn or something like that.   The trick with this is that you need to make sure that you do NOT correct this dip.   When you do you will get this weird nasal effect caused by the correction of the dip. Another thing i noticed is that like the AXI2050 it requires a bit of shelving to get flat to 20hz.  There is about 15db of correction required between 7 -20khz. This is not issue when correcting with shelving/peqs or with a FIR based filters.   You'll also notice that the phase response of the Radian 950BePB is completely flat.   Something I have not seen outside of the TAD driver.     Knowing opinions are like elbows.  If you're looking to upgrade your existing K402 drivers the Radian 950BePb is a great option. They are a tremendous value compared to the TADS.   I hope this info helpful.
    • I think I’m more willing to spend around 1k. And I am very interested in the focal brand for my headphone choice. I will be buying them when they have the best sales to offer for either black fields or cyber Monday not sure will be best, ehat do you think? Also please get back to me when you have a chance of what are the best Models you’d recommend of focal brand and or some small portable amps that I could pair with it.
    • Would there be any benefit about changing my speakers to the left or right wall? Or are you guys just saying that to be goofy? I have a side door and use that. I care more about the quality of the audio than the convenience of entering and exiting my house lol. Been messing with my mlp and wow they’re really starting to sound great. The speakers are a little over 9 feet apart and in my mlp I’m like a lil over 10 feet from them. They sound really good like this but from moving my head around in my mlp I feel closer might even be better it’s hard to tel tho for sure. I’m also considering moving my jtr subwoofer up front behind my front stage. Wondering if this will increase the bass performance in terms of spl.
    • Cool still hoping once Fido gets a chance to set it up should be really good. He says he’s been working with the attenuators which is great.
