grasshopper
Kinda quiet around here. Glad they still ran the Grand Sumo tournament. Those guys beat the crap out of each other. Their heads and necks take a lickin'. ... I miss the NCAA tourney. Not a big sports fan. I did tend to watch that. That Kona coffee got the better of me. Found myself on the roof cleaning the chimney. Needed it. Wife was asking if the creosote was what causes chimney fires? Yeah, but.... The stove will not draw a draft before it gets that bad. You will smoke yourself out of the house. Now I'm sitting in the doghouse playing some music and trying to get this black crap off my hand. Don't wanna waste my Everclear.

Sure, had one in a metal chimney once, it's something you will not forget sounding like a jet engine. But will say besides sending sparks all over outside the good part is the chimney will be spotless on the inside, even germ free.
grasshopper
It is something I have only ever heard about. I've been plunging chimneys since before I had my own. One of my jobs when I worked at a ranch. Climbing windmills, too. My boss was afraid of heights. It was a casual "job". We built a Model A pick up, and a Model T. Drank coffee in quantities that only @dirtmudd could comprehend. I had no real business working on a ranch. I am not a friend of horses.
Moderators dtel Posted March 16, 2020 Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2020 We don't have a fireplace here but a wood burning heater as our only heat. I had some 6" aluminum pipe 1/4" thick I used as a chimney which will outlast me.I got tired of replacing that thin stuff every year. This was not the place I had the chimney fire although I don't think it would hurt this pipe. You can see the pipe coming out from the wall, the bottom is cemented into the ground, it's solid. I mad a door at the bottom to clean out the build up when it's cleaned, which I need to do after the season. It goes up another 10' after that brace.
