I'm humbled... I brought my €260 Denon micro system downstairs and hooked it up to my 1972 Heresies. Thought my €3,000 Leben CS300 tube amp would be the easy winner of this 'battle', but the Denon holds firm ground! The Denon's 40 wpc made my son come downstairs to turn down the volume. It wasn't even half open. He said his bed was shaking!!!! 😂😂😂 Of course, the Heresies are the shining stars here! PS The Denon is soooo much better than my similarly priced Marantz PM5005 entry level amplifier. So now, let's spin some vinyl!5 points

Holy guacamole! Heard the mailman throw down a box on the porch yesterday. Checked on it last night and this box was huge. Yup, the $150 BBA box set had arrived. The box set was in a box INSIDE of an outer box and it must weigh 10#. lol Just unzipped the box and figured it was time for a tease. FINALLY a box set that's worth the money. Two double gatefolds of each show, a very nice bound book w/tons of info, a poster and an unbound book full of pics and more info. Gonna throw 'em down in a bit but I'm salivating. Here we go and I'm gonna savor the moment! Two killer shows! Better jump cause the price is gonna go up. Gonna grab a second one and just leave it sealed. Beans & weiners for another month! 😂💪4 points

Just listen to them for awhile before you do anything. Stock La Scala’s sound great.4 points

Thanks for the update @MicroMara. Sad for everyone involved and I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. You're a good man and when good men disappear I kind of wonder why. Not such a great thing to hear but it's life today. God's speed brother and know you're family in here will miss you. Stay safe!3 points

You're just getting your toesies wet brother. No piles, temporary books and a load on the way. As PWK would say "Bullshit." Remember I'm the one that's gonna out live Keef. You're sooooo screwed! Better get started on that next set of shelves.3 points

We'll bump it to another page soon. Mine was okay, pretty low key.. A few couldn't remember me at all, but one certainly remembered me playing guitar. It was still nice to see the old home town, thoigh.2 points

ALL I can say is holy sheet this is the TOTAL package! On side 1 of the Japan tour starts off w/"Superstition" and just keeps rollin. Freaking great already and Beck's' slayin it. Haven't jumped into who's doing what yet but I'm sittin here shaking my head. Soooo darn clean and tight, amazing soundstage and runnin 70-80db's consistantly. Amazeballs at just how perfectly this has been done. Crazy good. Double thumbs up for sure so ya better jump all over it. Now Beck's just runnin those high notes slayin it. Yea, it's perfection and time to flip to side 2. MORE goodness! I'm done & you better get huntin if you haven't ordered it. Thank me later! F it forget the weiners buy 2 and be done w/it! It just doesn't stop! When they're gone they're gone! Forget the weiners!2 points

You are veering off the subject. It's not the plywood bass bins without the tops that have tighter, deeper sounding bass. It's the new ones that have one inch MDF. BINGO2 points

My first contribution. I think? I use this thread from time to time. It got me on a tangent and I really liked this one.2 points

No Sir, no piles for me! 😄 What I do know: The books above my LPs are definitely temporary. Got a load of new and used LPs on the way. 😂2 points

Ah yes! Alternative facts. I have heard that somewhere, I believe it was coined by an inveterate liar. Because, right wait, I remember another saying that the truth isn't the truth. Relativism at its logical extreme leads the ignorant down the path of total confusion resulting in the complete maleability of their minds. Critical thinking is the first casualty, and studies have shown that one cannot change others opinions through the exposition of facts. We are living Orwell's nightmare of mind control through the bastardization of language.2 points

I have 8000fs now. Big jump to Cornwalls. I have a Rega p8 turntable and ART9xi cartridge, with a 1978 Pioneer SX1280 receiver.2 points

I did a year ago. Then I second guessed myself and ordered som JBL L100 classics to compare. While they were no slouch, the Cornwalls ultimately stayed due to their superior instrument separation, decay and bigger, more open natural sound. Plus I preferred the looks of the Cornwalls in my living room.2 points

Cleaning up my 88 oiled walnut Khorns with ALK universals for sale. Thinking about an area sale where I would help transport if needed within 100 miles of Boston. Here are some initial pics of one speaker. Looking at listings and recent sales but prices are all over the map. Was there a member who kept a database of used sale prices?1 point

First post, new here Second owner. These have been sitting in an unoccupied house since mid 1980. All were face down when stored. Brought them home, tested and then cleaned them up. Transported by trailer to a party spot and rocked the shoreline at the lake all day (Great Day For Sure). They absolutley are the real deal. Almost 100 percent sure that everything is original with no mods. I made the logo plates on front of bass bins and added the casters. Was limited on pics here so just two at this point ( I have more). One of speaks and one on lake day. I really want to keep but no room in 2 car garage lol. Was really hoping that they would go to a old school band or some venue that would keep them alive for what they are. $4500 obo Located Central Coast of California 805-712-2917 Text (Ray) Not posted anywhere else at this point, wanted to keep in the Klipsch family......1 point

Marine grade plywood is pretty good quality plywood for a speaker. I didn’t know they were made with it.1 point

post 1980 LSI speakers were made with marine plywood regardless of fibreglass , trim , 1 piece cabs or splits ,1 point

Interesting conversation. The 2 points that jump out at me regarding censorship involved (1) trying to shut down claims made that injecting or drinking some kind of bleach (or pool cleanser, or something - I forget) protected people from Coronavirus, and (2) trying to hush critics of the vaccine because the vaccine program was too important to allow anyone to create skepticism and fear. This thread might not last long, but IMO, our comments aren't really all that controversial. These points are long outdated, and I don't think people really care that much anymore.1 point

Keep in mind they need some break in time first. They can sound thin in the beginning. After that they are amazing speakers.1 point

I believe that this is entirely a function of the channel gains, delays, and PEQs that you've set in the 4x10 HD. If you want to match the exact presentation of the passive crossovers, that's very doable. Just measure the SPL and phase response of the loudspeakers with passives, then transfer that response to the DSP crossover. Voila! An exact match. Chris1 point

I use an old foam rubber mattress topper, but anything that's relatively thick will do--such as several thick blankets laid out horizontally between the microphone and loudspeaker under measurement. Yes. It works just the same as passive in terms of phase growth--unless you're using FIR filtering, in which case you can control both amplitude and phase vs. frequency, but typically at a greater required level of computing capability (especially at lower frequencies). That's a great idea. I think it will be a pretty big revelation/eye-opener. I know that I was ready to sell a pair of Belles, one of which I was using between Jubilees, and until I tri-amped and flattened the SPL response, I didn't think it was going to work at all. Short story: it did work... Chris1 point

Here's an example of using excess group delay to find the needed channel delay adjustments: Sometimes as you get very close to the correct delays, you'll find that inverting the polarity of either the higher frequency or lower frequency driver channel will bring the two channels closer together in terms of excess phase or group delay (i.e., the first derivative of the phase curve).
