cincymat
Turntable porn,,,,,, Picked this up today from Craigslist. Seller was a fun guy that had a setup he inherited from his Dad. He had photos of him with the stuff when he was a kid. Sorta cool. He had one too many Thorens TD 160 turntables so I helped him out and bought this: Mark Edited November 10, 2017 by cincymat can't type 4

(Did not see a way to "just post it" without doing a reply.") Found a pair of Chorus II's in Tampa, FL for about $500. They have some veneer damage and lousy grilles, but think "I have to get these" . Have Cornwall I's and Forte I's (both with Crites' Ti diaphragms) as well as 6 pair of KG series speakers. No clue what I would do with them Got he "price listing from @wvu80 (thanks again) and think it might be worth it. Buy it or not? Appreciate your inputs. Cheers, Emile
oldtimer
Sure, why not. I bought a beater pair of black ones for $200. As long as they work you can find a use.

Could use them to replace my KG5.2, currently used as rears in my 7.1 living room system. Overkill? Or, replace my Forte I's in my "stereo room," and use those Forte's as rears? oldtimer
Well then you definitely need them, and no, we don't believe in overkill here.

Appreciate your inputs. You have my spreadsheet, so you now know what I know. Buy or not? IMO it's kind of a choice of values. You already know they are about $138 under the "average" price, so good to go on that front. Those front grills aren't in good shape and I think in a living room set up it might bug you. They have the dreaded plant on top, so look for water rings. My favorite speakers, the CF-4s don't have front grills so they are relegated to the Man Cave, which is OK with me because it's where I do most of my listening. The pretty RF-83's do living room duty. Like you, the Chorus II's fascinate me. I would love to hear them sometime. I think the $500 might be a fair price for speakers in that condition, which would be a Condition C on my spreadsheet because of the grills. If you resell them I don't think you would get top dollar out of them, but I think you could get your money back out of them if you don't like them. I say go for it, but offer $400 because of the damage to the grills and probably water rings on the top. Then tell me how they sound.

(Woman) seller is kind of a "pain" ... asked for extra pics and response was "just come and look at them." Also, asked to "audition" them, with response "they are fine." Emile
Hi @oldtimer and @wvu80 Thanks for the "go-ahead" advice. Have been trying and trying but seller is an absolute pain in the a**. She already cancelled 2 appointments, does not want to sent extra pics, raised the price by $100 since someone else was interested and won't confirm that they are hooked up so that I can check them out. (Lost $250 on a bad pair of KG5.2's a month ago because I did not check them. ) Will try one more time tomorrow. Also ... "bad" part of town so I'll be "carrying" my F&N Five-Seven. Cheers, Emile
oldtimer
$600 now? They would have to be near perfect, only small barely noticeable nicks and dings plus in perfect working order for that. If you are going to check them out bring your own power and music source, and some speaker wire and hook it up yourself. Sheesh. Good luck, maybe these aren't meant to be.
richieb
Raised the price 'cause someone was interested? Sounds like a real piece of work to me. Considering the antics she's pulled would be last she would hear from me. I need nothing that bad. Pass ----

We probably shouldn't talk shop about such things (I'm avoiding the "G" word) but I also CC and that Five-Seven is awesome! FYI have an M&P Shield 9mm. I don't know what to tell you about the PIA Seller who raised the price a hundred bucks. Only you know if it's worth it to you. I trust your judgement.

Actually, have some F&N's PS90's also... we live on Tampa Bay and IF a good size hurricane hits we'll need them to keep looters out.
