  5. Morning gang Bison, black bean & Cheese Burrito's, sounds like the plan of the day. Should look into picking up another HD drive fore the Ol'Pc, this windows 8 machine sucks all around. First cup Duggans enhanced time for a second. I see a Fry's flyby in my future. New Ant install last Sat, that one cost $15 bucks from the swapmeet, a $300 in it's day.(A Vertical). next one requires tree trimming of BOTH neighbors trees hanging too close to the cave. With a little tree trimming, I figure to get @least a 125' run for the long wire ant shortwave. Only have 15' hangin up there now and listening to HongKong news.

Hi BOSS! A large portion of those pictures belong to my good buddy Kevin Harmon who will be playing 4 stack or 12 boxes in Hope for the get together, and several photos in there are shots of some of my cabs. I have a 30ft by 60ft machine shed, and I thought I would put a projector and an insane surround sound in there. I also have been helping my brother in law DJ some school dances for about 6 local schools and thought I might seriously up the ante I would like to get into doing my own sound eventually... Roger

  11. Are you trying to say you don't remember him? He fell victim to nothing. He was extremely knowledgeable about acoustics and a lot of other things including believe it or not music. He also had a mercurial personality which expressed itself in amazing displays of sarcasm, and was likely one of the greatest internet flame warriors of all time. Are you pretending you were not here to witness at least some of it?

  14. I know it had to be one of you clowns ... i just read about a guy that legally changed his name to Bacon Double Cheeseburger. he admits that he had too many drinks when the idea came about; but, said he has no regrets. He is having discussions with his fiance, who (strangely) doesn't like the idea about marrying a Cheeseburger. In all seriousness, if there is a such thing, are there any rules governing what a name can be? Seems like a waste of taxpayer money to process the paperwork for such a stunt (as i doubt he spends the rest of his life with that name -- although since he loves them that much, that may not be a very long time).

  28. What follows is just my opinion... I am also a software developer... Let's just say that our government would never violate our privacy without the legal and Constitutional means of doing so... I'll let the reader decide if they would believe that. One of the biggest secrets our government EVER held was the design of the thermonuclear weapon. Yet, it was stolen and given to our enemies by spies among us. If I put a backdoor into my software for "government use only", how long would it take for a foreign government to figure it out or steal it. Good encryption, at this point, is unbreakable (at least until quantum computers of sufficient size are available). It is the user interface that always gets broken. Make one mistake and they are in. In the late 80's, the government recommended the use of the 56-bit DES. It was considered very secure at the time. Now, the computer I am typing this on, can break that code in less than 3 minutes. WEP was once considered secure for Wi-Fi. Now, this computer can break it in under a minute. Even the current standard WPA-PSK is not secure enough to withstand a prolonged attack. Finally, need I remind the reader that just recently, hackers (probably Chinese government in origin) managed to retrieve a large portion of the federal personnel database. They can't even keep THEIR data secure. That investigation is still ongoing. In my opinion, no. Even if I believed that our government would not eventually abuse the backdoor, in no way do I believe that they could keep it secret, or that a foreign enemy might not find a way in. Backdoors are built-in insecurity. Even if you believe that you have nothing to hide, I can assure you that you do. While you might not be breaking any laws, there is a great deal of information, business and personal, that you would not ever want made public. In point of fact most, if not all of us, also break laws on an almost daily basis, of which we are unaware of their very existence. Just recently, I was informed of a law that I was breaking and didn't even know it was there. Not a big deal, really. But, do I want a foreign government building up a dossier on me, what I do for a living, how much money I don't have, etc? Not really. Think about how many things you say in emails, texts, notes... that you would never want made public. Finally, remember Richard Jewell. He was the guy that found the backpack bomb in Olympic Park. Once he became a person of interest, his life became an open book. He was destroyed in the media. Just imagine what could have been found out about him in this current day. We didn't even have an internet then. Yet, in the end, after his life was destroyed, he was found to be a hero that saved many lives. But, he never recovered from it. I could go on and on....

  33. Everything I wire is like that, you can plug in any power tool anywhere and not dim the lights, plus I place a receptacle every 6 feet of wall space so you are never more than 3 feet from a receptacle. I also am an absolute believer that it is impossible to put in to much lighting. My bedroom for example has two 3 bulb fixtures in the middle centerline of the room and six can lights, 3 on either side of the room. I have two 5 bulb fixtures and a florescent tube in my bedroom closet! Wiring isn't all that expensive, why in the hell should you ever need to run an extension cord or want for more light? Roger

  34. I hear what you're saying but if you don't go down any of those rabbit holes and just choose to not participate in threads where those things are taking place, then it's all good. My experience here is 100% positive and has been since I've joined. I try and help people where I can, get loads of help from others enjoy a lot of humor and try to inject some myself along the way. I don't feel that there's anyone on the forum that has any ill will against me and nobody that I have any distaste for either. Stick around Jim, and just swim away from the drain.

  38. I took this out of the box actually and connected it for about 8 hours once. It has been on my shelf since and is really brand new in all the original packaging. This model has a digital input which has been discontinued in the latest models. Perfect condition in all regards and a deal for someone interested in a high featured value active crossover. $225 shipped to lower 48.

  39. I have a set of AA crossovers that I just pulled from my newly purchased 1978 LaScalas. I've been listening to them for several weeks with these crossovers. I'm selling them because I just installed Bob Crites new AA crossovers. I considered rebuilding these, but just wanted new parts all around. As a result my original AA crossovers are for sale. How does $100 plus shipping sound?

  44. Sharpening typical stainless steel kitchen knives are a weird deal, just doesn't work the same as sharpening a high carbon quality hunting knife. In reality you rarely ever have to actually sharpen one with a stone or whatever. Ought to be hitting it with the steel all the time though. What's also interesting about the honing steel is that the steel itself is typically an abrasive. It doesn't just hone the blade and straighten the thing up in the traditional sense, but it introduces tiny little tooth-like serrations that rip through material. This is actually what you want on common kitchen knives, a jagged edge. A razor's edge sounds cool for bragging rights but it's not really a good thing on common stainless kitchen knives. Such an edge will dull and warp easily, you'll just be sharpening it all the time.

Matt 1970 just sounded so "generic". Changed it to "Matthews". That is what my Grandpa would always call me. Everyone else called me Matt but not Grandpa, I was Matthews
