  4. The general recommended speed limit in germany in the cities is 31 mph, outside from cities and country roads is 50 mph, on highways 75 mph and the general speed recommondation on the autobahn is 80 mph , but 1/3 of our autobahns are free from any speed limit , so there the porsches , bmw´s , mercedes, or whatever can speed up to max . 160 mph .

  5. For practical reasons - and please note that every cartridge sounds different from another. So finding the one that suits one’s system one’s ears and music genre is part of that journey Now for practical reasons It can take a while to set up a new cartridge or to swap over from MM to MC ect So it’s prudent to use and pre set an MM on one tonearm and an MC on the other, giving one more time to enjoy music

  9. Every Hertiage speaker model except the Heresy (which has about the same) and the La Scala has deeper bass extension than the Three. What you are perceiving as "more" bass is likely the orders of magnitude more bass distortion that the Three will produce over any Heritage speaker at the same volume. The reason that the La Scala cannot go very deep is because it has a folded horn bass section, and the cutoff frequency of a horn is related to the size of the horn and its flare rate. The La Scala is a compromise between the ultra-low bass distortion of horn-loaded bass and the size of the cabinet. If Klipsch were to design a new bass horn for this speaker, say using the same horn-loaded vented system used in the Jubilee and the upcoming Klipsch horn subs, then it really wouldn't be the La Scala anymore but a new model. Also, while the MF and HF are highly regarded, there are improvement that can be made. Roy will reveal what those are during the class during the PWK Birthday Bash.

  11. I enjoy the sound of my system much more with the REL sub than my older HSU sub. The high level input on the REL integrates the sub seamlessly with my Fortes so I find the difference better to my ears very enjoyable.

  12. our interstates are 75mph outside cities... and they [generally] give 10 mph over before creative driving awards get issued.

  13. The Atlanta perimeter has folks driving 85mph+ (136km/h+). That's way over the posted speed limit.

  14. I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix is kinda like that. 75mph is the speed limit, but, seeing folks driving 100mph+ isn't uncommon the roads I drive... 20 mph turns. Winding roads. There is a stretch of state highway. That road is straight ... but, you have to dodge potholes. 65 is too fast for it

  15. very tactful .... ------------------------ I drive with a light foot. According to the computer in the car ... average speed 32mph fuel mileage 51mpg+ that's putting down these country roads at 35 -55mph The car doesn't stop rolling and I hardly use the brakes. Oh... the other, on my way to pick up the wife from work, I noticed a motorcycle parked beside the road, on a bad turn. Looked closer ... there was another motorcycle in the brush. So, I stop to see if I can help. I wasn't really dressed for bucking brush, but, I went into the catclaw. Of course, it HAD to be a Harley. It was laying on the shifter and to stand it up, meant leaning it deeper into the brush. The riders made me feel young .... I haven't looked in the mirror lately, but, they gave me the impression of pushing 80. Got him up and going with nothing more than a bruised ego.

  18. Hi Billybob!! Long time no talk to. I have missed my friends here on the forum. Been tying up all my time with other hobbies and not getting back to my first love - audio gear! I'll grab some pics tonight when I get home. My garage is getting too hard to work in, so I plan to thin the herd a bit. I have an Adcom preamp, amp, and 5 disk CD that may go if I make a deal for a Yamaha M series stack (C-70, M-70 etc) I have been thinking about buying. There is also a Parasound 200 watt amp, and a 60 watt Rotel integrated amp (with remote) that I may find a new home for as well. More on that later.... Take care my friend, JonB

  19. Sent the youngest daughter the majority of my old Domke bag full of Nikon gear before Xmas. She's doing pretty well in Scottsdale and is just like I was. Always on the move just doing more constructive things. lol I raped and pillaged where as, she's just rapin wallets in the business world. 😂 I'll give ya a lil heads up. Keep and eye on Taylor Swift's head @ the Super Bowl. Either her or Andy Reid since it's his last game. I'm guessin! Don't say it. 4 years in a row w/Album of the Year??? 51B$ world tour? Flying in for the game from Japan then right out to Austrailia? ANYthing she wants... Might be for her tour too. I dunno but it's insane. I've been trying to teach her how to shoot via text msgs and p;ointing her in the direction of a great photog in Phoenix I know. Hours on end texting and trying to guide her. Drives me insane since I haven't touched my gear in 20 years. lol Couple F4's and an F5 with the manual fast lenses 28, 35, 50, 135 and 180. She's been sharing some so thought I'd dump some of hers. She's been working the Waste Management PGA tour stop in Phoenix for about 5 years. Good ole #7 the local party hole. Last week she got this one and was totally clueless. About Wednesday she's gonna get a chunk of glass she's not expecting. Sending her my 400 2.8 for the golf tourney. Will keep her out of trouble w/the boys teeing off. They won't hear a thing. She was in San Diego and sent me this w/the 28mm 2.8 so asked why didn't she go in and shoot up too? lol Never thought of it she said. ha! Then it was coffee & cars one Saturday morning in Scottsdale somewhere.

  21. Yeah. Maybe why I got them at $200. But I was honest with him. I asked the seller if they said AL-3 and he said they did. Dean also confirmed before I bought them.

  22. I have 2. Both are spring terminal versions. One has a new diaphragm, but still has a rub. The tech didn't do it well. The other is fine.

  23. Mark, That is pretty strange since the seller has a lot of feedback and 100% positive. Did you mention you are Mark Deneen? I have a question what is the signature on the upper right side of the face plate? At least it looks like a signature. Craig

  24. Yes, the "hot" lp has RL on side one as well. The other LZii has an etch that I mistook for an RL.

  27. I told my wife it's not a race. She had never driven until she was 49, when she first arrived in the States. She's been in two accidents, neither of which was her fault. She's still learning, I'm still learning. I've told her I am not pointing out things to criticize, but to make her driving safer.

  28. I went by the (STA 69 1672 PR) number on the lower part of the label and cross referenced with the photo But you are correct that the inscription on the dead wax is the most accurate way to find the exact pressing

  35. 1740 & 1742 are both bolt on, you'd need 1-3/8"-18??? In any case, I forgot to mention the K702 driver out of my H4 measure 8ohm and is physically identical to the 1748's I also have lying around... though it does look like newer 1748's have changed the cover molding and maybe aren't serialized any more? I don't know, the ones I have are old(er) stock, maybe just try a CDV1-1757 if you can find one?
    1 point
  36. If you are trying to retrofit an older model, you essentially want a CDX1-1748 with 16ohm diaphragm (you'll have to buy it separately) You can look at the spec sheet for the CDV1-1757 to get an idea of the specs.

  37. Hey a bit tongue in cheek but it is my home (shop) theater. Speakers change often sometimes and right now here is today's speaker line. Then we have theater seating And finally the control and command center.

  38. Powered my Khorns for years with a 1.5Mt along with the C-1 preamp. The sonic hologram back in the day was pretty cool. I agree with previous posts. There was always a predominant hiss coming from the speakers which was annoying. There is tons of power however. Going to a simple DIY 2A3 PP 12WPC amp enlightened me to how quiet the Khorns are with a nice driving signal not to mention the soundstage. You could run thesw e with a 9V battery. I didn't like the hiss and a harsh mid to high response that Carver and Klipsch seemed to produce.

  40. I Hate, Hate to do it, but need to sell these since the new HT arrangement / available walls with windows in the way won't let me keep these any longer. Will have to use my Forte's as mains. 1989-90 KHorns, walnut finish, virtually new condition, no marks on the cabinetry. All these have been powered by have been a Carver M1.5 or a home brew 2A3 PP. MIT cables have been the connections of choice. Chicago area. Thought I'd mention this first here prior to E-bay. Any interest?

  41. NOS -- You've been sniffing too much NOS!!! Yeah -- that was me. Still listening to it? BTW -- Sold the KHorns here yesterday due to space considerations, will have to live with the Forte's for HT in the basement now. (The 2A3 PP make them sound nice too) Oh well, at least they will be getting a nice home to someone who can appreciate them instead of movin them on E-bay. Good to hear from you again NOS.

  42. Sold to Coyote -- thanks for all the interest and I trust we will be hearing from him here after he has them set up in his home. Boy he is in trouble though. I offered to have him audition them driven direct from my 2A3 PP amp and Denon 2200. His wife will be screaming when we decides to upgrade from SS!!! Just kiddin.............. Brap
