  1. They just moved further north! I met my dad(Marvel) down in Murphy NC yesterday and picked up his LS. The nonprofit agency I work for was donating some servers and desktops to his work so we had this totally unsuspicious equipment swap in the parking lot after lunch. It was great to hang out and catch up over lunch before heading back up the Nantahala gorge towards home. The LS are settling into their new home. last night we managed to get them hooked up and listened to some music on YouTube before heading to bed. This morning when I woke up the two younger boys were playing Minecraft and it sounded great. The 8 year-old wanted to be included for scale. “I could almost live inside these” I’m looking forward to really running these through their paces over the coming weeks. Already, I can tell they are a bit more effortless than my H1’s that they are displacing. A huge thanks to Marvel for passing these down to me and the kids. Cheers, Josh

  2. My wife and son after Friday night's game. He is a Senior and the season has ended closing the book on a game he has loved for many years. He was 4 year Varsity starter on both sides of the ball.

  3. well, not quite... but moved out of the way. They are going to older son on Friday, so the Heresy IIs are in their place with the MWMs as place holders until I get some cables wired up and the digital crossover wired up. The HIIs sound amazingly good for their size.

  4. Well it must be the rain front coming in but I just went an ENTIERLY different direction tonight. Wanted to see what this sub would really sound like movin some air. Yea, ok but what to play. Start w/A in the cabinet and make it allll the way to B and here it is... (You post this lp a week or so George?) If not I got lucky with some Eric Burdon Declaring War.. Eric Burdon Declares "War" is the first of two original albums by funk band Eric Burdon and War, released on MGM Records in April 1970. It peaked at number 18 on record charts in the USA, number 50 in the UK, and number 7 in Australia.[citation needed] The back cover includes this declaration: "We the People, have declared War against the People, for the right to love each other". The album received a gold record award. NOW see what happened???? Dunno how many are in that box yet but I'm already starting to think about what to have for breakfast! Yup, It's goin DOWN! 😂 The sound? SSSSSCCCCHHHHIIIITTTTTT!

  8. I was very interested in the Jubilees and heard about their existence through this forum where I have been a member since 2006. First I posted about the restoration of my Klipsch Lascala at that time. The focus was on the optics, wood preparation, etc.. At some point I asked in a post how to buy a Jubilee. Someone very nice answered me and gave me the tip to write an email to Roy Delgado. I got his email address via PM. That was in summer of 2008. I hope I am allowed to write this after 13 years. I thought oh, this is a very direct line and I was too shy. But I took heart and I wrote the email though days later. All stars must have been in a very favorable constellation. After 15 minutes! I got an answer from Roy and everything else is history. I still have this mail today and keep it like a precious letter. The Jubilees came via the European headquarters of Klipsch. This minimized all customs and freight costs. So it was a straight purchase and I was stunned. Part of the lucky constellation of stars is that I bought at the time the Euro was at its all time high...$1.60 for 1€. All this together meant that it was (of course) not a small sum but not an arm and a leg. To be honest a new Klipschorn would have cost comparably much in the store in Germany at that time considering the "normal" way via all dealers and intermediate stations. And one can also assume because the Jubilee is an underground speaker no dealer cared as the Jubilee did not exist in Germany. No dealer could have officially said anything about the Jubilee. So one can say that my little story is about an underground deal of an underground speaker, so to speak. During this time I was suggested by an extremely friendly and cordial Klipsch forum member to join a small Jubilee group to exchange ideas. Based on this in 2009 I also came to Hope to participate in a class with Roy. It is one of the most positive stories of my hifi life and life in general. That is why I am so grateful to the nice small group of people involved in this story until my last day, and of course Roy first and foremost.

  10. Well Dave ..I spun these in the last few sessions btw..they all got the typical analog studio-master- sound of the 1970´tees, not like any new remastered vinyl from our days , but still very very good ...but i must confess ..the first two pics I spun with the Audio Technica SL 20A , the last one with my NoS Nagaoka Moving Iron Os 300 which is brand new, think it´s time for a new needle on the AT20SLA ..

  14. Well, I got the R-610Fs in a few days ago, and have listened to them a fair amount. It's been decades since I sat and listened to a really good pair of speakers. (I have some Bose 2.2s hooked up to my computer, but describing those as "really good" is pushing it). These did not overwhelm me at first, but the more I listened, the more I liked them. I think the best descriptive word for the sound would be "uncolored", as in, they seem to do a good job of reproducing the source material without adding or subtracting, which I think is the main goal of a good set of speakers. I've read that Klipsch speakers tend to be harsh on the high-end. Nothing of the sort here - I actually had to crank the Treble up to about 4 o'clock to get to where it sounded good to me. I do have significant hearing loss in my left ear, but my right ear is still pretty good, so I use it to judge more then the left. My wife didn't say anything about it sounding too harsh or too much on the high-end, either. Bass is surprisingly good, I run the Bass between 12-o'clock and 1-o'clock, and the Mids between 11-o'clock and 12-o'clock. The room I have them in is very live, with hardwood floors and very little furniture, so I'm sure those settings will change as we get things filled-out. Closing my eyes and listening intently, I can pick out all the individual instruments easily (even noticed a note or two I hadn't before), which I think is a good test - I've noticed that cheap speakers tend to mush things together. Efficiency is great, as-expected. I run the volume between 9-o'clock and 10-o'clock. At 10-o'clock my wife complains that I have it too loud. I will keep these. I consider them an excellent deal for the price. My wife also is suitably impressed. I may yet go check out some other speakers eventually, just to see how they compare, but I don't know that spending 2-4 times as much is going to give enough bang to justify the bucks.

  22. A few years ago there were some Klipsch drones made that were approved for the Forte II. However they were the new style with the rubber surround and not the cloth accordion surround. I ordered one and was a bit dismayed to see this as I had no idea they were built with that rubber stuff. It really did not look right with the old accordion surround and I never ordered another one since then. I have no idea if they are still available though. Simply Speakers makes a passive recone kit which is not to hard to do. Just make sure you take the weight out of the old drone and put it in the new one. My problem with reconing anymore is trusting sellers to actually have the correct material on hand to truly duplicate OEM specs.

  23. I don't see any world where you'll be happy doing what you propose. If you're building a dedicated theater room, you already have the beginnings of an awesome system in your RF/RS/RC combo. Build on that. Nothing in-wall or in-ceiling will come close to them. The CDT-5800 is a fantastic Atmos speaker, though.

  24. Thanks for that heads up George. I've got all the Burdon stuff too and he's always been great. Just nice having the new stuff too. Nice being able to jump back and forth between the old and new remasters. Was thinking you pulled something off just couldn't remember. Thanks. Nice jazz find Paul. Has to sound great w/all those guys contributing. Ritenour is fantastic live. Caught him a couple times and he's soooo clean and smooth. Good stuff.

  26. I'm not sure I've ever heard a Klipsch speaker I did not like-- obviously I like certain models over others but it seems I'm always fairly impressed with even the smaller or "lower end" models for their respective size and price point, KG & Tangent lines comes to mind.

  28. The selenium drivers do need more attenuation. Not a problem for diy'ers but I do understand for those not electronically inclined where the APT-150 would be a good choice. As I stated good sounding drivers as well. Absolutely nothing wrong with them but there are better ones out there and some are direct replacements for the fragile K-77.

  30. I didn't attend either school so in a sense, "I don't care". That said, I am from Ohio.... so I'm excited to watch the game. I don't know who can beat Ohio State but I hope they meet in the championship as it might be a terribly exciting game (meant in a good way that keeps you on edge of seat) I don't really "love" watching blowout games. Yeah, they can be fun, "in your face" kind of things, but there's no tension. I'd rather see someone have a lead, other team come back to tie it and they battle it to the end. (then of course, Ohio State does a pick-6 to win) It will be interesting to watch some of these players as they turn pro. I was impressed with some of the records that were/are being set/broken. I think I read that OSU's quarterback Stroud had more touchdown passes in the first half.....(six) than any other quarterback had.....for the entire game. (or something close to that) They're certainly fun to watch, unless you are a fan of the other team I suppose.

  31. The Selenium drivers have more output. The Eminence drivers are the original ones made in Poland, which Bob C. said were smoother than the Eminence made drivers. I like them much better than the K-77, but part of that is probably due to the horn on the Eminence.

  32. I'm going to ask Travis (or another mod) to create a new thread and move all this extra stuff from here. I'll just say -- I love La Scalas. They've worked great in any room I've placed them (both pair). I didn't get rid of them because they didn't work in the spaces... it was financial or needed the room.

Even so, either Texas ain't great at math or turkeys were apparently free last year: From the Waco Tribune - Herald "Specifically talking turkey, the Texas Farm Bureau said the typical 16-pound bird fetches $23.99 this year, about $1.50 more per pound than last year." https://wacotrib.com/news/local/surprise-a-texas-thanksgiving-meal-costs-more-this-year/article_9029e7b0-49c1-11ec-a826-ff217d9fff1f.html

  42. My LS are very lovely sounding, but I used a 3rd party crossover design and pulled the mids down some. The tweeters are Eminence APT50s on an Eminence 150 horn, mounted on baffles placed on the tops so they could be moved to the backs so they could be time aligned. Very nice at any volume.

  48. I had no idea it was rated well. Also on the list of things I have no idea about is the Blue Plate we use, it is called heavy duty and does not need to be refrierated after opening. I have no idea why it is heavy duty or the refrigerated part. I do know one thing NEVER leave a real Silver spoon by accident in a mayo jar. It will be green in a couple days, chemical reaction or magic who knows ? .
