  1. Been out of contact for awhile, thought I should catch up, settled in NC pretty well now the boys are doing great in the new school despite a rocky start (new style of showing work to appease the state on the end of year testing so the schools can secure funding) They take a simple 5+5+___ and turn it into a 3 line equation but I suppose / Hope we only have to deal with that for the remainder of this school year...................still waiting on the railroad to do the right thing 31 months and counting sounds like the hope gathering went well, congrats to all that attended, Waiting on the rain and the boys to get out of school

  2. There are services but part of the problem is everyone leaves at different times, some 8-10 at night some at 4 AM. Plus a taxi service would have to be willing to open a cattle gate and drive to the clubhouse, probably not a problem. If nothing else not everyone has a drink so maby a little carpooling if people plan to roughly leave around the same time. You really hate to have a shuttle bus because it would kind of shut things down and have some leave before there ready, unless it's really late. OK.... so I hate to see a party end, sorry. It will work out, just be responsible

  3. Christy you bring up a good point. The 20 miles from the hotel to RRR. Both nights I drove back, I quit drinking about an hour before I hit the road and started pounding water. I was still paranoid about getting stopped as I was perfectly fine to drive but I'm sure I would have registered over the limit. Pretty much everyone who came by themselves felt the same. I stayed about 1 or 2 mph under the speed limit just to be sure. I don't know how we'd fix that as most people want to leave when they want to leave. A shuttle would be out as it's about an hour round trip. I'll have to give this some serious thought before next year. I could've been DD if I could've made it. Don't drink a lot of alcohol and do fine without it. Maybe can arrange that in advance in future years.

  13. Mornin' everybody. Sounds like the Hope trip was great. Will give serious thought to going next time. Got the new dishwasher bought yesterday and ordered a new wall oven while we were at it. Substantial sale at Sears made it worthwhile, plus our old oven should probably be in an appliance museum somewhere and is next in line to crap out. Garden borders go up today. Baxter states that he's developing a major resentment. Cheers and will try to check back in a bit.

  14. Roger, you ignorant slutte. That was no calliope, that was the "Emperor," a Mortier dance organ that was made in Belgium in the late 1880s. Playing from 80-key cardboard books, the Emperor contained 418 pipes plus 44 xylophone bars and the usual organ traps and was meticulously restored by Paul Eakins of St. Louis, MO. Circus music?? That beloved piece is by Julius Fucik who was trained in composition by Antonin Dvorak. In 1897, became bandmaster for the 86th Infantry Regiment of the Austro-Hungarian Empire based in Sarajevo. It was shortly after that he wrote the piece you heard, the Einzug der Gladiatoren or "Entrance of the Gladiators" which remains patriotic and much loved in the Czech Republic. The recording is the legendary Audio Fidelity AFSD 5975, 1962 and one of the earliest stereo LP releases. Not everything is about the genre...this one is about nuanced listening to a masterpiece of recording and engineering where you can hear each and every linkage, air valve, and such as through an open window to half a century ago. It's for audiophiles. You wanna cross swords with me, buddy? Come on, bring it on... BTW, Danny is a prince and I've no idea where you rented the rest of your family! Dave

  16. I really enjoy listening to Cornwalls in big spaces where they can be played like a loudspeaker should be played! My brother Audiodad brought the center Cornwall to complete the three-channel-stereo set up. Various electronics used inside at Rodney's were brought by USN, Mallette, A-dad, S-dog, and Twisted (I hope I have not missed anyone). Also, Maccagirl83 set up a complete system at the back of the room opposite the stage. And of course, we cannot forget about the karaoke guy! ;-)

  17. Just wanted to make a public thank you to the great "Chief bonehead" He did not know he was going to be able to be in town till about a day and a half before the event, yet he still scrambled to put on a Demo for us and made himself available to party with both nights! If you did not make the time to make yourself available to pick Roys brain and get to know him, then you definately made a mistake.... Roger

  20. Kevin's KP-600 rig idling outside the pavilion. Recorded with my enclosed iPhone which shifts the tone around a good bit.....even so: The new kids on the block. The 1802 and 396 playing outdoors at the factory's top-secret proving grounds, filmed by Kevin and I via a Samsung Galaxy S5. Once again, all simply loafing along:

  21. Looking back through the pic's I didn't see any of what the inside of the clubhouse so here a little. People were spread out, inside on the front porch and the side, and of course we suck at group pics so no one pic with everyone. That's Mr. Rodney in the recliner with blue overall's on. (table pic) Bar pic, the food was laid out to the end of that bar, no shortage of anything. And the last pic, late at night, just for fun.

  24. It was great, the only thing that could have mad it better is if all of you could have been there. It was way more than we could have asked for in a perfect setting. ALSO I can now say I have had the perfect Martini, Carl did not make me a Martini he crafted the perfect Martini, really this was not just thrown together it was perfect, he is a bad influence on me , Thank you.

  25. I live 1.5 hour away if anyone needs these picked up and shipped. In my opinion, these are WAY to expensive!!! I could have hauled a complete LaScala single in that shape for $100 and turned it down! I also bought a pair of Laquered Oak Klipschorns with Cane grills that were complete and in at least as good of condition Locally for $500 complete a couple of years back. Way to expensive for the Local market, I suspect he has a buddy running up the bid on eBay! Roger

  26. I also thought about camping in a tent, but dtel quickly vetoed that idea! Personally, I thought the weather was absolutely perfect for camping. I was thinking blow up mattresses for comfort in the tent. Rodney's clubhouse had shower facilities. Only thing I wasn't sure about was hot running water for the showers!!!! LOL

  30. I will be bringing my exquisite recording of Emperor Penguins having raucous underwater sex as they discuss the merits of krill vs. squid to the next Pilgrimage. It is an uber audiophile recording from the personal audio vault of the Pope. You can actually hear their toenails growing! This I will play as we eat copious amounts of animal flesh as it has miraculous digestive powers that are inexplicable.

  32. Mike, Kev was a boxxer. Don't know if you got to read his shirt about boxing, but you can still see it in his frame from his silohette! I was talking to Roy about my Trinidad Scorpion hot peppers and Kevins known appetite for hot things and Roy said: "Kevin has a cast iron stomach, that's why I don't hit him in the stomach"! and my reply to Roy was "I don't hit Kevin because he might hit me back"! 35. One of the truly interesting aspects of the gathering was that no matter the system, from the big KP-600 rig all the way over to Advent and Marantz system, was that if someone had something they wanted to listen to over that particular system, they were welcome to do so....and many did. No attempts were made to drive the crowd which made for an extremely relaxing and candid experience. Sure, there was the occasional humorous ribbing here or there, but overall there was a significant amount of trust and respect on display by everyone. My hats off the owner/operators of every piece of gear present in accommodating everyone's personal tastes. Two nights and serious power on tap, yet no body let the smoke out. Yes, I owe you that sir. It's in the box.

  36. Okay, so I am going to go all "mushy" on y'all! As always, I am so blessed to be in the presence of so many awesome friends that I have the privilege of calling my family. There aren't very many people that can understand the relationships and friendships that have been formed through the years with these gatherings. I am truly saddened that some of you that have not attended these gatherings can not possibly understand what I mean by the above statements. While we remain a tight group here on the forum there is nothing that compare to meeting each other in person and meeting their family members. This friendship is what continually brings me back to this forum.....so many friends....so many people that I consider to be family.....when someone is not attendance they are truly missed.

  40. We have never attended an event with our Klipsch forum friends that we did not have a downright awesome time. So many lifelong friendships formed. My advice to everyone is to start saving now...we have had members make it all the way to Hope, AR from Canada. In fact, we have had members attend from CA! Start saving your pennies, nickels and dimes...you will be surprised how quickly it adds up. There is room for campers and tents at Rodney's Redneck Riviera or you can just bunker down in the bar/barn itself. Heck he even had mattresses stacked up on pallets...showers and restrooms right there in the facility. It's awesome....can't say enough about this venue and how long we have needed a place like this to gather. When we grow up we want to be like Mr. Rodney....one heck of nice guy!!!!

  41. No problem Carl said to me would you like a martini, I said no at first not wanting him to bother. Then he said those words........"have I ever steered you wrong ?), well he knew the answer to that so I had to say sure, knowing whatever it was, it was going to be good. And it was really really good, the only bad side of it is now if I ever get a Martini when out it's probably going to suck compared to Carls, but it was worth it. Thank You I need to find one of those shakers, I already know the correct amount of times to shake it for perfect results. Christy won't cut you off, if we lived close it might be a different story.

  42. It was really Great to see everyone and to meet some in person for the first time. There is a lot to be said for a perfect venue, and how it can help and fit a particular gathering, this was a perfect venue for what we do. I don't see how it could be better, or have a better host, Mr. Rodney is special, your lucky to meet someone like him once in your life, I don't know what else to say about him. Trey Thank You again, to say the least.

  44. I can't say enough about Rodney Newton's generosity, he allowed us knuckleheads to hang out at his property all weekend and on top of this he cooked 36 racks of ribs on Friday and 60 ribeyes on Saturday night. His kindness will certainly not be forgotten!!!!!! I went to bed at 4:00 am both mornings. Sunday morning when we woke up around 11:00, Rodney was in the club house. He told me that he had gotten a text from Jackie Collie his neighbor who lives north of him. Jackie texted at 5:05 am, "Could you please turn the music down?" Rodney was blown away because he's never had any complaints out there ever before. We called Jackie and he told us that he heard loud and clear, Michael Jackson's Thriller. My brother Brandon had fired the 600's back up at around 5:00 am and he was playing Thriller because the recording is very dynamic. Rodney asked Jackie if he was outside of his house and he told us no, he said I was in my bed and I could hear every word of the song. We were laughing out of control!!!!! We told Jackie that we were sorry and then Rodney told him that we had some big klipsch speakers that were designed with the help of Roy Delgado who was also out there with us at the party. Jackie response was, "You guys need to tell Roy that he needs to go Pro." At exactly the same time both Rodney and I said, "Roy is Pro!!!!!!" In my opinion this is one of the more spectacular klipsch stories. Klipsch speakers have been pissing off the neighbors since 1946 and now they are pissing off farmers in the next county. Another important fact is that this property is not flat ground, its hilly country side along with thick sections of timber. I will try to post the google earth image to show the distance the sound travelled. Once I got home on Sunday night I used google earth to map the distance from Rodney's club house up to Jackie's house. The distance in a straight line is exactly 1.57 miles. Years ago I had an old klipsch pro shirt that i had bought right about the time I met Roy. It was a black shirt and on the back it had: High Performance, High Output, High Fidelity. I guess this story proves beyond any shadow of a doubt exactly what that shirt had on it. Kevin Harmon

  46. Not much has been posted because everyone was really good about being in the moment and enjoying the people around them, and today everyone was homeward bound. I'm sure pictures and impressions will start to trickle in tonight and tomorrow. I'm still absorbing everything that happened and the conversations and the sensory smorgasbord. My perspective? Except for Dave's circus music it was a fantastic event. even when forced into tight quarters i didn't fully socialize with everyone that attended.. and that's all the more reason to come back next year. the klipsch employees were super appreciative for the lunch and attention, tolerant of our gawking stares and cameras while they performed their duties, and all around gracious hosts. the anechoic chamber was cool as shit, especially knowing the decades worth of speakers and engineering efforts that have passed through that room. the food and gear and fun had at the barn was superb. I'd like to see more speakers next year and get some more systems setup for listening to various gear and music genres. ultimately, however, I was there to put a face to names and enjoy some personal interactions. holy smokes - the commemorative etched glasses from Dtel and Dtel's wife! superb! i tried to tone down my snark this weekend, but I do have a reputation to keep so I know it came out from time to time. i'm just glad everyone was able to laugh it off (or too drunk to care). i highly recommend that everyone attends next year.
