  4. Try not to fall off. I've never fallen off a house (knock on wood) but have fallen out of a tree. It's true what they say, it's not the fall that gets you, it's the sudden stop. Carl I have to climb up at 3 different points....the front is the most dangerous and since LF was here I had her hold the bottom of the ladder so the feet didn't kick out. My 70 year old neighbor was walking by and suggested I wait till fall is over and the leaves have stopped falling. It's done and looks much better. Another project arose last night. Jake wanted to camp out by himself so I agreed as long as he wore a 30' tether. He has a cool pad, as well as a huge pillow that I put on the porch for him. At some point last night he decided that he wanted to sleep in the bushes so he went to the end of the tether.....did some pulling....and pulled out the picket from the porch railing and broke the 1x6 trim board

  5. Holler if you have a question or problem. My consultation fees are VERY reasonable. Don't forget to take the drain plug out of the side of the disposal before you hook the waste pipe up. Yep….got it. It was pretty simple, the new one was exactly the same size, so it all lined up well. I guess plumbing always seems harder because of trying to fix something inside of a cabinet. I'm a lifetime member of the 200lb club, so crawling inside there isn't fun. Thanks for the consultation offer

  7. I'm in the middle of replacing a bad garbage disposal. Why is it that ANYTHING to do with plumbing is always a bigger job than anticipated? Too bad our resident plumber (Carl) is so far away

  14. Morning folks. Second cup. Sounds as if everyone is staying busy. Sorry about the amp MKP. Congrats on the new tubes Gary. I also use EH but in 6550s in my horn monos. They are self biasing and can use a variety of tubes.....6550s, KT-88s, 90s, EL-34s. No complaints. Full day on tap after the storm and a full day of drying out. Must get up on the roof and blow off debris, same with porches, patio, drive way, and the road in front of my house. First I need to wash the car before the sun comes out to the part of the drive. Then to get to work mowing the grass. Cheers Ladies and Gents

  15. Good morning Coffee lovers Ok Steve on the playing of some Rick Wakeman... We have quite a few things to listen to, and even though we try to keep things moving, some recordings we never get to.... But, we WILL have at least TWO recordings from an ELP member... The newly acquired Keith Emerson band live from Moscow DVD and the Three Fates Project which is music composed by Emerson for symphony orchestra which is really impressive music/arrangements! Also on the list: a CD of Holst's Planets that demonstrates distant miking from the orchestra and the 'sister' Naxos BluRay audio disc to the Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue. Pezz and I have already played on RTM a number of times. This one also with Jo Ann Falletta conductor and features Gershwin Rhapsody #2 and 'I Got Rhythm' variations and Concerto in F ... Should be a nice time Acoustic panels are IN TOWN according to the tracking sched. and will be here today... Can't wait to hear the changes. Keep you all informed Enjoy the day .............Gary

  16. Good evening my RTM and CC&C friends ! Just went through the posts of the day and enjoyed the banter, videos and all MKP, sorry to hear about the amp going down.....as you may or may not know, I had a similar 'event' this past weekend right during a forum listening session over in RTM..... Here is what will be happening over the next few days and will be cross posted to RTM as well... #1 The brand new acoustic panels for Music Hall will arrive tomorrow and I will make quality recordings with program material recorded with my trusty Shure MS mic and Zoom H4n recorder BEFORE room treatment and AFTER panels installed... #2 NEW Matched 'quad' of KT-88's ordered and on they way! I read some reviews on power tubes of various brands from China and Russia. The beautiful New Sensor 'Gold Lions' I was going to order (again) seem to have a short life span by some of the reviews I read. And I guess my experience having one 'go down' last Friday night proved another casualty on that failure list ! (mine were new in 2009) So, I decided on Electro Harmonix brand, (made in Russia) and their Platinum EH series. Price was good and the first review was by a customer running the same amps as here (Dynaco Mark 3's) and very happy with the sound, and that sold me right there! These have been 'burned in' from the company for 24 hours, ready to go. I ordered them 2nd day air, so they will be up and running for FRIDAY evening's listening session over in RTM. With that and the NEW room treatments, it will be a whole new experience for this guy to hear !! #3 Saturday, I will be heading back to Pezz's place in Rhode Island for an M.A.D. (Music Appreciation Day) session. He has the food and wine already for consumption, and I will provide some NEW Blu Ray audio discs and a video or two along with a peek at the Berlin Philharmonic Symphony orchestra VIA an app. in his Oppo. I bought a YEAR LONG pass, so that will be enjoyed as well, quality is first rate! There you have my report...........everything starts around 8:00pm. eastern Friday evening = reports and photos... M.A.D. on Saturday around 12:30pm. eastern from RI.. Reports and photos to follow.... .....enjoy your evening and improving weather my friends... ...........Gary

  24. I was at Lowes today and almost took a picture to post on the forum. Lowes is loaded with those huge Christmas lawn decorations. It seems a bit ridiculous to have all that stuff out this early. +++ Official Thread Drift: The reason I was at Lowes is because I am looking for a solution to ground moles which have destroyed my front lawn. For two weeks now I've been trying to drive them away with Castor oil based products but they are just digging further down deep. I've failed so completely, using dynamite right now doesn't sound crazy. Any recommendations?

  28. Kids are still doing the same things or worse, but now they're forced into more private venues. I don't really see that as a win. There is nothing for kids 10-17 to do anymore. Malls are dying due to online sales. They wonder why kids get in trouble. If they or their families can't afford to spend on Dave & Busters or some fun place, kids find something. Hey, I was a dumb teen once. We broke EVERYTHING and we were stupid. But we had options. Now kids don't. Scary world we live in.Not quite sure why it is the requirement of the public, or merchants, or the government to provide or give kids "something to do"?? How about parents or family stepping up and figuring it out. How about participating in organized sports, or volunteering in their neighborhoods, or other outdoor activities. NO options? Really? Yep, every 17 year old wants to hang out at the food bank on Saturday nights. I think I accidentally upset Ceptorman. Sorry. Just an opinion. But, opinion only, communities do have some responsibility to provide safe, clean environments. Part of that safety would be controlled venues for young people. I remember arcades. They may have smelled a bit funny, but I never saw violence and had something my low middle class family could afford to pay for. We didn't have money for organized sports e.g. football pads and gear needed to be purchased from the school or a certified supplier and we couldn't afford it. I don't blame my parents. Malls - though expensive, offered a public gathering place indoors for those kids who are allergic to sunlight and activity. And on the sugar soda note - why is our country so against natural ingredients? Or, when we do get 'natural' or organic, it costs more? Cane sugar = win No….it wasn't me, you must have me mistaken for someone else. Plus….it takes a lot to make me mad

  29. The "Pig Trough" at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour. I understand that after being gone for a long time, recently a new group has resurrected the name in SoCal & Hawaii. But they have not been in my area for decades. I wonder how the new enterprise stacks up to the original.

  30. .38 stubnoses... the longest and hardest trigger pull, most uncontrollable recoil, shortest sight radius, lowest capacity, and otherwise hardest to shoot normal sized pistol available. And we give them to our women, who typically never practice, thinking they are somehow most appropriate. At least they often come with pink grips. Not mine, its a retired NYC police issue with wooden grips stainless Smith & Wesson, it is for close quarters if someone wanted to breach the locked door, And I have shown the wife how to shoot, as well as it is a dual action trigger so cock it with the thumb and it is a breeze (I like the reliability of the revolver as well)

  31. Not switching anything one (gun control) leads to the other (gon seizure) unless you are blind or delusional .....................Name one thing the federal government has stuck its nose in that is better and that they will leave well enough alone ?? No 200 congressmen are not the government but they are also not a small insignificant threat to our rights, taking a look at the tally tells me there is a 55 or 60 vote swing and the outcome could be very different, they say they want reform then the president goes out and makes statements like "we need to be more like Australia and the UK" I get the distinct impression you enjoy the debate not because you care one way or the other but because you enjoy the banter and poking the stick in an attempt to get a rise......................From what I can see you have drawn no line in the sand. I live in a completely different way I dont believe in the gray area's I choose a side and reside there

  35. Democracy, meaning the popular will of the people? As you are well aware we live in a republic, so in what way more democratic? I agree with you 100% My direction on that would be campaign finance reform, curtail special interests and PACs and start becoming a country of ideas again, not a campaign money merry go round. Hard to be very democratic when you have 30% voter turnout. That means 16% are making the election decision. What if you made it a crime not to vote, or provide a tax credit of some amount as a carrot rather than a stick. Of course seniors are going to be dead set against that.

  37. OK, so go ahead and tell me that this forum is going to allow someone to accuse our government of being terrorists and complicit of the mass murder of thousands of our citizens on 9-11? Obviously this poster didn't have a family member, friend or co-worker murdered on that day, nor apparently have they ever served in our military or have anyone close that currently serves. Disgusting low life loser.

  46. Rubbed and refrigerated overnight. Cook it low and slow. Has to get the faux cambro treatment. The most important part of the process is choosing a good cut to start with. Pick it up and wiggle it. The loosest brisket wins. So much depends on the actual piece of meat itself. I prefer oak but any combo of hardwoods will work, but the traditional Texas brisket is done with oak. Why? Because there is more oak here than anything else, and mesquite burns too hot and fast. I have had good success with a mustard coating then adding spices before placing in the smoker. Personally, I think brisket is the hardest cut to master. One additional side note, Texans don't do burnt ends.
