  2. I'm a recovering home body guys but planning on Rodney's retreat in April. Going to sister's house in the NC mountains this weekend and know already I will be glad to be back home Joe says he is a third wheel but I'm going to twist his arm till he talks to me. I can probably get him going by saying all DACs sound the same. Jake wandered again this morning and I rode the neighborhood in shorts and flip flops looking for him. Chilly ride at 50 degrees on the bike. LF playing tennis. Rode to the courts in her spiffy new golf cart. Anyone who can't get enough audio talk and are members of FB there are numerous subgroups there. JC Phono Works, Open Reel & Cassette, Vintage Open Reel, Vinyl Discoveries.......and many more. 3. Yes I will miss him but it was not how it looked, although it looked pretty bad. What happened was he did that same thing about fifteen minutes earlier and I was in shock. Then apparently my wife told him to do it again so she could video it, I didn't know she was using her phone to make a video. Roy snuck up and did it the second time, it was more of a shock than the first time. Within 2 minutes Roy and my wife was busy posting it, they couldn't wait, Roy told me "he was going to make me famous for all the wrong reasons", Funny how wives will incite these adventures you have obviously learned over the years to ignore the abuse and it goes away quickly. That was a BIG lesson one needed in the Military and in construction, show 1 ounce of frailty and they pounced non stop It really looked like a great time between great friends, I really hope my SCHIIT settles b-4 the next gathering, if it does I would love to attend (and I am someone that absolutely hates crowds, wont go to most parties always felt like a 3rd wheel) I tried to ignore it but was reminded of it regularly for days, it was all in fun but still shocking. I have known Roy for a bunch of years now as many here, and no one would have expected him of all people to go through with a joke like this, I guess that's why it worked so well. I would tell you and anyone interested in going to just go, you will have fun and be relaxed in a place where you "almost" can't get thrown out. To give you an idea, this weekend there were 4 stacks of KP 600's cranked up well into the mornings, and this is serious power, I think we scared the cows to the other side of the property.

  4. Morning Gang 80s+ projected and very dry. I believe a farm run is the order of the day. Detel is back, a good thing. Bay purchases coming in daily, great projects lining up. LED bulbs are pretty close to being dialed in as far a natural lighting goes, all are made in China and iv been buying them for a couple years just a bulb now and then, testing/burnin/pricing. The reason for bringing this up is, look at the Bay pricing/shipping and at @2.37 for a bulb w/free shipping this cannot be beat. Almost have the entire house converted to LED, and it does make a big change in the power bill. Next time you go to the local home store, take a look at their live display of "Lit Bulbs" observe the one you like a make a note of it. shop the Bay for killer pricing/free shipping from China. Time for the third Cup-0-Joe Duggans enhanced.

  5. Happy Wednesday all. Rainy chilly day out here ... not expected to go over 50. Warmer later in the week. Plan on doing some jammin' with a guitar bud this afternoon. Been a long time. Welcome home Eldon!! It's always nice to get off the road. Spent most of my work life in travel jobs. Cheers, folks.

  7. Good Morning Ya'll. Nice mid 70's on the drive into work. Looks like 80% chance of rain today and more the rest of the week. We could use it here. Time to get through some emails and get my work day started. Be good and if you can't be good, be careful.

  9. But you are now the generation, it's the way it works. My parents are gone so for the younger people in our family I am now the oldest, not that I could replace anyone or would want to, it's just the way things go. No one get's out alive, memories, it's why we have them I guess to remember and respect the one's before us. Your probably more normal than you think, you just had some terrible luck at times. Memories are real

  12. I'm like that a lot. I could tour around forever. But coming home is nice too. Hey Steve, have you seen Ann and Nancy on the tv show The Interview? It's on AXSTV, an hour long. It's hosted by Dan Rather. It's very good, and new for 2015.

  13. Afternoon y'all Not much going on.....nice day at the shop....got some good work....and I finally think I have fixed this Mazda 6......this thing has been driving me nuts. The used car guys sold it a few weeks ago. The girl brought it back saying the alarm would go off. Well I am not the Mazda "guru"...... but I think I got it....a bad L/R door latch.....so far sa good, has not gone off for a few hours... So I'm getting ready to crest the "1000th" post..... I'm gonna try and make it a good one....might even start a thread.....I don't know....just been thinking about it....gotta get my words of wisdom together..lol lol OK guys....have a great day..... MKP :-)

  14. That was fantastic Bill! I think it's great that you post so much info on Atmos. It's especially valuable to this forum because you have firsthand experience with it. I feel like I initiated this bantering (although it was not my intent). I was just legitimately wondering if you worked for Klipsch or Atmos. Don't worry about the naysayers....you just continue to enjoy Atmos and share you passion with everyone. Those that do not appreciate the passion can move onto another thread. Pretty simple.

  15. Well.....my Cornwalls didn't have any takers so I'm gonna throw some chum in the waters and see what happens (yes - I still got the Cornwalls). OK - here's the deal. I've got a couple of pieces of DVD audio gear that I'm never gonna use and I want them GONE but to go to a good home. So for the price of shipping, they are...... Are you ready for this??? FREE! Here's the catch (there's always a catch, right??) - you name what you want and you can ONLY GET ONE (don't be greedy), you pay shipping, you get the item, and then YOU decide what it's worth to you and you send that to me. If it's $20 or $2 or a thank you card or a picture of your dog (sorry - don't like cats) or whatever. And if you feel compelled to send me flowers, I prefer Tulips or yellow roses. But you gotta send me something or else Karma will see to it that you loose all your hair. This sounds like a joke but I'm serious. This stuff needs to go!!!!!!!!! Email me at td3adams@centurylink.net. So here's your choices: Denon DVD-2900 or Denon DVD-5000. Here's the DVD's

  19. Trying my first cup of cheap Aldi beans, this time it's Honduran free trade medium roast. It's a mellow cup, a little more mellow than I am used to. Maybe next time I'll up the dose. Great tip on the bulbs mark. Carl, what is your kwh cost down there?

  21. I love going out of town also but in most cases at some point I am perfectly fine coming back home, we have been gone a lot over the summer so I am ready for some time home. i’m glad you like “home” that’s a good thing. just another way how i’m messed up. my life has been kinda weird. I did always feel like I was going home when i went back to Oakland; but, now that my Aunt died a few months ago (she took me in when i was 8 after my parents died) i feel like that link to “the normal me" is gone. She was the last of that generation--now my family just seems like a history book.

  26. It's more like non-Atmos, Atmos is pretty cool but there may be bigger priorities, and one super Atmos fanboy. See there you go (as usual) you gotta (try) and insult me. Shows where you priorities are. btw... not insulted & never implied I was the only one who.... whatever you said attributed to me above. This is a speaker forum, the Home theater section of a speaker forum. Atmos is fantastic. Who would have thought one couldn't express that.

  29. Ditto! So what is a fella/gal would like a little help and is not accustomed to navigating around this site? Ask away I say! Those newbies will get the hang of it eventually and hopefully continue to come back, just like I did. Belittling another accomplishes nothing. A little compassion and guidance is beneficial and can certainly make lifelong changes in a person.

  33. One of mine is the Interactive Brokers ad with two gents fly fishing....one giggling about the "fan-tas-tic" week he had trading. I think of fly fishing as a chance to get away from it all. I also don't want to be fishing 40 feet from another guy talking about hedge funds. Next would be the Invesco ad where 4 people follow you around all day all talking at the same time. I always mute that one. Hate it so bad I tried to write Invesco to tell them how bad it is

  34. If you have several 4ft fluorescent lights around your house/shop/etc you might consider this option. LED replacements are being made that bypass your ballast, use less energy, and put out more light. I'm considering buying this lot and retrofitting my 4fters to LED. Simple wiring change is required (as explained in this ad) that bypasses the ballast. Check it out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151782700869?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

  35. I got a bunch of LED bulbs a few months ago (GE) when they went on sale at Target. Finally hit a price point I could live with. Color is decent but there is a very slight buzz so I can't have them installed where they are more than 4 or 5 feet from my ears. Not going near my main audio setup for sure. Also, 3 months in and I already had one go bad. I saved the receipt but now can't find it... So much for 5 year warranty.

  40. Relax folks. We are all passionate about something. Nismo just happens to be passionate about Atmos at the moment, and that is okay. Scrappy is passionate about pro cinema speakers and DIY subwoofers, and that is okay. I just made a killer meatloaf and am currently passionate about that, and that too is okay. Bill

  42. Well, I'm only an hour from that place and it's a good thing that I don't have any $$$. I'm still wiping up the saliva on the keyboard from seeing all of those tubes. I showed them to my wife in the hope that I'd see a positive indication- her reply: "you're not going!" Maynard

  44. Late to the discussion. I first heard Khorns in 1977, dreamed about them for decades and finally got a used set last year. I am listening to them near field with a 45wpc push pull tube amp and a very nice tube preamp. I could not be happier. Yes there are many hot rod ways to go and Jubes are fantastic. At 59 I have chased the dream of always looking in someones back yard and wishing I were there (the grass is greener etc) Do your research, make a choice and enjoy. The biggest lesson I have learned is once you find something that makes you very happy, STOP LOOKING LOL
