IB Slammin
We will probably hit 115 today. Only 94 here but at 6:41pm the heat index is 106. It's not the heat, it's the humility. tc
Ceptorman
I do love the snow…..ever rode a new snowmobile I spent the weekend at Dale Hollow. It wasn't too bad, it hit 92, but a beverage, the water, or cruising the lake will cool you down.

It's not the heat, it's the humility. tc That's what sucks the energy right outta me is the humidity...... I lived in El Paso for a few years and we had over 100* days there quite often. But since it was desert it wasn't "sticky"......now don't get me wrong oh it was hot...... We had swamp-coolers to cool us...... Here in Md and like most of the eastern southern states we get that "added bonus" with our heat...... Humidity......( Festering Hot Horrible Moist air) and that's what just slows me down.... the wife and I didn't even go out on the deck this weekend..... it was just nasty out there....... I guess were in The Dog Days of Summer MKP :-)

CECAA850
One of my favorite Johnny Carson jokes involved the heat. He said "It's so hot today". The studio audience yells back "How hot was it?" Johnnie replied "I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walking".
DizRotus
Much rather have 98 than 38 anyday.... I disagree, sort of. I could not live in a place that is too hot most of the summer to enjoy outdoor activity. I can dress for 38, or colder, and still enjoy being outdoors. When it's >90 with >90% humidity and you're all but naked, being outside is not an option, even if the neighbors didn't circulate a petition to force me to cover up. babadono
Well it hit 110 on Saturday and cooled down to 105 yesterday. Supposed to only be 95-100 today. No matter I spent the weekend jack hammering and digging trenches for irrigation. I will say this I was fortunate in the fact it was dry (not humid). That makes all the difference to me. The humidity is crazy here. It can rain then be 100 degrees for the next 2 days and there's still water on top of the trash cans.
babadono
Wow that's nuts. Not a complete stranger to hot and humid having grown up in MEEEEEEEEECHegan. And having visited Florida several times. But tell me how did people live before air conditioning? How?
oldtimer
There were a lot fewer of them, and life moved at a slower pace. In other words, back then it was truly the south.
