  1. LS and Belles are fully horn loaded speakers = superior in that comparison. I like them in this order: Klipschorn (if you have the corners), Belle (best looking Klipsch speaker), LS, Chorus II, Cornwall, Chorus I, Forte II, Forte I for upper Heritage Klipsch speakers. That said I have Heresy IIs too that we really enjoy around here.

  2. This really sets me off! If there is a vote and the Chorus II wins over the obviously better Khorn...I'm moving to Canada.

  3. I have now heard every Heritage and Extended Heritage model except the Cornwall. I did own Cornscalas for a bit though, so I can take a decent guess at the Cornwall sound. Out of all of them...the Chorus II are my favorite. No speaker is perfect and they all have compromises. The Chorus happens to strike the perfect balance for me. Now I could explain why I like them over all the rest, but I wanted to see if I was immediately banned and shunned for not choosing the mighty Khorn first.

  4. I keep looking on the Klipsch website for the 70th anniversary edition of the Chorus II but cant find it! Guess it wasn't the killer they thought it would be! They are both very fine speakers. I have never been blessed with the great critical ear that many here must have. I have many favorites and it is usually the pair I am listening to at the time. I do know crap when I hear it and most speakers I have heard fall in that category. Most of the Klipsch I have heard, I have loved. I'm the same way with coffee, wine, whiskey, etc. I know what I don't like and beyond that, I'm usually happy with whatever is set in front of me.

  7. I wasn't going to say anything, but... ...I own Khorns. My (modded) Epic CF-4's are the best speakers I've ever heard. Thanks for bringing it up, James...troublemaker.

  8. The reason I personally write off the CF and for the most part the KLF lines are because of the lack of parts. Not only are there no replacement woofers available for the CF line there are no horn drivers either and the cabinets weigh a TON. As far as I'm aware there are no replacements for the KLF woofers either. Crites sells a "woofer" meant to be a replacement for the 30's but they're not the same and I wouldn't feel comfortable only replacing 1 of his woofers, would want to do all 4 at the same time and that would be spendy. Yes, this concerns me because I have blown two KLF-30 woofers and was very fortunate to find used replacements. I have friends who have blown several forte woofers as well so yeah, replacement parts are kind of up there on the list for me when considering a speaker choice.

  9. Many of us on here have suffered Klipsch speakers following us home.

  10. Whole lot of Chorus love going on here lately. I would still expect you to be shunned by many, but you wont be alone. Maybe you guys can start your own forum. I have only heard one set of Chorus and they were the version I that Matthews had redone and they did sound great. I'm still a LS (or Belle) guy but have to admit there is a lot of merit in the Chorus I & II!

  11. If you do need to to do some work on the panels, it's not all that difficult, so definitely don't let that scare you from the mahogany. As Mr. Weber rightly says, those are few and far between, and really gorgeous. I would truly love to hear them in my room, give them a head to head against the Chorus II's....

  12. Mike, the sad truth is Cornwall IIs are just plain horrible! I think your only option is to sell them to me, at an absurdly discounted price, and get something else

  13. Looks like you're more sensitive than any Klipsch speaker.

  16. Afternoon all... Was a good week at the shop and looks like next week will be busy So over the years of working on cars I've seen all different company's parts on different vehicles.... Like Denso / Bosch makes electrical parts starters/alternators..... Akebono / Advics / Nissin makes brake components..... and that's just to name a few of OEM manufactures... Anyway I had this Toyota 4runner Sport in the shop yesterday. It had a very unique suspension system on it. The hydraulic shocks/dampers on it were all connected through tubes. There were two main components on each of the frame rails called center control absorber assembly's... never seen anything like this before.... anyway they were stamped "Yamaha" on them. I've never seen any Yamaha components on ant vehicles.. Kinda cool.. Looks like a slow weekend happening... not much going on.... a good weekend to all MKP :-)

  17. Yea It's got that chest thumping ability..... now I don't own and I have never heard Khorns. I'm just going on the sound my LaScala's have to me.. We haven't spoke about powering the Chorus yet...... and I don't want to get into a watt argument.... but hear's how I see it... (hear it) IMHO When I play my wonderful LaScala's I'll power them with one of my Adcom 555II's. More than enough power for those speakers. But lately I've been using a re-capped Carver M500t that one of my Carver site friends let me borrow. Really nice amp imho.... So in using that amp we can see how much power were really putting into those LaScala's.. and yea as we all know just a few watts get them sounding great..... But like alot here I like to turn the volume knob to the right.... you know how it is..... a good track will be next and you just gotta turn it up some So yea there are some tracks that I'll put some power to em.... I've had those power needles jumping up into that 200+ watt range.... it fills my living room with sound..... At 200 watts those LaScala's are done!! again I want to say I don't always pound 200+ watts into my LaScala's.... Now flipping to the Chorus.... at 200 watts those thing are just getting warm.... it's not until that 300+ watt mark is hit that they start putting out their full potential... and when I say full potential..... it's the BASS, that chest thump those speaker have... As I posted earlier there like a Rock Concert...... and when I go to Rock concert I want to feel the music.... Two wonderful Klipsch speakers that each a have there own sound..... When I had my Carver buds over a few weeks ago, the one guy liked my Chorus I's over all the speakers we listened to. The one guy never heard any Klipsch. So I was kinda laying off the volume.. I was making sure they were digging the tunes.... but as the day went on the volume knob got turned to right.... they seemed to like it. I kept asking "is it too loud for you guys?" Both of them kept saying "bring it on" The other Carver member liked my EVi's the best.... We sat on the deck with the EV's playing and how they were reflecting off the house he got up and starting looking for another set of surround speakers... At the end of the day both the Carver guys loved the horns.... Each one giving there own input on each speaker and amp combo we tried... MKP :-)

  18. Yes. But I cheated: I've got ~50% more filters/channel that had available to flatten everything out more. So I can't really separate that from the basic fidelity of the two units. I also learned how to use REW's equalizer function much better. It allowed me to dial everything in about an hour using completely new settings (from scratch) for each channel. That same exercise took me six weeks of fairly hard work when I started in the fall of 2014. Now it takes about an hour for all five surround channels. I no longer have to crawl around on the floor hand-typing in the new settings and doing "trial and error" on the PEQ settings. Chris

  19. I just got the Xilica XP-8080 installed and dialed in a few minutes ago. "Whoo boy..." I'll write about the process I used...in a day or so..after I listen to my new system for a while. (EDIT 13-Nov-2016) A link to that thread: and a link to a related thread on using REW to optimize the parametric equalization filters for digital crossovers: Chris

  22. I would be surprised to hear someone got any of the 1,2 or 3 and wasn't happy. Unless they have been spoiled by years of something bigger and better. Corns are a great place for peps to peak into the pwk side of klipsch. They can be found really cheap and also replacement parts for every part you can think of (with costs pretty low). Its amazing to me how much attention his speakers still get everyday. The word timeless probably has no other that nails its meaning like his speakers do.

  25. You did not make a blanket statement that the Chorus II is the "best". You just said it is your favorite of the bunch. Your opinion, your experience, your choice. Nothing more nothing less. Enjoy. Bill

  26. I hear what your saying jimjimbo.... My LaScala's have more of a open sound stage... there is music I think sound the best on them... they were the 1st Klipsch I got.... To me the Chorus are like a Rock Concert.... they put out that music that you can just feel and I am not shy to put the power to em....IMHO the Chorus I's or II's kill the LaScala's in the bass dept. YES it is..... I'll power my LaScala's with a Adcom 555II and power the Chorus with a Carver TFM-55.... but I'll throw a sub in there.... just cuz MKP :-)

  28. This is pretty timely for me, cause I'm doing a bit of fooling around with my configuration tonight and over the weekend..... There's a lot to be said for all of above mentioned, but until you've had the opportunity to A/B/C them with a switch off of the same amp/preamp/source, I'd say it's not even a fair fight between Khorns and Chorus II's. And honestly, not even a fair fight between La Scala's and Chorus II's either. The difference in the presentation and imaging is startling to me, and so much more realistic with the Khorns and LS. Side by side, next to the big boys, the Chorus II and Forte II's just sound so.....congested, and held back. I will admit that the Chorus and Fortes sound better to me via SS than through tubes. Because of that, I'm getting another MC250 that I'm going to run monoblock to the Chorus II's, which I think will make a big difference. What really, really sounds amazing is either Khorns or La Scala's paired up and running with Chorus IIs/Forte II's. Level match them, and the combo is freakin' stunning. Believe me, you don't need no stinkin' sub for La Scala's in that configuration.... Just put in the Crites Ti diaphragms into both Forte II's and Chorus II's, and they sound very good so far.....

  30. It really depends what you're looking for in a speaker. The Khorns are definitely awesome, but the Chorus II have some abilities the Khorns don't. As far as most balanced, I'd actually give that award to the Forte I. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. I have to say that since I have joined this forum I have heard nothing but praise for the Chorus speaker and its almost always followed by, "Its the most balanced speaker I have ever heard".

  32. OK, I'll be honest with you.....guess I'll play the bad guy here....again....the photos don't do them any big favors, as the finish looks dark and uneven. Perhaps it's the photos themselves, but perhaps not. The grills are worn and looking dusty. Certainly appreciate the effort you made, and I'm sure it was with dedication and care. My opinion on the price considering condition would be $600/$650. More folks to come along soon I suspect....Good luck with your sale.

  33. I've heard the Chorus I as well. Although good, I find the II to sound like a completely different speaker. The way they present themselves have put them at the top for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  34. I have the backs cut. Just need to install the ports and screw on. Then done except paint. Any curves would be in a third video. I also will expand the FAQ on Fastlane Page. I can only work on them on weekends....14 hour days this past week.

  36. More finds while cleaning out my cavern. I bought this Canon A-1 to replace my AE-1when deployed to Japan in the 80's and thought I would get into developing; never happened, never used it. I remember that I put a roll of film in it, test for a couple of shots, removed the film (never developed) and put the camera, lenses and flash in the bag until today.

  39. Hey dstarchman welcome to the forum... I have not owend the KLF-30's yet.... I have the KLF-C7 center and would like to get the 30's ..... one day I can tell ya the Chorus speakers rock....both I's and II's MKP :-)
