  1. Got Harper to the vet this morning.....breakfast at Salt Works. 3 over medium, potatoes, bacon. Blind date for a smoothie at Whole Foods (her idea) at 1:00 today. Had a dream about it last night.....sort of chaotic. Hope you get some rain Mark.....and get those fires under control! Cheers Gents

  2. oh they get them alright -- in fact, Alaska can claim 9 of the top 10 US quakes. Sounds like you're okay Dave and i'm happy for you. We haven't had a decent-sized one here in SoCal for many a years.

The air is thick 69 humidity @74 degrees, last count 8K+ firefighters online, refilled mobile canteens yesterday for 9 hrs. Every red cross mobile canteen in NorCal is onsite, lot of guys to feed.

  9. I do hope that there were no serious injuries. None at all reported. Lots of unnerved pets though. Lots and lots of them. We have no population center to speak of so they generally go unnoticed nationally. (except for 1964) Here's a semi-interesting link - granted most of them are very small - but Alaska has had 337 Earthquakes since Monday. No ! Smart girl, a public place is safer, you never know these days, for all she knows you could be one of those weirdo's who hangs out online all the time on those mostly men's sites where the obsess over hobbies and women all day. Wait that didn't come out right wisely, i doubt that Chuck mentions even knowing us.

  13. Hard to believe everything may be covered in white snow in a couple months. We are having some beautiful weather so far this Fall. Got tired or waiting for this monarch to open fully. Lots of bees too, but they were too busy to mess with me, thankfully.

  26. Magnitude 6.1 Earthquake just now - that was a good one! Probably 30 seconds long! Doesn't sound like a lot, but watching the windows in the building across the parking lot reflect the sun all over like a disco ball and my dual monitors almost touch for half a minute (@ work) it gets ones attention. Earthquakes are very humbling events. Have a touch of vertigo right now - I'm going for a little walk!

  27. I bought a Denon receiver back in the mid 90s to replace a Yamaha for double duty (music and HT). Although it did sound better than the Yammy, it was no great shakes for music. That was the beginning of separating the two formats, The Denon worked fine for movies and I bought a McCormack DNA-1 for music. All was well...... Shakey

  33. Yup, a spec that is proudly advertised on the back of them, and your correct about the audible difference...purely a marketing dept requirement. The RB-5 was a very well received speaker, the critics were for the best part in agreement that it was one fine speaker.

  34. Yes, only difference is finish, I own both rb5 and rb5ii and they are an excellent speaker.

  35. We have had this conversation before.. My Rythmik diggs deeper and sounds better than any sub SVS makes, this is a 50/50 argument though and I understand that. I would just like to go to two smaller sealed subs in gloss black. I've considered the 12" Rythmik's but with the 45 day money back guarantee, why not try the new gloss SB-2000? I might even spring for the SB Ultra and add one later, probably be a game time decision. Also, these STS towers sound every bit as good as the 63's I had. The 63's would probably go louder when pushed but my -15 movie listening habits, I probably would never know. wouldn't say the STS's are better by any means but just as good. The looks and footprint is exactly what I was looking for. I can't get away with a beastly HT like you Scrappy, my small living room just won't support it. I have finally reached the perfect balance between performance and aesthetics. Couldn't be more pleased with my decision. Cheers!

  37. It's so roomy and open on the front side, I'm not worried about it. I'm surprised how little heat this receiver (Yamaha V577) produces in the first place, even with it cranked loud for long periods of time.

  40. We "forum veterans" need to maintain a certain amount of swagger and at least act like we know a bunch of "stuff" whether we do or not!! (This could be a problem, however, if someone asks us a serious question). No way, that name or post count has nothing to do with if " we know a bunch of stuff " or not, I am living proof ! ( and I am not alone )

  43. Helen Humes "Songs I like to Sing" sounds incredible, comes off a clean master. Nancy Wilson, Abby Lincoln, Flora Purim, Helen Merrill, June Christy, Annie Ross, Astrud Gilberto, Blossom Dearie besides those named above. I enjoy them all. Check out some Big Mama Thornton videos on youtube sometime.

  44. Well that's good that you liked them cause the cinemas are even better. If you went in walls thx you'll save space. But if you built a baffle for kl-650 they are a foot deep. So what a extra 1/2" for the cinema kpt-325. Room will be done soon. You can come back up. I'll have a beer for ya and the wives can entertain each other. Then you can hear the cinema and I can even make sure just a pair of the 18's are on instead of all 4. Then you'll know exactly what you would be getting into. And if it means holding off on a decision for just a couple more weeks, in my opinion, worth the wait. And subs if you don't wanna build your own I can help you. I enjoyed building mine.
