  1. Retirees it's Saturday. I think we have temperature outside but I'm not sure what it is Working on the first cup and feeling a little fuzzy this morning. Jake fed and back in his bed. I have The Rifleman on The tributes to Boxx went well and could be found in two different threads.....RTM and 3 Minutes To Miller Time. Take the time to read the many kind words spoken to Boxx and his family. Once again it made me proud of this community. LF is seeing off her family this morning so we will have the rest of the day together. Jake probably wants to go to the dog park. I want to hear my system with the software newly installed. I got the feeling that some of us will be recuperating from last night but what do the rest of you have on tap? Cheers Gents

  2. Yep Sancho that's how Jake and I felt. JL.....LF never had children. One sister and the rest nieces in the picture. The pretty lady on the left helped me with the DAC software installation. She is starting college about an hour from here. She is also in the Army and has completed a six month boot camp. She is 19 and wants to make the military her career. Walked Jake.....cold and windy out. Talked on phone with LF. She reports the family gave me a passing grade (first time meeting them). Will try to nap a bit and see LF this afternoon. Yep duder......going to get that DAC/Spotify thing going later. Joe....my mouth is watering.....yum.....buttermilk pancakes. Well done!

  3. Fun time. Ever notice how North Fork's population drops some including tourists whenever Lucas and Mark come to town. The Rifleman alright. Think he had to shoot someone with a pistol once or twice. Anyways, shoot low sheriff, he's ariding a pony. He may have only shot those that needed shooting. Frontier justice, quick and final. Sortof reminds me of Judge Bean except for, justice is even quicker than the good judge... Think those likes are like bullets. start off each day/24 hour cycle with a full magazine. Before long, out of ammo...: )

  4. Up since 630, I was expecting a load of wood delivered. But never showed, anywho 3 cups into the day. I picked up doughnuts for the family, snacks for the basketball team for our first game. I might stop off at a antique store looking for a 6 panel door for the basement. Looks like we won't hear from Tarheel the rest of the day. I say get Jake to the park first thing, then back home to fire up the system to have music playing for you and the lf. Yes Boxx's memorial was lovely, I am glad I had the chance to attend. Starting a new day today, yesterday wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. One little situation through me way off. I need to find a way to control my emotions more, I feel its holding my back in life.

  7. Happy Saturday, guys. Chilly morning in Colorado. Not much on tap except finally putting Xmas tree, etc., away and out for dinner tonight. Aubrey is improving and hopefully home tomorrow morning. Great picture Tarheel (Chuck). Glad you and Jake passed the 'face-the-folks' test.

  9. Space doesn't get a lot of press right now, but SpaceX attempt to soft land a 14 story booster on a 300X300 foot platform in the Atlantic this morning after a "flawless" ISS resupply mission should be noted. No pictures yet, and SpaceX says it was foggy and bad weather around the platform so the video may not be much. However, they've apparently examined the platform and said there was a bit of damage but easily fixable for another attempt. It was characterized as a "hard landing," generally meaning that the spacecraft didn't crash but also didn't successfully land. Hard to tell if it hit hard, or hit the edge and fell into the sea, or what. Point is this is a milestone and what we should have done 30 years ago instead of the shuttle. Shuttle main engines were a marvel...50,000 parts. This booster is FAR less complex and SpaceX believes it can get 40 launches before needing significant repairs. It's what we need for a REAL space age. Dave

  10. Morning all. Just waiting for the heater to take the chill off of the garage. It was 47 inside the garage when I checked last. Time to make a little saw dust out there. I think I'll play some Pink Floyd in honor of Boxx while I work. I noticed they were referenced in his very last post.

  15. Waiting for the wife to return from WallyWorld run, then off to a Smithwicks for breakfast. Weather is holding at 60 degree days, i like it, workable boat time. Just ran into the old neighbor next door, great old guy in his 90s, ask me about strange smell he picks up sometimes, brought him over to show him the Boat project, Resin/Glass work does smell a tad sometimes. he also ask why he has NOT heard Patsy Cline for a couple months? i tell him it's because the neighbor behind him complained. He say's, fk-him, your allowed to make "Noise" between 7am and 10pm, you run your music between 9am and 6pm, so fk-him. I see a "Patsy Day" when i get home later today

  18. Maybe a change of heart from the Budman? I am sensing a lot of discord on the forum lately. In the honor of Boxx, let's just keep the peace and NOT be like any other forum on the internet. Bill

  22. I'm a little late to this topic, but Genevieve I just wanted to express my condolences to you and your family. As many have said your father was a vital part of this community, and he'll be greatly missed. And welcome to the forum, you'll find many characters here, and many more who respected and cherished your dad.

  27. Erik made some excellent points about the ratio of potentially poor, interference prone, home wiring to the short length of a power cord between the outlet and piece of equipment. Before spending a great deal of money on a power cord, it would make much more sense to 1) tighten the connections at the breaker which feeds the outlet(s) into which the equipment is plugged (you would be amazed at how those can loosen over the passing years resulting in a high resistance connection), 2) remove the breaker and coat the contacts with Noalox or equivalent to ensure a better electrical connection and then reinstall, 3) pull the outlets, and if you find that the wiring was inserted into the pressure lock holes (which are also prone to forming high resistance connections), shut the breaker, remove the wires, and reinstall by wrapping them around the contact screws and firmly tightening, and 4) apply a little Deoxit to the prongs of the equipment plugs before inserting into the outlet. These 4 steps are far more likely to yield a performance improvement than any exotic power cord! Obviously, if you aren't familiar with doing this in a safe manner, call in an electrician to do it!!! 32. I must apologize for not being there, was working than cooking and was just unusually busy. By the time I looked everything was winding down, I felt like crap for that but glad it went well. Glad you passed the LF family's test, not surprised at all. Jake probably didn't know what was going on with all them women.

  33. I've lived in a Farm House for most of my life. When the crops come off, the mice come running for the house! They sell electronic Hypersonic noise makers that plug in the wall sockets. Haven't seen a mouse or found any evidence of a mouse in over 15 years! A lot cheaper and a lot less nasty than having a cat in the house. Next excuse for having a cat in the house, because being a mouser don't cut it! Roger Next excuse for not liking cats; that one don't cut it? Scared of a little pu55y.

  34. Unfortunately I cant eat them, I just make them for the wife and the boys.............................I had scrambled eggs with ham and cheese mixed in..........wont call it an omlet as it was in pieces, I am a tad OCD if my eggs dont come out right I am just as likely to throw them out and start over as I am to eat them (same for most things I do / cook)

  37. Genevieve and Alex, welcome to the family. It's an honor to have you two join us. I have been absent from the forum for quite a while, but my husband spoke of your father often. His passing is surely a great loss to this "virtual" community. If you haven't already, you will soon discover why your dad visited here so often. My deepest sympathy to you, your mom, your family and your friends.

  38. All...Boxx was young by many of our standards. But one thing should be emphasized and remembered by his family as well. He'd done a great job in life and left it without pain from his happy place from Alec's description. Boxx died an enviable death and I'd be good with the same at this very moment. He was blessed, and, as my mother said "No one is called home until their mission is complete." Dave

  46. Michael, My father would have been touched to read your write up. I know I was. I enjoyed creating such a thoughtful and meaningful playlist in honor of my Dad. These are the songs that I will always remember my Dad playing- it is so funny how sometimes it's the little things that remind you and shape your memories forever. My Dad was a unique and genuinely awesome person. I look forward to carrying on his legacy here in the Forum, and by reading and writing about things that will remind me of him. It will certainly help to keep his memory alive. Please message me anytime. I would love to chat with you. Thanks so much for attending, it meant a lot to me. -Genevieve

  47. Too much bass is a product of not calibrating properly. You can couple a behemoth ported dual 18 with a pair of small bookshelf speakers and blend them perfectly together with proper gain adjustment. Don't get caught up in driver sizes. Get a big enough sub so you won't have to upgrade down the road and keep the gain low for now.

  48. Here’s my five minute guitar lesson … crank up the amp so loud their ears bleed -- then act like you know what you’re doing after that. years ago, on this very forum, Colter quoted one of the guys from Deep Purple…”make everything louder than everything else.” I still love that line. Chuck -- i’m not meaning to question your teaching skills; but, i caused a fire while boiling water. You don’t want me as a student, at least not in YOUR kitchen.

  49. I am still so saddend by this. For years we've had fun banter about sports, music, food, the weather, etc. This is really the only forum I participate in and really try to follow and I love reading post from all of you. There was an instant connection with Boxx ( if that makes sense), he was very accepting to all, and with him being from Texas, he made a kid from Utah with Texas roots feel welcomed here. I feel there is a void for sure now and it sucks, I am really bummed by this. I hope his family can know how much he has meant to so many of us. A few years ago I sent Kevin a few cds, and I was so stoked to see that he was posting them on Right This Minute.
