    • the obvious answer is that's no longer a Cornwall, but something else entirely.
    • it's worth noting that Klispch isn't a small company operating out a shed in Hope AR, anymore. They're part of a multinational corporation and have the overhead middle management, marketing and the e-suite to cover, as well as multinational manufacturing operations& distribution that all have to extract as much value from the product line as possible in order to deliver maximum returns to shareholders. This creates significant inflation beyond the Consumer Price Index, so, with profit and overhead, a speaker that costs $1299 to manufacture, has a retail value of $8000 to cover it all. This is the reality of corporate production today.
    • They always tend to have more natural insulation. Before the radiation a decade back I had more of that natural sunscreen on my legs. HAIR!
    • 39 and sunny.  Just walked the Swankster.  He was energetic....likes the cold.  Me...not so much.
    • Up to 25 down here now @Dave1291. Someone wiped out down at my creek last night but at least they didn't go over. We ended up with 4" of snow Sun. Packed down by a lot of ice Mon morning, must have been 1/8" or more! I recall that much always wreaking havoc in CLT, not so much here Had the sound of a sun-shower all day yesterday and there's still some left. Went out and got my OJ yesterday, AWD kicked in on that bad patch on the way back!
    • Cold?  Time to warm up!           Then there's this guy...
    • It's business simple.  "Whatever the market will bear" cliche applies here.  Devin putting together his ideas w/ the Chief tossin his into the mix.  Ya get what you pay for IF you're willing to throw down the cash.  Doesn't matter if it's JBL, Kli[sch or a coffee can with string.  If it sounds good and it's what you want then have at it.  Life's simple IF you can let it go.  Kinda maybe.
    • I can only tell you what I am very happy with in Europe. The LaSacla, mine is from 1977, works very well with Quad II tubes, MC275 Mcintosh, but also Leak Stereo 20. I think the LaScala is very good-natured. The Klipschorn is more demanding with the lower impedance in the bass. But what surprises me most is how well the LaScala copes with the small Quad combination preamp 34 and power amp 306 from the 80s and 90s.  The Quad 306s have two benefits. Firstly, it is the quietest amp I know of in terms of inherent noise and secondly, it is totally free of distortion at much less than one watt due to its unique current dumping circuit, where a small class A amp of 400 mW takes over the control of the large power transistors zhere no almost no crossover distortion. For the last 4 years I have only been listening to the 306 on the LaScala and its big brother the 606 (for the Klipschorn). But the 306 sounds even sweeter, almost like a SET with muscles.
    • Cold in Duckburg and I'm holed up for the most part.   22 for a high today w/temps dropping into the teen's next week?  Yea, under control.  About 3 inches of snow the other morning and my neighbor is up to something with his snow blowing.  Got out of the plowing deal here in the hood a few years ago but I'd hit all the neighbors drives for free.  Stay inside and watch cause it takes me 5 minutes and I'm jammin out.  Now he's slipping around knockin out drives with his blower.  Yea, that works for me but now what do I do with this big blower I just dropped 1k on?  It's just takin up space in the garage now.  Whatever works right?    Teens next week for daily highs and calling for more snow so we're gonna see how long he keeps up the good work.  He's knockin 3 drives out in addition to his.  I'm grinnin.  😂   Time for more coffee.  We got this!   Auto-pilot!
    • Thanks for the link for the read. I’ll have to read into that later.   What kind of amp is best for La Scalas?   My main amps: Crown DC300A (155w/channel at 8 Ohms) Philips AH578 (210 w/channel at 8 Ohms)
