  1. Me and The BOSS was eating some lunch at the this afternoon and the phone rang...... The BOSS looked at the caller ID and said this is for you..... The caller ID said "Just Audio" Oh yea the audio shop calling me about my gear..... Holly from the audio shop.... before we got into how much it was going to cost to have my gear fixed we had a few laughs. I was telling her that some of my customers are scared when I call them from my shop. They have no clue what I'm going to tell them about there car and how much it's going to be to fix it. So I told her I was alittle scared at what she was about to tell me lol lol so yea we had a few laughs about business.... She told me the Carver was going to cost $251 to get it back up to spec....all new caps and some work on the circuit board...it got fried... So I didn't think that was too bad.... I said go ahead and fix it. I asked her while the tech has it apart how much would it be to upgrade the meter lights with blue LED's... she said I'll have to check let me call you right back... OK cool.... About ten minutes goes by and Holly calls back and tell me about $30 more will get some LED's in the meter's... OK I said do it... I said I had one more question..... I said you guys have a auction on e-bay now for a Carver 4.0t amp..... She told me she does not do the e-bay part of the business but what is the question.... I said the amp was listed last week for $600 obo and did not sell.....it's now buy it now for $500...... My question.... would you take $400??? Holly says let me ask the owner I'll call ya right back...... I've talked to the owner a few times and he seems a cool guy...... I know I kinda gave em a low ball offer but whats the worst that can happen.... Holly calls back a few minutes later and tells me the best he can do is $450.... OH yea I'm in.... I told her I'll take it.... pull that listing off e-bay before someone buys my amp .....One of those 18 watcher's should have jumped.......... Man she was laughing at me So Yea got me a Carver 4.0t... that is one bad a$$ amp..... and for $450 checked out and ready to go..... Will picking it up Saturday Later... MKP :-)

  6. At least one part of my shop is completed. New AC and gas furnace. Nothing like having central heat and air in your shop. Making progress. Just difficult laying everything out. I have to keep moving motorcycles around! A couple of 305 Dreams, and CL 160, Cl175, a CL100S, and of course, my 750 Nighthawk. I just hope I have room in it to get the Fiero inside. My have to put up another building just to house the Fiero and BMW. Don't know when I will get around to the Fiero V-8 conversion or restoring the Beemer. Still have pair of Epic CF-2 being driven by an HH Scott 335 (early SS). Get enough room and I can start cycling amps and speakers. In the shop.

  8. Yeah, Tarheel your CC&C group is dropping like flies. Not sure what all you guys have been doing over here, but the numbers are dwindling. I would suggest more photos of LF and attendance will be on the upswing again.

  11. Kits are available, just Google it. My friends dad threw a hot rod Cadillac 500 Ci In motor in a MG midget, not that was a custom job. We did many big block Mopar swaps into Diplomats, Dart and Fifth Avenue and even a Gremlin. V-8 Vega was another popular swap.

  15. FYI If you need a replacement glass for your McIntosh or any fairly popular vintage piece of gear check here http://www.radiodaze.com/dials-glass-26/ and if they don't have it you can send your broken pieces in they will use them for making a reproduction. I've done this with them a number of times.

  17. Going to have to look into the music situation Mike. She has whole house sound system but wants to do a two channel in the tv room. She has mentioned using one of my 3 R2Rs and she has a B&O turntable. Thinking of some used Heresy speakers. May ask my bud bluesboy to build some single driver speakers on pedestals but he is on the other coast now. Will have to see. And yes the LF is mighty fine

  21. Yes they prune pretty well, just regular pruning or cutting back pretty hard ? Regular pruning can be done anytime, cutting back hard i would need to check my maple book.. I like the purple plant on the other side also, Loropetalum, or purple plume delight, I have some like that they can be cut without worrying also if needed. Also if any of the azaleas need pruning do it before the end of May, if later most azalias will not bloom next year, this helps them stay full and not get tall and empty looking. You trim on the stem right AFTER where it branches into 3-4 stems which is where it was trimmed last time, every time you trim it branches which makes it look full instead of leggy. But you do your azaleas so you probably know this already. They look to be in good shape, they may have bloomed and have been cut back already ? You can tell by looking at a stem.

  26. Your on the right track. Keep it going your doing well, apparently the boss paid attention in girl class, she has done a good job with training, you do know there taught this stuff right ? What else could it be, I have been in training for 37 years and have caught on to only a few things, I'm a slow learner it seems.

  27. It has always worked so far, nice looking couple but strangely pic's of just her seem to be more popular.

  28. Looking at the pic just remove a couple small branches that hang the lowest on that side, it won't hurt it at all cut them, just cut back a little further back than needed because they will sprout back quickly. Your pretty tall as long as there way out your way your good.

  29. That must have been quite interesting. Where there a lot of people? Flowers? Cold rainy Thursday morning, only a dozen people. Thousands of purple balloons tied to the perimeter fence.

  30. Ok guys I'm up for hosting a sub shootout, Jason brings some horns, Jay the Klipsch, l have some DIY an we can see who else might be interested. This is the only real way to settle things. Just like the Old Wild Wild West, he, he.

  31. I agree with Pete, this is a good sub amp and at the new price, a very good deal. Having it set up with the rest of your components makes it so much easier to adjust the x over and gain without crawling around behind you subs. I have one driving a couple tapped horns and it is more than enough power. It's specs are right in line with the plate amp you want to replace teaman, should work great. I also have the big brother to this one the SA1000 and have been running that one for years with no problem. They do not like low ohm loads though. If your looking to drive a 2 ohm load, these aren't for you.

  32. An audible difference in volume when running a low power 2 watt tube amp between the left and right channels from a central listening position. In my experience this was absolutely noticeable at low listening levels. I could hear no audible difference when the amp was cranked up though.

  35. There are so many things that I get exposed to on this forum, that I would have never even contemplated. I would also like to thank Arash, and others like him that build some really odd things that allow me to tell Denise that "I don't have a problem at all, just look at this" You go buddy! This should be interesting.

  39. I just brought home 6P185 and 6P183. It seems odd that the serial numbers are close but not consecutive. Is this common? Can one measure resistance at the terminals of each woofer, swaker, and tweeter and determine if a voice coil is "open" or "short"? Is there an established protocol to reawaken long slumbering La Scalas? Is it possible to test the state of the cross-overs? They are the AA edition. I am pretty excited to finally have some "big" speakers. Bob

  40. I took your suggestion and sat backwards in the sweet spot. The sound still favors the left side. So even though I get occasional ringing in my right ear since the sinus thing....there appears to be something going on with my system that is causing this.Like I said before, my solid state setup has always imaged dead center and my tube setup wants to favor the right side. Now my ss setup has been favoring the left side for the last few months. Coincidentally, this all started about the time I added a second THTLP subwoofer. Only way to find out will be to temporarily take the second sub out of the equation temporarily. Sent from my SM-G920R4 using Tapatalk

  41. You can ask him, but I don't think so.... He really should offer a group buy, maybe at a discounted rate so that he can get more of the pieces that are needed. These preamps are so worth having, so it is a shame not being able to get them.

  45. I'd just throw down the cash for a pair of Danley THT 812's and call it a day. 146db continuous output. They are 5' x 5' x 2' 4" and weigh in at 42 stones. Who even knows how much they cost, but I bet $20,000 wouldn't come close.

  47. Here is mine, I am running a TH Spud Clone. Bass to me is good, but I might not know what good bass is. To me, at this point its all about the mid/hf horn. Why i will be looking for another EV hp640. It needs less equing and the sound is larger.

  48. That's some stout wire! The price looks pretty darn good too for copper instead of copper plated aluminum like you see everywhere for cheap. With that wire a 100' run would be no problem at all. PS: Just make the speaker wires the length you need. You won't notice the difference and you will be glad not to be tripping over it.
