  3. Mornin' all. Running late ... seriously slept in this morning. Duder ... i'd give you a like on your burnt breakfast, but i'm too overcome with jealousy that you can eat pancakes!! Been off the carbs, etc., so long it would be like giving me a "fix". Looks like our crack weather forecasters screwed it up again. We're heading into snow later today. Changing plans to get the smoker cranked up today. Happy Sunday and cheers!

  4. Had to feed the girls first thing this morning. So I'm a little late for the first cup, since I was paying attention to something else when cooking. I ended up with some slightly burned pancakes. So that's what I am having for a late breakfast.

  7. Finishing up my daughter's bday party at the local skating rink. I guess things must get heated after 630, as there is a cop at the door with metal detectors. Now time for the slumber party with 6 twelve year old girls. I told the wife I am locking myself in the garage.

  13. Had a few friends over this evening for Valentines Cookout. One of my neighbors invited his brother and sister-n-law over. Brian asked me to show his brother the HT. He shares that he has a Magnapan setup with a Sony Receiver. I showed him the components and I demoed a scene from Transformers Dark of the Moon, then switched over to music from Spotify and Youtube. He couldn't believe the amount of detail the LaScalas produced. He kept saying, "And those are from the 80's?". That's totally what I fell in love with on the LaScalas....the amount of detail, huge soundstage and smooth midrange. I'm enjoying the LS more and more each day.

  19. I also have a few TV's myself. As in this forum I choose what I want to see/read or listen to. I have seen new Babies pictures posted that I chose to read the thread. I have seen GF, new boat, firearms of interest. Anything I don't want to view I have the option to not view. So don't give me that "If it's not stereo it doesn't belong here." Now the part I don't like is when I feel someone thinks they know what I want see and more then I know. I hope it was just a bit of miss communication and no one is suggesting I'm unable to make my own choices along with the other forum members I have seen many topics that are non-stereo related. Some appear to be heading out of line only to come back to where I might find it to be reasonable, and someone else may think it is still unreasonable. Off topic threads give more diversity to the forum. Helps keep the place from becoming the same old boring squat that some of the other sites appear to be.

  24. That's because everyone knows they can be ticketed/arrested for doing something they didn't even realize was illegal when they did it. Seriously we have way too many laws that can get you into trouble and most people don't even know what they are. I'm told often "ignorance is no excuse for the law." My reply is "please, start from the beginning and recite the code for me." It buggers me that you can be arrested for doing something illegal when you didn't know it was illegal. Then the prosecutor has to spend time looking up what law you broke, because HE doesn't even know. Yeah... I remember the last time I was stopped by a dad-burn police officer. It was in 1989. After leaving from a hospital visit I decided that I would take a route to my Dad's home passing thru the neighborhood that I was born and by the closed school where I had attended the 1st thru 3rd grades. The old school was about to be demolished after decades of standing unused and it was such a magnificent stone structure that I wanted to see it one last time. As I was driving along in a my wife's car, which I was unfamiliar with, and was approaching a traffic light I glanced down to adjust the air conditioning. As I looked up I saw the traffic light was red just as I went under it. Dang, that sounds like a siren behind me. Sure enough, as I looked in the rearview mirror I could see the blue lights a-flashin'. I was pretty pizzed as I pulled over to the curb. I decided that I would confront this sorry officer for daring to stop me. I mean after all, it was me. As I watched him approach my window I could see that he was a huge black guy. I rolled down the window and lit into him. Smiling I said, 'Hello Officer'. He asked for my license and registration. After checking my license he returned to my window and asked what I was doing in the area. WTF? I mean, I know that I didn't live in the area and even though the area was a high crime area that appeared to be the remains of a blackened earth plague type horror movie set, it was none of his business what I was doing there. I mean, I know that he wasn't concerned for my safety since he was a sorry-a$$ police officer. I related the above to him and he handed me back my papers an suggested that I drive carefully and watch those traffic signals. The guy was phucking with me. He was pulling off this sarcastic normal nice guy type act. But I knew better ! I mean, he had on that blue uniform ! He had to be the psychotic result of a incestuous February-December relationship. And since he was black he must be a racist too ! So you're right Dave, he showed up and I was pizzed. Keith the officer treated you with respect and gave you the benefit of the doubt , you were in a high crime area , and God Knows was they had happening in the zone , he took your papers to identify you to see if you had any priors for a stop sign , that is standard procedure in all the US of A - with no priors coming back from the dispatcher's registration and driver license check , the officer has the discretion to not enforce the red light ticket or give one - -, he let you go on a simple warning , what a nice police officer - very civil indeed , and does it matter whether he was white or black , after all we are all God's Children and color is only skin deep - -I like the polite southern people , every time I am in Alabama , I thank the Lord for seeing that even a poor man is worthy of my greetings as he does the same to me - come down to NY and see how the good manners are gone , you may then see the light -

  25. Good afternoon my friends / coffee lovers................. We had MORE snow last night and today, lots of wind and blowing white outs ! Still have to run the snowblower, but waiting for a little calm. Was going to roof rake a bit too. Well, morning coffee still around at this late hour, sipping and working on upgrades to a 2004 Dell PC. Cloning in a NEW 1TB drive... It is good to have a spare just in case, no ? Thanks for the comments on the preamp work. I got to send the rest to you in the finished stage. It was tested last night, but something was amiss. The volume control still did not seem right. First chance I got after breakfast, I looked at my photos from a few weeks back when I started that project. HA! Silly me, one wire was reversed on the right channel pot !! So, did the quick fix and channels are all balanced now. I need to look into cleaning up the AC in the system now. Got ground loop issues that need to be addressed. Ok, enjoy your day everyone...............more later..... ..........gw

  27. Well, I'm glad you guys posted what you did in the latter part of this thread. This started out with what looked like a troll or scammer posting a ridiculous audio related CL ad, but ended up as something different, which no one really could have predicted. I think the original intent was to help fellow forum members recognize and stay away from a known CL scammer. In that light some good was done, and perhaps we should leave it at that.

  31. I'm not sure I know what you are talking about? I've only owned a few Klipsch speakers. As mentioned, take your time, be patient, do your research to discover what you are looking for and the right deal will come along.

  32. There can be a dog, tiger, elephant or anything on the tv and my dogs will lay there in their sleepy stupor.... If and when however, a dog (or other animal) might bark over the Klipsch speakers.... they will immediately turn their head and react. That's gotta say something good.

  33. My son had something similar happen to him in Huntsville. Police ran his tag because he looked suspicious. Saw that he had a LTC, asked him to exit his vehicle - exited his vehicle and hit him with a taser. Well, to the officers surprise - they just held up and shocked a US Military member in the deportment of his duties. Officer said he was suspicious because no young African Americans that he knows of in that area drives a nice, new Buick Regal, and he had a Florida tag so they thought it was a drug runner. Officer is up on charges and dismissed from the force after the JAG got involved.

  38. Damn! Why didn't think of this. I've been trying to come up with some stupid idea that audiophiles would ante up for that I could charge huge profit on and costs little to nothing to make. And this fits the bill. I can't find any patent protection (yet). Maybe I'll go into competition with them and make some that cost even more so that they sound better!

  42. rf-42ii theater is a great little theater for price and size. But me personally, wouldn't want that as my one and only theater unless budget and space were big problems. But I'm also not your average listener. I've had many friends over that love my living room theater and say they would love to own something that good. So it's all relative to what you know

  45. Two K33E in parallel will drop to about 2.5Ω, low enough to cause a problem long term with virtually all receivers.
