    • Cold in Duckburg and I'm holed up for the most part.   22 for a high today w/temps dropping into the teen's next week?  Yea, under control.  About 3 inches of snow the other morning and my neighbor is up to something with his snow blowing.  Got out of the plowing deal here in the hood a few years ago but I'd hit all the neighbors drives for free.  Stay inside and watch cause it takes me 5 minutes and I'm jammin out.  Now he's slipping around knockin out drives with his blower.  Yea, that works for me but now what do I do with this big blower I just dropped 1k on?  It's just takin up space in the garage now.  Whatever works right?    Teens next week for daily highs and calling for more snow so we're gonna see how long he keeps up the good work.  He's knockin 3 drives out in addition to his.  I'm grinnin.  😂   Time for more coffee.  We got this!   Auto-pilot!
    • Thanks for the link for the read. I’ll have to read into that later.   What kind of amp is best for La Scalas?   My main amps: Crown DC300A (155w/channel at 8 Ohms) Philips AH578 (210 w/channel at 8 Ohms)
    • No, I meant a Cornwall/Chorus speaker utilizing the new AL6 horn. However, with a 18" woofer and passive radiator. With a passive radiator the box size would not exceed the existing Cornwall.
    • @Deang maybe this alternative way of protecting the K77 without loosing (much or any) SQ is a measure for @10deep to be sure that the K77 remains healthy. I'll try it out too, unfortunately I forgot the parts when I ordered my last Mouser.
    • @hcnelly you are basically having the same experience as me with my new K33E. The “problem” is that a Klipschorn, LaScala or LaBelle still sounds fairly ok with old worn out woofers until you compare them to new ones which is another league. I don't mean that you have to change the woofers every 10 years, but 35 or even 50 years can be a different case. I wish you much joy with it!
    • I bought my first used quad from my job beside school in 1975, a 33 pre which I later combined with a 405 power amp. Then later came 34 pre with 306 power amp until the mid-90s, then 25 years of tubes of all kinds, including Quad II tube amps. Since I was at home in 2020 because of Covid 19 and during that time I restored old Quad 34 and 306 which I bought cheaply with new caps etc. I rediscovered the sound. All my tube gear is very good but since 4 years I am in love with this Quad transistor sound again. For the Klipschorns I bought an old 606 power amp 1.5 years ago because it can drive lower impedances than the 306. It's great that Quad is still in the market, albeit from the far east, but they really care about the brand and the products. When the new retro look series 33/303 was introduced 2 months ago, it warmed my heart. And although I don't think I'll ever need any other amps, I'm very tempted because it's a time machine back to my youth. I love this visual design plus it sounds very good according to some reviews and it is relatively affordable priced.   https://quad-hifi.co.uk/products/quad-33
    • I really don't have that option to put speakers in the ceiling, also because of some injuries I put the TV up higher, really just wanted to know what Front height speakers, rear height speakers. Top heights, rear top speakers do. What changes as far as sound

    • The soon to arrive AL6, moved from a 15 to a ported 12 in and new mid horn
    • I personally think each iteration has been an improvement/refinement. I own Heresy IIs. The Heresy IVs are a big jump, now with a rear firing port. Placement is always critical. I've not heard the HIVs, but trust what friends have said who bought them.
