  2. Oh, I thought it might be the cost of the coating or something. It looks like a lot of work to refinish them ready to paint, whereas Duratex will hide a lot of the small stuff. Also, if they had an industrial finish, rather than paint, they might not be scratched so badly.
  3. Yamaha 1010 or 2010 integrated or receivers are vintage (late 1970s), and sound great with Klipsch speakers. The one, I had, had a switch on the front to switch to class A too. Class A is nice for low level listening at its best and great for Klipsch speakers!
  4. Hello, Do you still have your VPI TNT for sale? Thank you

  6. The 1.5t MKII OPT II, has been re-installed is doing well. The “Thump”, has been eliminated, best of all the ceiling fan can be turned on & off without terrorizing our dog, and everyone else in the house. So, a win there for sure. Full disclosure, it’s probably overkill for the family room system, which is mostly TV/Movies 30% usually 5.1.2; with the Carver powering the L&R RP-280Fs. So, it rarely gets the chance to “Rock”. First impressions upon re-install were, that it was a bit harsh on the high end, this has either settled out after several days, or I’ve just grown accustomed to it(maybe it’s just the RP-280Fs that are “harsh”). It now has that usual increase in richness and soundstage that I’ve come to expect with external amplification, even just two channels, frees up the Denon to power everything else better. The Center ch dialogue is clearer without the load of the L&R. For 2.1 music, usually streamed through AppleTV, it is effortlessly reaching insane volume levels, and sounding good. If I get ambitious I’d like to hear it how it sounds with the La Scalas. Moving heavy things around, and re-wiring, is not on my agenda today. if you have one these old Carver amps, check with Nelion Audio, and let Greg work his magic, It’s worth it. Money well spent in my opinion.
  7. I used studs on 8" centers, pink insulation, a layer of 3/4" plywood and then green glue and 5/8" drywall. The sound is pretty damn good with no noticeable vibrations or rattles at any volume. I did a fair amount of soundproofing tricks but the effort to totally isolate becomes a case in diminishing returns fast.

https://www.discogs.com/release/5659673-The-City-Of-Prague-Philharmonic-Alien-Invasion-Space-And-Beyond-II Got this a good few years back because parts of the OST for "Space - Above and Beyond" are on it. It's all recorded in surround stereo. Today I listened to this in surround the first time after all these years. I must say, not bad. There are a few pieces were I prefer the original recordings, but all in all not bad...
  9. I’d probably just clean them and leave them. I like patina on vintage pro gear.
  10. Easier to refinish/modify as they are.
  11. I have an HK 730 with my Cornwalls and love the looks and sound.

  13. Didn't know Bob Ross was in the band either
  14. Maybe for a basement or garage. If they were closer I would buy them as they are, but I would not if they were duratexed. My opinion, as always YMMV, FWIW, etc.
  15. I would pull the grill cover to make sure nothing bled through to the drivers if its just the foam that's an easy fix either wash it or a little paint if need be. Not sure it would be worth the hassle and expense of returning the whole speaker(s) for just the foam / grills, for me anyway.

  17. Anyone have any experience with Small Audio Manufacturer? Their stuff looks nice but I know that looks can be very deceiving.
  18. @kippy I have never seen or heard those speakers before. I would say that if you have a subwoofer. You can do an up close and sit under the speakers. feel the tones. Sync up. Get to condition yourself to the many details and nuances of it vibration. My Ford Focus 2010 had a similar feature where you could feel the tones in your seat. Its not for the faint of heart. But if you have so much happening around you and sound passes through you at low levels. Seen and heard is one thing. Have and felt is another. you have enough stuff in that corner to launch satellites. You may find Bi amping possible too. Bring the bass higher in .db and warm the room. put the cones just in audible range. play everything you can through them. you could have the quietest system that is like a lion. again, different perspectives. right?
  19. DuraTex or ExoHyde and some labor can make them look a lot better.
  20. Yeah, I never have liked the flash on that camera.
