  1. Hey all, We have been quite pleased with the overwhelming success of the limited run of 70th Anniversary edition Heresy and Klipschorns. So much so that I've been told to ask you all about your thoughts on possible future "custom" Heritage speakers. We're talking strictly cosmetics here - finishes and grilles. What finish / grille combo(s) would you love to see and be interested in for the Khorn / Heresy III / Cornwall III / La Scala II? I'll be compiling this thread and handing it over to key decision makers sometime soon. We are just gauging interest for now, so let's hear it! Oh yeah, these of course would be built in Hope just like always. Thanks!

  2. Good looking family Bruce, glad to see you had a safe trip. Speaking of trips. Where is everybody, its like they are all hungover from a big old party of some sort. Amateurs. Stew, my daughter decided to pick up my bass and start learning. She seems pretty stoked, as she all ready has learned Jingle Bells. She is all ready a trumpet player in band at school. I love the fact that she has this great interest in music. Coffee is good.

  7. I wonder if they would sell us a pair of Heresy's at cost with the provision they be given to an employee in a raffle.

  8. I think it would be Heresy to put some Chinese made bluetooth speaker in the american Klipsch factory.

  9. That's the thing about just drinking martinis and not mixing. No headache or hangover the next day. If I would have drank the alcoholic equivalent of beer I would have felt really nasty the next day.

  13. Friday I got a chance to talk to a few employees in back by the outdoor system. One of them has worked at Klipsch for 20 years. He also has been building the sub to that outdoor system we listened to. But he and a few others said they have never heard any of the products that they make let alone afford them. So what I would like to propose is to take a collection up and buy a new or used set of speakers so the workers could have a raffle also. We could do it next year or even this year. I was feeling rather guilty when we all were getting nice stuff from Klipsch but the people who make it do not get to enjoy it. I even thought during the raffle if I won some thing really nice to donate to this cause. How cool would it be to present a new pair of speakers to one of the employees to show how much we appreciate them. Please lets do not forget about the people that actually build these great speakers.

  14. Wow, that's awesome. I just wanted to say thank you James! I just listened to dire straights brothers in arms sacd, and I've only half way got them dialed in, so much music from the Forte's awesome. Definitely an upgrade from the Heresy's. I got a great deal from a great guy and I can't thank you enough! Sent from my SCH-I435 using Tapatalk

  18. Thanks SonicSeeker. The love of music has been strong in my family for generations and I too wanted to pass that down to my children. I am happy to say that one of my daughters is a professional musician, so I look forward to hearing her newest release on this system!

  29. Music improves my productivity. Studies have been done that prove that it does in others too. There are no OSHA regs on it as long as the music isn't too loud. I like to turn my LaScala's on full mono and listen to a radio station that plays hits from the 70's and 80's. It isn't loud, and it is a hell of a lot better than when I don't have it on. I will be surprised if anybody here would disagree. We are a bunch of music lovers. Even people who aren't can have a better life if it is included, and who knows, they may actually become music lovers like we are. next thing you know they will be loggin on to the Klipsch forums.

  32. I'm embarrassed to say that a previous set up many years ago left me to abandon listening to any vinyl and my vinyl collecting ended about mid 1980s...so I had never given the McIntosh MA6200 phono section a try... Inspired yesterday by another thread on another Forum, I breathed new life into a pair of Klipsch kg2s adding a pair of Bob Crites Titanium tweeter updates...sounded very nice... Today, I found myself with some time and dug out my old but rarely used Technics SL-1300 direct drive turntable with it's near mint Shure V-15 Type III...I picked this TT up many years ago along with the cart hoping to reinvigorate the old vinyl days, thought less of it after a listen and put them away and basically forgot about them... With the extra time, pair of speakers hooked up to nothing, I decided to put a system together to listen to them...seeing the TT I decided, why not... Listening to my old copy of The Secret Policeman's Other Ball and this combination sounds wonderful... I have better speakers that I could team this with but for right now, I am listening to some components that I haven't heard in maybe 8-10 years and am really enjoying the synergy with this McIntosh integrated amp...yum I know I want to downsize but I may have to hold on to some of this a bit longer... 33. Just lookig for opinions as the cornwalls are a pain to move around.... I have a pair of LaScala's as fronts and a pair of KLF 30"s as rears looking for center channel options. Using a chorus II now was thinking of moving a cornwall into the center position any comments? DB

  34. The K-horns are $16,000 a pair, Heresy is $3,200 a pair. Last I checked there were still a few K-horns available. This guy has been shopping these all over the place. The issue is the price...$16,000. Unfortunately, many of us may no longer be the target market for a new pair. However, it would appear from the information above that calhockey10 and MetropolisLakeOutfitters are estimating that it could take about $12,800 to acquire the new fancy walnut with the fancy name badge pair of 70 anniversary Klipschorn loudspeakers. In relation to the twelve common higher-end brand names listed below that can be found mentioned in many audio publications, can you find a better price/performance ratio in the respective top of the line loudspeakers for each of these brands? While I'm sure that some will ultimately believe they have, I believe that in almost all of the instances in question below, the specific model that I have listed or the top model of the general brand that I have listed, will cost much more and arguably none will be following PWK's 8 Cardinal Points. 35. W10 is definitely a better performing MS than all before. But it's definitely "big brother." As to Duck Duck Go, I certainly like the concept but I still have to return to Google often because it really sucks on so many searches. Dave

  39. i didn't read any responses... add my name to the list of people who use Emotiva. i currently have the UMC-1, soon to upgrade to MC-700. i have also used an LPA-1 in normal and bi-amp configurations. i am currently using an XPA-3. this is actually my set up right now. here is a short you tube video using the LPA-1 and XPA-3 with the UMC-1. it's not really a comparison video, there is not way to tell by being recorded through a phone and played on computer speakers. XPA-3, LPA-1, UMC-1, RF-7, RC-7

  40. Yes, bookshelves like RP-160M's would be much easier to pull off due to the cost, but something don't seem right about that does it. Heresy would be nice.

  41. The point was to get them a speaker they actually make.....I have always worked at low wage jobs and affording Klipsch was just a dream for many years. This day and age affording them on todays wages is even more unlikely. I think it is the least we could do since many of us have several speakers in our own houses. But I can see there is not a whole lot of support for this by the lack of posts. I might try to this on my own because it needs to be done.

  42. Don't over react Travis, it's under control. I'm thinking they are very early 1989's. Mine are from sep 89 and have the traditional tags with the normal coding. These look to be (from the tag) just before that.

  47. If you're not suffering from 1) audible hiss, or 2) an overly sensitive volume control, don't worry about it. If you are experiencing those, you'll improve s/n and have less of a hair-trigger volume control on the pre-amp if you reel in the gain control on the amp. The general rule with system gain staging is to run upstream stages fairly hot (while still avoiding clipping), and only raise the gain on the amps high enough to achieve the desired listening level. With higher sensitivity speakers such as ours, that is the recipe for a system with the proverbial black background. I only use amps with gain controls in the Klipsch rig for that very reason. What amp and pre are you working with?
