  2. Been a minute for this one. Actually, about an hour. πŸ˜‚ Smokin' O.P.'s is the fifth studio album by American rock singer-songwriter Bob Seger, released in 1972 (see 1972 in music). The album was reissued on CD by Capitol Records in 2005. It is currently the earliest Bob Seger album available on CD. The cover art is a parody of the Lucky Strike cigarette logo. Smokin' O.P.'s refers to Smokin' Other People's Songs, a derivation on the slang phrase "Smoking O.P.'s" meaning to smoke other people's cigarettes exclusively (never purchasing your own for consumption). Most of the tracks on this release are covers of songs written by other artists. Gonna have to run this thru the VPI. It's filthy! Yuk! Oh well, just another pile. πŸ˜‚

  9. Edit : November 14th: The subwoofer is now sold Edit Oct 15th: It turns out this still available. In order for a quick sale it is now discounted to $60. Ignore the other prices listed below. ------------------- Is it time to build a subwoofer cabinet? Of course it is !! This is a lightly used 15 inch Dayton Audio sub woofer. (driver only, no cabinet). It can be used in a 3 cu ft box for a F3 of about 37Hz (sealed cabinet) or in a 9 cu ft box for a F3 of 21Hz (vented box). These sell at Parts Express for about $250, I will sell it for $125 (a 50% discount). https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/126/rss390hf-4-15-reference-hf-subwoofer-4-ohm If you want to get lazy, and we all do sometimes, Parts Express also sells a box made specifically made for this woofer (includes the baffle cutout for the driver). It is currently packaged in a cardboard carton that is 18 x 18 x 12 and weighs 36lb. I checked USPS and UPS and the cost is prohibitive, so this is pick up only. As of 10/27/23 ................. I may change my mind on this and be willing to ship. My zip is 06365-8617. I'll let you figure out the cost. Keep in mind that UPS always figures out a way to increase the cost a bit when you actually take it to the UPS store. I am located in SE Connecticut (06365). (2 hours from Boston or NYC and 1 hour from Hartford CT, Providence RI, or New Haven CT). They are not currently in a cabinet, but i'm happy to run a test tone through the unit when you pick them up to verify that it works and there are no rattles. Thanks for looking, -Tom

  11. Then this surfacedl 25th Anni Edition is anywhere from 45-200$ new on Amazon. lol Glad I got mine a month or so ago. It's just soooo darn good! AllMusic critic Mark Deming wrote: "While King of California was often lumped in with the then-fashionable unplugged craze, in retrospect it was the album where Dave Alvin's abilities as a performer began to catch up with his gifts as a songwriter, pointing the way for his later albums Blackjack David and Public Domain."[1] Double gatefold and both lp's are killer!

  34. Agreed but the line blurs when delineating between official and "unofficial." Only true (official) state censorship is guaranteed to be protected against by the constitution. Nothing good follows censorship, yet corporations and businesses as private entities have been granted unlimited censorship regarding its employees and their conditions of employment. Concurrently, the same private entities are also allowed to censor anything that is attached to their property (see Klipsch Forum and moderation policy). But you have experience with that as I recall.

  40. Back in the early 80's I took my cousin, who was shopping for a system. with me to a shop. I don't know what I needed but it wasn't much. Maybe album sleeves or something. I saw him talkin to some guy and figured he was pickin the guy's brain. I had the big Marantz receiver, a Dual 1229 w/a Shure V-15 on it running into a pair of ESS AMT-1. He'd heard it and liked it but man was i suprised. I paid for my stuff and he was still talkin. The dude went somewhere to do something so I asked if he was just about ready to go. He said no he just bought a pair of 901's, the Bose amp and was waiting on the dude to get some other dude cause he was payin cash for it all. I flipped out. Yup, he did and loaded it up in the car to bring it home. Soooo they sent him home w/no speaker wire. There it sat w/no wire. I let it sit there and came home. He called a week later and wanted me to hear it. Sad. ALL that money for nuttin. He's still got those things hangin and is still playin em. He said they're fine and his wife loves 'em. Yup, I'm shakin my head just like you are. Then about 5 years ago Steve Ferrone show'd up @ Sweetwater in FT. Wayne, IN. It'd been a couple years since we'd talked so I slipped out to shoot the crap. Then another friend Justin Johnson (the guy who plays the spade shovel guitar) was gonna be reppin for someone. Killed two birds w/one stone. Perfect! Headed outside and there was a big Bose tent w/people going in and out so I figured I'd go in for a laff. Two guys stopped me at the door of the tent and told me I wasn't allowed to come in. I said wtf, WHY is that? One guy pointed to my 75th Anniversary Klipsch hat and said "that's a no no." I laffed in their faces and said it's a shame you're reppin bullshit and walked away. Not a word outta 'em. rofl

  45. Honestly, I think they're hideous. Playing anything through them other than video games would seem utterly incongruous. Hard to imagine listening to Dylan, Nina Simone, Vivaldi, or even Black Sabbath through them. But Donkey Kong, or Mario? ..Ok, that works. Klipsch is a great brand... I hope they know what they're doing. These things look like PA speakers at the Bumper Car rink at an amusement park. They don't want to engage in a special edition co-branding project that attracts a few dozen F1 fans while at the same time turns a few thousand people off the brand. I love Klipsch so I really hope I'm wrong.
