oldtimer
Our president and other world leaders failing to call it what it is strengthens the views of these nut jobs. Being a Muslim himself and sympathizing with their beliefs only endangers the US people further. I am not trying to make this political just stating facts. Wait! I missed this--President Obama is a Christian. You missed the part where he was stating facts....
willland
??? So the rev Wright thing was just being a tourist to a Christian church? From my point of view, not much true Christianity being spewed from "Reverend" Wright's mouth. Bill I have been following Christianity for a while and can tell you they run from extreme fundamentalists to only thinking one needs to be saved...Most fall into the latter category but I still don't understand how one Christian can point to another Christian and claim "they aint Christian." I look at the Book of James in Chapter 1:19 - 27 when I need a dose of reality of what God considers Christian ideals. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=james+1%3A19-27&version=NIV I am not saying whether Rev. Wright is a Christian or not but I can assure you from what I have heard and read he is not preaching, teaching, proclaiming what I know to be the message of Jesus. Wolfbane
Omar Mir Seddique Mateen is the name of the Orlando shooter. The most prolific mass murderer in Canadian history was Marc Lepine, real name Gamil Liass Gharbi, a women hating piece of shit who murdered 14. The MO may be different but the inspiration the same: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_L%C3%A9pine

Bill If we really wanted to get this thread interesting we could speculate about the conversations between James and Paul. {EDIT: My apologize to the OP and will try to stay on topic about the mass shooting--I don't want the thread closed down by going down the path of people's religious views.} Edited June 12, 2016 by Zen Traveler
Paducah Home Theater
I don't want the thread closed down by going down the path of people's religious views. Oh it'll be shut down, just wait. Politics and religion in the same thread = bad mojo.
Zen Traveler
Yep. Guns, politics and religion are dangerous things to mix even on an American Speaker Forum...That said, I just learned the Texas Governor deleted an inappropriate tweet dealing with this incident. Zen Traveler
I also saw on the news that Texas has some Muslims expressing outrage at this latest terrorist attack and are outreaching to the gay community.
gary p
Everyone has the right to their own beliefs. But if you believe that your God wants you to murder innocent people, you worship the devil. And he is laughing at the success he has had in the recent years.

Karsoncookie
I am glad I live in a state where I have the right to protect myself against this madness.Huh? I thought Floridians DID live in a state where people have a "right to protect themselves." they can even stand their ground. What happened? Doesn't this show the utter failure of NRA policy mythology about how having guns protects people? Carry is prohibited in liquor serving establishments in FL, and also I believe other states. LarryC
Carry is prohibited in liquor serving establishments in FL, and also I believe other states. Lars Thank you. It was reported that the shooter didn't have any problem walking into a gun store and buying a high-capacity magazine. That's one thing I'd like to see controlled.

To be a Christian has to do with your thinking and actions, NOT a label anyone can assign for themselves or anybody else Many say they are "Christian, including most white supremacists , KKK, . This includes the "Christian" abortion bomber types. This includes the "Christian" wife abusers using the concept of "head of household". Zen Traveler
???????????? Lars I was wondering why so many men came together to promise they would start treating their family better--The flipside is I wondered what was going through their mind that allowed them to mistreat them in the first place.
