  7. Well, it’s been about three months and I thought it was about time I share a small review after giving a lot of hours listening to the 396s…I really believe that sound is a muscle memory and anything different can seem better, worse, or just different. So I believe it needs time to give a good true impression… First things first the 396s are just fantastic speakers.…. They are definitely right there with the KPT904s… especially in the voice (wow just wow)… I know a lot of you that have time with the 510 or better (402) know what I’m talking about…. the 510 is so much better than other commercial speaker drivers I’ve heard... It’s really hilarious.. I have owned so many speakers, and they just wipe the floor with them. So I have been pushing them mostly with just normal listening level music, movies, tv, and even a lot of basic podcasts….I work remote, and spend most of my time in the room they are sitting in (these speakers do not collect dust). I have also opened them way up with music, and movies as well and they sound amazing on everything…I have said this in other posts (and forums), but it’s worth repeating…the VOICE … right away you hear it. It’s so big compared to other speakers… for example I would go to the movie theatre, and I would hear that giant voice. That was the one thing in the home that I missed… I could replicate the bass…I could replicate the surround-sound, but the voice was always smaller. Only the 904s, and the 396s (510s) match that in the speakers that I have owned. For as good as La Scala sound, they don’t have that, the RF7s they don’t have that, the Cornwalls they don’t have that etc. etc. Spending $3500 on a pair of speakers Is a ton of money, especially when I think back to what I would spend 20 years ago….I can’t necessarily say that they’re better than a $1000 pair of speakers when you’re talking bang for buck (everyone’s ears, and wallets are different). But as I sit here today writing this review I couldn’t be happier….. Well done Klipsch.

  8. Bad idea. Wrong network for the drivers he is using. You have been told this at least a half dozen times. Also, JEM “has no missing parts”, only I do. I think I am done with this nonsense along with everything else that has come with it. @Chief bonehead Please remove me as a Klipsch Authorized builder.

  10. I'm learning about all of those loose ends not finished up lately. First coat, most of the caulking, second on all the ceilings, not the walls yet. Plaster patch... not yet, sheetrock? ✔️ backer rod, tomorrow. 17 bushels of limbs, boughs and stick piled up in one spot? "Yea Right" Got the Gutter Guards cleaned off, literally mopped the windows this morning so I could see out for the first time in four days. To the dump... tomorrow! Cleaned the BR, will buy CLR? Tomorrow? It's official. I'm a slacker, she's a slacker, he's a slacker, Wouldn't you like to be a slacker too!

  16. Yeah, he has edited his post, at least once. You have been on this forum for 24 years. You've been a lot of help to many people who needed it, both in the technical field and a lot of comic relief. I sure hate that it came to this, especially since it was avoidable.

  17. Skip the 3 and go straight to the Chorus IV.

  18. I know I've wanted to see (along with many others) a new Chorus model for a long time now but these new forte's seem to combine the best attributes of the older Chorus / forte line. To me, the forte II was a little dark with recessed mids, bass was lower and more present at lower volume but a little boomy as compared to the Chorus II. These new forte's have a very balanced sound top to bottom, very smooth with lots of very tight bass. I think the Chief did these guys right, about the only thing that could be gained by a larger 15" version would be higher output? Maybe a little larger voicing with the bigger mid horn and woofer? I believe the forte IV does this line justice the Chief really did do a fantastic job with these.

  21. This wraps up this post....because a brand new pair of Heresy IV's in Walnut (with the Lambswool fabric) are making their way to my home as we speak. I might have them as soon as tomorrow, or possibly Sunday if UPS delivers. PLEASE ACCEPT MY HUGE THANK YOU for your support and great points I had not considered. They made it easy for me to pull the trigger. AND THE PICTURES!!! VERY NICE. Some fantastic room setups (and gear). Now, that might take me a little longer to ever reach that level of perfection. But don't you know I am going to try! 🙂 Thanks again. I really mean it. Rob

  22. You did nothing wrong. There has been a troll who has crapped in countless threads and it had been tiresome for WAY too long. There is a little more to the story, but you had nothing to do with any of it. I sent you a PM earlier. Did you see it?

  26. Been listening to these things as much as possible and they are breaking in quite nicely. I can say the Chief hit this one out of the park they are filling out to a much bigger and deeper sound and bass is getting crazy good. The slight brightness has gone away- very smooth and detailed and did I mention the bass? I'm not sure I'd have this much improvement in the bass with an added subwoofer they will knock things down in my room. The bass reminds me a lot of the Chorus II bass but tighter and cleaner while still having that enveloping sensation.

  27. Mornin' all I guess I'm gonna make a public appearance. Purely coincidental ... but, ya know how that happens. "Arivaca Days" is upon us. People come from around, to see us being normal.... and it just happens that I am out of coffee beans. So, I need to go to the store....

  35. For me deciding on Chorus II and Belles as my speakers over 20 years ago was easy. DACs, power filter, phono cartridges and amplification are a more challenging investigation. I spent a weekend listening to RF-7 at the Audio Karma show in Detroit 20 years ago. Analogy...... a different flavor of ice cream from a great dairy.

  36. @Cal Blacksmithif the drivers are still good you could sell to offset the cost of something else. I see Klipsch from time to time up that way. I’d just be patient. Good luck! And if notice any down this way I’ll let ya know.

  39. You need your own experience(s). Where are you? So that you can start hearing them for yourself, you might go listen to speakers that are for sale. I wouldn't buy because of those listening sessions alone, there is a little more to learn, but it will get you started. It's a journey, not a destination.

  40. So, you want to buy a Klipsch speaker, but you can't listen to them, and based on our input, you make your choice blindly with the speaker selection? Bold move. Perhaps it's a better idea to provide a list of your preferences so that you can receive more targeted advice. Still, with so many members, there are numerous opinions. Factors influencing the speaker choice could include: - Use for music only or also for movies - Preferred genre of music - Amplifier choice and whether considering alternative amplifiers - Size of the room they will be placed in - Emphasis on bass, a strong live experience, analytical sound, etc. - Budget - is visual aesthetics playing a significant role?

  41. With respect to Klipsch speakers in particular, it's not simply that a speaker is 2-way or 3-way. In my opinion what sets Heritage and the other 3-way Klipsch (like the 3-way Legend series and the Palladium series) apart from the 2-way Klipsch consumer lines is that more of the frequency range is covered by horn-loaded drivers. In the Klipsch consumer lines of speakers, most of the 2-way speakers hand off from horns to cones in the range of 1200 Hz to as high as 2500 Hz. In contrast, the consumer line 3-way speakers (that are not fully horn-loaded) transition from horns to cones in a range of like 500 Hz to 850 Hz. This means that the consumer 3-way and fully horn-loaded speakers will have less distortion and better coverage control in the critical lower and middle region of the mid-range frequencies where the bulk of the musical and vocal action is. To my ears the 3-way Klipsch consumer speakers and the fully-horn-loaded ones (whether 3-way or 2-way like the Jubilee) sound more effortless, cleaner, less veiled, and more accurate in the mid-range. I call it the Klipsch "mid-range magic". The difference in the bass response is mainly due to the RF-7 III having a much larger cabinet volume. The larger 3-way Klipsch speakers can go lower than the Heresy as well. The Forte IV might be closer to the "equivalent" of the RF-7 III in the Heritage line.

  43. Well spoken Neil. Can't speak for all, but I know many that were here (and maybe still are lurking now and again) share your thoughts, myself included. I have purchased well over 15 new pairs of Klipsch speakers over the years and have been recommending them for years. That has stopped. Made plenty of friends on here and learned plenty as well. RIP the forum prior.

  45. Well all arrows point to my KSW 12 being dead or too expensive to repair. All in all I still am a Klipsch fan and support the product, I have to the rest of my surround system is Klipsch. Anyways how would the Klipsch RW10D fair as a replacement for my KSW 12? On paper it looks to be even more powerful than the 12" woofer..... any comments?

  46. I'm going through and trying to upgrade my old system, SB-2s, SC-1, SS-.5s, and a KSW-12 to a better Refrence based system. I got a deal on a set of RB-51s for 150 bucks and I just won a RC-62 for 240 last night off ebay. I plan on replacing the SB-2s with the RB-51s and replaceing the old Synergy SC-1 with the RC-62, will this be an okay match with the bigger center? This set up will be for 80% movie/TV watching and 20% music. Also what rear surrounds would you recommend from the Refrence line? Thanks

  47. Hello every body, Few words about the "DENON DVD 2200" from a frenchy guy. I just buy the "Denon 2200" one month ago. It's my first DVD player, and the sound is so good that the next day i put my CD player "Rega planet 2000" on Ebay...With my "Cornwalls I", the sound is more full body and coherent that you feel like the music is in your room. When i bought it, i just hope it would be as good as my "Rega", but no, it was better... this player surprise me Compare to my "Rega planet 2000" the sound is more: 3D imaging Full (in the high, medium and low) pure coherent What i don't like: The highs seem to cut off a little bit, but i don't care because it sound so right for me... I can't say a lot about the "PQ" because i can't use the "RVB and Componement" out, just Svideo, but what i can say is that on my TV Philips 32" the picture is very pure, colours are rich, with a lot of details, but not exagerated and that's why people say the picture of the "Denon's" are film like... In one word: it's one of my very best purchase... Regards, Fred, My systeme: Denon DVD 2200 Denon PMA 2000 (an integrated SS amp that completly compete with my Eico HF-81?!) H/K 430 receiver (for 90, it's an extraordinary integrated/tuner!) LP Rega planar 3 with a Denon DL-103(not completely happy for what i expected from vinyl...is it my cartbridge or my phono input in the Denon PMA 2000 that is wrong? i don't know...)
