  2. First cup of coffee down. Now off to take the grandson to school. Then later this morning I continue the job of putting up wainscot on the living room ceiling, at my friend's mom's house. This not having a job sure is tiring. By the way, I will be in Hope on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

  4. Afternoon gang Welp, the wife is a trooper, better than me, two+ hours in the chair and needles only. I would have sucked down a tank of N02. Ice packs & a few pills for a couple days. I booked out of the office, Breakfast, Harbor Freight for pop rivets.......and that IS retirement.

  7. Mine isn’t as serious of a problem as you have trying to get that chip. Mine is a 1982 Balley’s Double-Up dollar machine. My initial problem was the third wheel kept spinning. messing around trying figure out the brake for that wheel. accidentally got it locked; but, then the other two unlocked and i can’t pull the handle. i was being kind to myself when i said i wasn’t mechanically inclined--moving parts defy me. Sure is a fun piece to have around when working. I know the fix is simple because i’ve been in Vegas back in the day and this same problem happened, the tech would open it and five seconds later the machine was working fine. I just don’t know what he was doing to fix it. No owners manual for it either.

  19. No it's not, at all, and for years now it seems and getting worse. ( i messed up, that quote is from richieb ) Thank You, it's sad what these people go through just to try and do a tough job most would not want. Yes there are some bad cops, and probably always will be, but the majority are good.

  20. I know, last time I went to a dentist he took my BP and said I can't do anything with your BP this high, here have some gas that should help. He asked why is it so high, I said because your certificate on the wall says dentist, that's enough. He laughed and came back later after about 20 minutes of gas, and I was better. He did well, no pain really but I still hope to never go back even though I need more work. No other doctor bothers me but a dentist.

  28. Solid well thought-out decision. The group-think does not guarantee you will get the 100% perfect AVR but it just about guarantees you will not get the worst one. However, I have to confess that I am just a bit depressed nobody picked my beloved Onk, sniff sniff. And Mr. @teaman, saying that Onks run hot? The new ones don't. That's just hurtful.

  29. I would like to think that I would not make fun of family but this photo of trailer house, women in cowboy boots and a cuz that looks like he's wearing rubber boots struck me as, as, well real in my part of town. One wouldn't think that the 'rubber boot' wearing bridegroom owns a golf course.

  32. I came across a joke earlier in the week and the goat jokes reminded me. I think this is appropiate and if not, Carl, please delete it. Reporter: "Excuse me, may I interview you?" Man: "Yes!" Reporter: "Name?" Man: "Abdul Al-Rhazim." Reporter: "Sex?" Man: "Three to five times a week." Reporter: "No no! I mean male or female?" Man: "Yes, male, female... sometimes camel." Reporter: "Holy cow!" Man: "Yes, cow, sheep... animals in general." Reporter: "But isn't that hostile?" Man: "Yes, horse style, dog style, any style." Reporter: "Oh dear!" Man: "No, no deer. Deer run too fast. Hard to catch."

  37. Combined with the registration information, that gave Bose access to personally identifiable information that Zak and other never agreed to share, the complaint says. Listening data can be very personal, particularly if users are listening to podcasts or other audio files that could shade in information about their political preferences, health conditions or other interests, the complaint argues. The filing also alleges that Bose wasn't just collecting the information. It was also sharing it with a data mining company called Segment.io, according to research conducted by Edelson, the Chicago-based law firm representing Zak. Damn yo beat me to it>>>LOL ....Cheers folks

  40. I own more than two dozen tube amps, installed in 5 different systems. All amps have been restored, and are in good working order. Tube rolling IME affects sound quality. Most amps only support specific tubes. While IME there isn’t a huge difference in the sound quality of different manufacture’s tubes of the same type (e.g., 12AX7), I can usually tell the difference. Here’s the new production 12AX7s that I tested a few years ago: (I also own many different vintage 12AX7s.) Only one of my tube amps supports different types of tubes: my Inspire SEP amp. Changing the output tube to a different supported type results in a significant change in sound quality. (Certain rectifier tubes must be used with certain output tubes.) Similarly, different input tubes are supported. Here’s the output tubes that I’ve tried in my Inspire amp: Zenith 6V6G (vintage) Sylvania 6L6GA (vintage) Sylvania 7408 (vintage, 6V6 variant) Mullard EL34 Bugle Boy EL34 (vintage) Russian 6P3S-E (Russian military surplus 1980s 6L6GC equivalent) Groove Tube Gold Series GT6L6GE (6L6GC) McIntosh branded GE 6L6GC (vintage) GE 6L6GC (vintage) Tung-Sol 7581A (6L6GC variant) Tung-Sol 6L6G (6L6GC in a big bottle) Gold Lion KT88 Tung-Sol KT150 Gold Lion KT66 Sylvania 5881 Here’s a pic of some of the output tubes I’ve tried (with various supported rectifier tubes) in my Inspire SEP amp: Rectifiers that I’ve tried: 5Y3, 5U4, 5U4GB, 5V4, 5V4GA, 5AR4 (multiple manufacturers of each) Front-end (9 pin miniature socket) tubes that I’ve tried: 6CG7, 6N1P-EB, 6DJ8, 6N2P-EV, E88CC My results are irrelevant to anyone else. First, my tube-rolling is based on an Inspire SEP amp, whereas the OP is using a VRD amp. My speakers are Klipsch RF-7 II; the OP is using Klipschorns. We are likely listening to different types of music, at different levels, in rooms with different acoustics. And we probably have different preferences for which inevitable imperfections in sound quality we are willing to accept. Because of the number of variables, tube rolling is subjective. And a lot of fun … until it drives you crazy … My suggestion to the OP is that he will probably hear a significant difference in sound quality with 6L6GC compared with KT88, and he can decide if he likes what he hears. OTOH, he might find that he likes KT77s.

  41. I just wanted to follow-up on my posts above and give due credit to Vlad and Klipsch. Vlad was patient, super-helpful, and generous, in helping me over these last several months. I ended up going with an on-ear model -- my ears are just not right for in-ear buds. I had a minor, bad start with Klipsch customer service, and they have more than proved my first impression wrong. Great customer service and I will always look for opportunities to recommend them to friends and acquaintances! Bottom line: thank you Vlad, and Klipsch!
