  6. Are you sure you are not still in bed Dreaming, or in some otherwise hallucinogenic state of mind ? sadly ... no. Out of here at 2 today and don't return until the 23rd. business trip. I need to seriously start setting a date for quitting this gig. There are no promotions to be had and i'm maxed out on the payscale--so i just get more work with no additional compensation. sitting in a meeting yesterday, i suggested something...no response. Then the higher ups start looking into whether something is feasible--it was, and it was the very thing i suggested. My boss hits me in the arm and nods his head as if saying "you were right." I finally just told everyone, "whenever you hear a good idea, remember that i thought of it five minutes before that."

  7. When the wife and i made our McM fetchin run to St Louis in june, we got as far as Nebraska, wellsfargo called and ask where we were, i told them "Traveling", again they ask where we were, i then told them i did not know what state i was in forsure, they said unless i could identify where i was wile talking to them they were shutting down the ATM debit card, planning on using "The Card" at the Pub we were in, i yelled out, hey! (What state are we in?) Someone yelled Cornhusker! wells fargo hung up on me! They then called the wifes phone and ask the same, by then we had the "Correct Anser" Id rather have them call before they wack the card, at least they appear to be on top of things. Note to self: let the bank know when we travel.......

  10. coffee from 7-11 is tasting horrible. traffic was worse. roads within our facility being repaved, so that screws up parking. blew out a tire yesterday; but, thank God i was only 20 minutes from my nephews tire shop, so i got a new tire at a great discount. The place was jam packed and he takes my car right in...i don't know if any customers noticed; but, if they did they didn't say anything. Then my credit union declined my bank card because "i was out of town." I guess they haven't heard that we're allowed to travel these days. Twice this has happened to me, i appreciate their security; but, i think that is a bit ridiculous. I was only 100 miles from home--if the charges were from the other side of the globe, ok question those; but, can't some common sense come into play here. 100 miles away isn't that far. Last summer they did the same thing to me on my trip up to Northern California. I was about 200 miles from home, stopped to eat, and my card was declined. Have to spend time on the phone trying to get them to approve the charges and not to do it again. I told them, "I'm out of town and going to be using this card a lot. please allow it." it's my credit union--said i will change; but, a co-worker told me that most banks do the same thing now days.

  12. So UPS is what happened to Carl's toaster ... not surprising. All this toaster talk is making me hungry. Temps seem to be trending up a bit on our side of the continental divide and we should be rid of our snow in the next day or so. Meantime, Baxter is having a blast and we are back into foot drying mode when he comes in. This will be a good day to play some tunes and 'tune-up- for a jam tomorrow. Cheers.

  13. I see that AB InBev acquired SABMiller. Seems somewhat incestuous also involving Coors and Molson. Apparently people like yours truly who drink one or, at most, two craft beers at a sitting, rather than many Buds like the old days, have cut into beer sales in US. The article I read said that China accounts for 25% of the world's beer consumption, so the market focus is shifting east. Perhaps this afternoon I'll down one of the Leinenkugel's (owned by SABMiller) Oktoberfests I purchased for guests who don't enjoy craft brews. That's as close as I can get to a Bud or Miller Lite. Have a great day.

  14. I get that crapp with some of my parts orders. My orders are placed priority/overnight, but UPS has my shop listed a residential address and they will not change it. My wife can track the shipping from my supplier....if I need the parts in the AM...she will go out and hunt the UPS truck down. Over the years a few of the drivers have given us there cell number and we can call them to see were they are. It is what it is sometimes... MKP :-)

  18. Roger, I don't worry as much about who is wearing the pants as I do who is not wearing pants and why. Your comments would not help my cause. The better lay thing might encourage more effort and pay dividends. The absolutely better looking part would serve no useful purpose in the little world I live in. As for my speakers, I am using the AB cross over and they sound just great (enough). The AL's have been sent to a good home so I wont get to burn them. I figure if I do anything with the x overs, I will do it up right (eventually) I am really getting a kick out of these speakers. I have them hooked up in the plant and everyone has gotten to hear them (whether they wanted to or not) and are very impressed with them. Mike

  24. Amazing what a little rearranging and tweaks can do. My situation is now much better but that is not to say I'm not still looking to upgrade components. Here is what I did. Moved the SW-112 to the left front position. Turned both subs (SW-112 and R-115SW) all the way up to the LFE setting (to at least 125Hz) and set the gains (volume) to about halfway. In the Yamaha settings, I changed my RF-82ii fronts to "small 60Hz" and all other speakers to "small 80Hz." Also have both the subs at mono for now. These adjustments alone definitely brought out the midrange or what I call brilliance of the speakers ... almost too much. I also must confess, and was remiss in not saying this before, that today was the first time I had the chance to really crank up my system since installing the Emotiva XPA-7 external amp. Wow! I was able to play both music and blu-ray at much much louder levels without any harshness or distortion. Blu-ray War Horse was awesome as ever except the explosions, thundering horses, etc. were more balanced in the room. With CD, Cat Stevens' Hard Headed Woman really produced both intense highs and thundering kick drums, especially from the 115SW. Even the CD of Tom Jones (don't laugh, its got great orchestral background) jumped out of my speakers when he sang Delilah. Will try some Vivaldi and Beethoven next ... at both high and low levels. I have used the YPAO in the past but it wants to nearly hush my system entirely, forcing me to have to crank up the volume to suit me. Thus I had to manually increase the gains on several speakers quite a bit. Perhaps with the Emotiva power in play now, YPAO might give me a different result, expecially with moving that sub. I'm also not beyond hiring someone to professionally calibrate my system but I would want to hold off on that until I have all my future pieces in play. Until I upgrade speakers, I must thank all of you who have helped so much in getting my current system up to expectations.

  27. I just sent the seller this message "Hello, I find your description totally misleading and an attempt to scam, this is not a klipsch item any longer and it certainly is not manufacturer refurbished, I fully intend to notify Ebay and attempt to have this erroneous advertisement removed I noticed the wordplay where you attempt to hide the fact that you are advertising a klipsch product and then quantify the fact that you have replaced the speakers with Pyramid by a professional This does not equal manufacturer refurbished and is a clear attempt to mislead. I have also notified Klipsch of you fraudulent actions as it is a gross misuse of there copyrighted name and model "

  31. Duh. What I said was that an increase in minimum wage has a minimum impact on the final price of anything. If you recall, I was in the drilling business so I am more than a little aware that unemployment happens when prices go down. However, I challenge anyone to suggest that the price of gasoline would shoot up if every convenience store in the nation suddenly paid 20.00 an hour to their clerks. These people are a miniscule part of the cost of doing business. The chain from the wellhead to the gas pump includes almost nobody making remotely that little. Spread it out over cost increase in the corny dogs, beer, slushes, whatever they sell besides gas in the cost would be insignificant and hardly noticed. In fact, I recall on a consulting job that back in the 80s the average tenure of a clerk at 7-11 was like six weeks and the company was out more to acquire and train them than they were paid in the entire term of employment. Even at the time it occurred to me that maybe if they were paid a decent wage you might double that time and it would cost nothing given you'd at least get your investment back. I am certainly open to someone suggesting that the "good life" most of us Klipsch forumites live is somehow dependent on keeping the minimum wage low and why that is the right approach. I just don't see it. Our biggest, most desirable, and durable items are not produced by minimum wage people. By and large the output of the low salary people in this country is stuff we can live without entirely and probably should. Dave

  34. I have to get a darn cassette player now and see what some of these sound like, They came from his estate it was said he submitted a book for publish. I could not find out anything about that The guy at the sale told me he would talk for hours, He shared a short story about his youth Mr. Bailey (heretofore referred to as BB) was an Orphan. BB shared a story of being raised in the orphanage, they had a dirt field next to the orphanage. Passers bye would throw change from there car into the field, The children had assigned locations and would take a piece of window screen and sift the dirt looking for the change. I assume to support the orphanage.............After leaving the orphanage BB served 48 years in the USArmy There must be quite the story on these tapes to unfold

This beauty is so quiet, and runs so cool, you don't even know it's on...and although it sounds awesome, one of the drawbacks is that you don't know that it's on....no lights, no on/off switch...it comes on when you plug it in...strange but true. I had to read the owners manual about 3 times to make sure I wasn't missing something....Super clean, super nice...I'm happy with my first Mac piece....

  44. I disagree, for the last 3.5 years of the 5.5 years my wife and I dated, I had another girlfriend. They both knew about each other and I even got the three of us together The main reason I chose my wife in the end was that the other woman would not let me discipline her children and I was not going to be supporting her kids with no say in the bullshit they pulled! By the way, the one I kicked to the curb was absolutely better looking and by far the better lay... Roger I hit the like button only because there isnt a LOVE button! 45. So, you've got two people working at the same company: 1. Somebody who goes to college, studies their butt off, climbs the corporate ladder, dedicates a large part of their life to an organization, actually offers a significant tangible return on investment, and otherwise relentlessly works their butts off trying to keep everything together and the wheels churning at the company. They have sacrificed a ton to get to where they are. 2. "You want fries with that?" Your idea of fairness seems to be that these guys should be paid the same. I would like to see training, education, and jobs for the person frying fries and flipping burgers so they can move to a better job and make room for the person trying to make their way through college (or whatever they are working towards) while frying fries and flipping burgers. Trying to force the pay higher doesn't help either individual in the end. Companies can offer paths of entry and individuals who are willing and able can forge their own paths as well. There is a certain percentage who are UNABLE to take care of themselves. There is a certain percentage who are UNWILLING. As a society I would like to take care of the UNABLE. As a society I would like to "encourage" the UNWILLING to become willing or be allowed to wither away. I can see some gray areas in between so it isn't that simple. It seems hard to help the UNABLE without letting some of the UNWILLING to sneak through.

  46. This is a very telling statement about how you perceive the rich. I notice you made no reference to dedication. I know many very rich people who work 'round the clock. Whether it's on the phone, in a boardroom, on a private jet, or from their bed. Sure, they aren't digging a ditch, but that's because their too smart for that. But also, it isn't because they are more devious or crooked.
