A while ago, I was able to acquire a 45 SET from someone. To be precise, it's the Welbourne DRD45, but I never really gave it a fair chance. I quickly went back to my DIY 300B SET or my Melody 2A3 PP. However, for the past two weeks, I've reconnected the 45 SET to my AL5, and I'm genuinely amazed by how good it sounds. Maybe everything is falling into place now that I've also addressed my room acoustics, I have no idea... but what an incredible match with the speakers this is. The sound is very realistic, the imaging is excellent, it sounds open and fresh, dynamic with more detail, and especially the vocals have gained a kind of magical realistic glow. This is the best amp for me so far, and it makes me want more. I read that many people who appreciate the 45 tube find the 46 to sound even better than the 45. Are there any Klipsch enthusiasts who have experience with the 45 vs. 46 SET? And is it true that you can use the 46 tube in a 45 SET with an adapter?

I have to agree that Jensen caps are very lossy. Metalized film is too bright.

Turns out, it continues to be the most effective way to maintain the IRL relationships. Once you surpass 25 people or so it just becomes untenable. My memory is foggy, but I think we were in the 100-150 range during the last Pilgrimage era. Corporate funding, while helpful, also came with boundaries and conditions that ultimately made it feel inauthentic and empty compared to the smaller grassroots gatherings.

Sorry woofy I thought @babadono made the comment above. A couple decades ago when the Klipsch Forums started many of us also got together in local gatherings and it became the community fabric along with the Pilgrimages.

I find 5/16 (or 2.5/8 😉) is usually enough.

This is the T18 build. They are great projects, if you are reasonably handy.Buy the plans & follow Bill’s instructions to the letter and you’ll get good results. If you decide to go this route,there are some folks here that are ace builders, and great resources. Okay, I am going to have to get my ST70 in the queue. I have an Audio Research SP8 preamp that might go well with it. @Audio Flynn, do you still have your Audio Research SP12?

What? I didn't ask, but I am trying to understand what point you're trying to make. Typically, you go against what I say. Are you, again, trying to correct me? I am not sure if you're catching on to bantering between Michael and Eric. They are a part of a small group who have audio gatherings. I don't know the head count for the Pilgrimage in 2018 or 2019, but it was only getting larger yearly. After the Covid lockdown was lifted, everyone was ready to get out and that would have been a record-setting attendance, if there wasn't the squabble that resulted in the departure of so many members.

I found the thread, for my Table Tuba build. It turned into my “Pandemic Project, as I’d just finished gathering parts before the world shut down. it documents the whole build.

Thanks for the tip, I did some research as I had not heard of that brand. Will order a quad to check them our when current tubes die.

Actually, I’ve documented the two I’ve built in threads on this forum. I’ll find the links to those threads. Here’s a pic of the one that probably would suit your Heresys fairly well, it’s the T18.

Just wanted to update everyone who helped out with this thread! I was able to replace the gasket on the midrange drive and the distortion is gone! Thanks to the group for their input! GS

Some (recorded) music is very dynamic, so how much more do I need if 1/4 watt average?

If you’re hoping for an answer or to educate the OP with your findings, they haven’t been on the forum since October of 2008.

BR on the serial rag devotees Birch Raw. In other words, everything that you see that makes it look different than a typical Klipschorn was done after it left the factory.
