There was that and also you had a legion of ”dtel” family, friends, and affiliates - I think Christie is the only one left nowadays. 😄

Yes, and I never wanted ANY of them here, the wife i didn't care but the kids signed up just because I threatened them about facebook. I am NOT on facebook and they wanted me to join, i told them If I sign up i am going to call them out on all of there BS post knowing the truth. The backed off and left me alone and pretty much stopped posting here, it worked.

As far as Christy she was like the average wife, your speakers are working why do you want more? So as I  would read here and if I started to laugh she wanted to know what was so funny, after a good while of this she got to know some of the names here. Then one day I signed on and she was posting which was a surprise, then she got it about this hobby. Then a while later Amy got her to help with the moderating, which over time sucked all the fun out of it. But at least now she gets all the audio differences, so it is good.

Randy can have today; but tomorrow how about you all say really nice things about me?

Perhaps this post belongs in the Garage Sale section?

Nobody would buy it.

Just to stay on topic of dyeing, (it seems popular). Do you fit in any of the groups ?

A new study by a medical journal revealed that most of the people in New York City who were hospitalized due to coronavirus had one or more underlying health issues.

Health records from 5,700 patients hospitalized within the Northwell Health system -- which housed the most patients in the country throughout the pandemic -- showed that 94 percent of patients had more than one disease other than COVID-19, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

Data taken from March to early April showed that the median age of patients was 63 years old and 53 percent of all coronavirus patients suffered from hypertension, the most prevalent of the ailments among patients.

In addition, 42 percent of coronavirus patients who had body mass index (BMI) data on file suffered from obesity while 32 percent of all patients suffered from diabetes.

The study also revealed that the overwhelming majority of patients who were on ventilators eventually died, and those who did more often had diabetes.

Data gathered from 2,634 patients who either died or were discharged from the hospital showed that 12 percent of them were placed on ventilators and of those who were, 88 percent of them died.

“Having serious comorbidities increases your risk,” said Karina Davidson, one of the study’s authors and senior vice president for the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, which is part of the Northwell Health system, according to reports by Time.

“This is a very serious disease with a very poor outcome for those who have severe infections from it. We want patients with serious chronic disease to take a special precaution and to seek medical attention early, should they start showing signs and symptoms of being infected. That includes knowing that they’ve been exposed to someone who has this virus.”

Don't think anyone here fits that description.  😉

This shows exercise and to take better care of yourself will help (we already knew that I think).

Other articles have pointed out exercise and deeper breathing and overall body benefits (reducing hypertension, diabetes, weight, and such) should be recommended just as much as social distancing.

The latest in the news this morning is that covid 19 causes blood clots weather your young or old and recommend giving blood thinners first thing as treatment.

JJK

There goes all the baby aspirin off the shelves.

The news in Belgium was that more males are seriously ill from covid 19 than females, because the virus hides in the testicles. It takes about two days longer for the immune system to deal with the virus because of that. Two days that can make the difference between life and death.

Too early in the morning for me  Elden.  I was amazed at the long string without any of your charming creative spelling before I realized it was a pasted quote.

Without testing, we can’t compile data about those who became infected, remained asymptomatic, and spread the virus to others without ever knowing they had been infected.  I suspect the number is higher than we think.  I also suspect many of those who remained asymptomatic, although infected, had one or more of the comorbidities.

This has been coming since the original reports of lesions on the feet and toes being blue.  Definitely indicates blood clots.  Hopefully there are no additional side effects from blood thinners as the side effects of taking them already are bad.  You have to do what you have to do though.

I read that also.  Gives another twist to the phrase, “hang in there.”

All stocked up.  When my father died at 64 in 1988 from what an autopsy revealed was not his first heart attack, I started taking an aspirin a day.  Cheapskate that I am, I took a full dose aspirin, as they’re cheaper than low dose.  Don’t make that mistake. Low dose is better.

So keeping them cleaned out will help?

Is there a pornhub 2? I don't like watching reruns.

Somewhere back, Travis posted a point system where a point was given if you're a female, and more points for other conditions that made someone more vulnerable for the Wuhan virus to be worse. I may not be recalling it correctly.

Prior studies done with the influenza virus A demonstrated that obese people take longer to fully recover from their illness. Essentially they continued to shed the virus for far longer than the svelte population. Generally speaking it’s no mystery that physical condition affects susceptibility and severity of illness.......   and this data from covid19 really seems to highlight that circumstance. In time we will get a clearer picture of these demographics. But - I suspect we’ll learn that the constellation of conditions associated with poor physical conditioning are far more consequential than we know.

Science understands ‘herd’ immunity but applies that logic strictly to communal disease resistance based upon the immune status of the community. Perhaps there is communal vulnerability associated with the physical status of that population? If we took 2 groups of similar aged peoples, one group in top notch shape - the other in ‘couch potato’ state and exposed one of each group to a viral bug - how quickly would that contagion evolve- how severe would the illness become - how long would the illness last - how many would die - how many would suffer long term consequences?

Certainly age plays a role here. We know that as we age the bodies ability to ward off, and fight illnesses becomes diminished. So an illness in a retirement community is a different situation than in the general public. Do we have something similar with hefty populace’s? Does a community with a large population of obese people suffer greater because of those people?

Should it become a social responsibility to be fit as much as a personal one?

Yes.

It also goes back to the MEME I posted about how dense the population is. Recently, I have had to go to a couple of stores. In one store (Kroger, in this case), ~ 50% + of the people were wearing some sort of protection. When I went to Lowe's, close to 100% were not wearing any protection. Knowing how most of the shoppers at Lowe's don't wear hearing or eye protection when using power tools and such, they will suffer from complacency.

Wearing these low scale masks is meant to help keep the ‘unknowing’ infected from spreading the virus by knocking down the exhaled velocity of the contagion. These masks will not keep people from being infected if exposed to an aerosol of the virus. So when you go to a store where others are unmasked EVERYONE in the store is put at greater risk. Sadly, like other issues, unless everyone complies - everyone stands to suffer. I have the same problem where I live. It is maddening - but you can’t fix stupid.

It is still way too soon to tell, but this latest study on HCQ, HCQ+Zpac vs. nothing is NOT very encouraging. Retrospective study, with some problems in groups selected US based Not as bad as the hocus pocus with numbers like with 1st and 3rd Marsalis studies, but more data is going to be needed. No zinc in this one, and there needs to be a lot more study on that. Keep taking Zinc lozenges.

Finally some good news.  I can flush my testicles without a precscription.
