  1. If you take your time, you can perform miracles. Here is an old Fisher I did. Before: After: I have done this with lots of different units, but this was the most drastic restoration.

  2. Morning all..... Grandkids on the bus...... 2nd cup going down Well what should have been a 5 hr round trip turned into a over 9 hr nightmare drive There was construction and accidents on the Bay Bridge both ways. We got to the house were the KP's were. The lady I spoke with was out to dinner with her family cuz we were so late getting there. They got back at 7 so we waited about an hour for them. They looked better in the pic and the description was "good condition" ahhhhh not so.... I also was unable to test them cuz they had 1/4" speaker connection on them. I figured they had reg speaker cable and "pro" connections on them like my other KP's. So all the crapp I brought to test them I could not hook up. Her husband was not there so she had no clue were she could look for his gear. We found all kinds of cables and gear but it was a mess. So after 45 minutes of looking through crapp I said look I didn't drive 4+ hours to go home empty handed..... I'll give ya $100 bucks for em..... she said her husband would not take $100..... So looked through some more crapp with no luck. I'm like OK it wasn't ment to be..... So I said I'm going to split and we shook hands and on the way out I said I would do a Buck Twenty..... she said no.... OK..... So The BOSS and I leave. About ten minutes into our drive home the lady calls the cell phone and told me her husband would take $120 for em if I still wanted them and they would bring them to us.... So I thought for a minute and said "OK"..... They met us at a gas station with my ratty old KP-320's...... well I've seen worse.... hey it's a roll of the dice... We got home around midnight..... I'll mess around with them later after we get home from the shop..... Maybe I should have stayed home and do yard work Will report later on how they sound....... MKP :-)

  3. Mornin' all. Hey Mark .. hope those KP's work out for you. That was quite a trip to get them. Not a lot to report here other than a really crummy weather report. They're even talking about possible hail. Nasty stuff and we get it once in a while around this time of year. Need to put a plastic bubble over the house and yard. Hang in there folks and have a good Monday.

  4. What is curious to me is this person who the FBI is watching for two years suddenly buys a gun and ammunition legally and a bell doesn't go off in the FBI bureau-ocracy? Or a memo is put in the box on the desk of the guy who is sup[posed to ring the bell? Or does it go before a committee whose members are on vacation? JJK

  5. I'm just completely baffled by some of the replies here. We are being systematically attacked by one of the largest and deadliest terrorist groups in history, they've even brought the fight to American soil, they just killed 50 Americans, in America, not in some desert somewhere but here at home and some of the suggestions being offered here are to take away our guns?

  12. Again. Cars are mainly used for transportation and no one is articulating getting rid of them. Guns on the other hand were developed for killing and the one in question was developed for the military to kill a lot of people...Bringing a car to a gun fight makes as much sense as driving a gun to the supermarket. I'm curious. Don't you find it a bit perplexing that a tool developed for killing is being out-killed by a tool developed for transportation but that the public outrage is directed at the tool designed to kill? The gun after all, is doing what it was designed to do. The transportation tool is malfunctioning or being used incorrectly. But the outrage is muted? I'm off topic though. And I'm convinced that the mere mention of guns on these forums is against moderator policy. I've personally been cut short on the subject in a previous thread. The fact that this thread has lived this long delving into the various banned subjects is perplexing to say the least.

  17. Hey Neil, I'm a good drive from Alexandria VA. Unfortunately I don't know any shops down south of me that far. I do think your on the right track.... I would say most front end "clunking" turns out to be front sway-bar end links. Even in my small shop I do a set of front end links about once a week. They start making noise in cars that have around 100K or so. MKP :-)

  19. Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I'm usually posting and lurking over on PE TT. I saw an ad on CL for a pair of Epic CF3s, I had never heard of them before, so after doing some research , I went and picked them up, they were a little rough, need to be refinished, but the drivers are spotless, and after listening to them for a few minutes, I was very willing to give the guy $400 for them. I'm not sure if they are series two or three, gotta find my inspection mirror to check the wiring, the SN has faded to the point that it is no longer legible. Either way, they do sound nice. Tomorrow I'll get them hooked up to my system, can hardly wait. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Incompetence. Plain and simple in my view. The answer will be to throw more money at the incompetence. That is how incompetent power fixes any problem, by refusing to acknowledge their own incompetence and instead blame 'not enough resources.' Remember also, the NSA is collecting all the phone records and electronic data for practically every American. Computers listening for keywords and flagging anything for review that is suspicious. Or so they say? Perhaps they are...but perhaps they aren't flagging keywords that terrorists would be using? Otherwise, how can they explain San Bernadino, Boston, and now Orlando? Regardless, billions upon billions being spent every year for the past 15 years all in the name of fighting terrorists. We are removing our shoes and belts at airports and women being physically searched and touched. We are actively being forced to surrender our 4th amendment rights. But it doesn't seem a single incident of terrorism has been thwarted by these incompetent boobs.

  25. Perhaps there is an agenda? I don't have proof - nobody does - but people can see it. You need only look at the history of their responses every time something like this happens. Only this time, it is becoming glaringly obvious. Your post describes perfectly the illogical response of our political leader(s) over this latest incident. They can carefully disguise their responses to similar domestic incidents to call for more gun control and the people will be none the wiser. Over time, with enough incidents that fit their political agenda, they can become successful. This time, anyone with a careful eye will see what you have seen: we have now had (at least) a 3rd terrorist attack on our soil from a foreign enemy that has openly stated they want to do us harm and kill our people and the response from our president after one of these successful attacks is that we need more gun control. A response that is ludicrous; misses the mark; irresponsible; politically motivated. He'll still use these dead and broken bodies to further a political ideology, because they are opportunists. But it is at least easier to see what he/they truly are: at the very least anti-American, for attempting to dismantle a bedrock Right of the American people. Even now, after suffering an attack from a foreign enemy, the opportunistic democratic presidential candidate is calling for a reinstatement on the ban of 'assault rifles.' Sorry, the proper response to a foreign attack on your soil is not to dismantle one of the rights your country was founded on. And people vote for these candidates? She couldn't be further from the mark if she tried! What constitutionally grounded government directly and consistently attacks one of the guaranteed Rights claimed for the citizenry at every opportunity and can still be deemed Patriotic? What individual supports these people and still claim they themselves are patriotic?

  26. Speakers beat yard work every time. Alas, for me it was yard work. On the up side, I did find a check slid into my front door. I have told you about mowing my neighbors yard, which I have done on multiple occasions. Well, he heard from a mutual neighbor that it was me and left me a check for $200. Unexpected money is always nice.

  27. I haven't seen the speakers in person, but if they are as nice looking in person as I think they are, I wouldn't do anything but rephotograph them. The top of the speaker on the right looks fantastic. I have looked at every single picture, and in every case, the top looks bad where the direct sunlight is reflecting off them. I would simply avoid the direct sunlight reflections. Neither of the speaker dog houses look right. Some experimentation with lighting and objects leaning in them or photograph angle would improve the detail of the point. A video of them operating may be a good way if you pan around while they are playing then the reflections of the point would move in a way which would give the proper perception that there is a mirror finished point.

  31. Some handguns also incorporate visual cues to help determine if a round is chambered. Another safety feature designed into firearms. Realistically, transportation is designed for transportation and not designed to kill. Yet, it out-kills the tool designed to kill. But (and here is where it gets interesting) because society isn't programmed to hate transportation as it is being programmed to hate firearms, there is no outrage. And excuses are subconsciously offered to validate the inconsistency, in order to affirm the programming. It really is that simple.

  32. I believe the optical illusion is the undoing of this sale attempt. You should photograph them again and relist them with all new pictures which clearly show the doghouse is indeed intact. Delete all the old pictures. Also, the high gloss reflection of the top looks nice, but shows every single little flaw. I would avoid that. I am sure these are beautiful speakers in person. I think your pictures need to convince others of that.

  38. My friend is building a new house and asked me to help him build a system. He sent me a link today about this complete system he found in Virginia (he's in Florida). His wife knows the family so that's good. He asked me if it was a good deal. I did some quick research on pricing and sent him this. Projector selling for $1800 new (can't find any used pricing) Screen - $1000 (hard to tell cause we don't know the model) Denon Receiver - $350 - $500 Klipsch RF-62ii - $300 Klipsch RC-62ii - $250 Klipsch RS-42ii - $200 Sub - $200 - $300 New So let's say.... $1500 - Projector $1000 - Screen $350 - Denon $750 - Klipsch Speakers $200 - Sub $3800 Total I told him "It would be a great system no doubt. Sub might be a bit weak but you can always upgrade that down the road. Looks like a pretty current system though. If it were me, and I was interested in the system, I would offer him $3500 cash today." He would also need to add maybe $400 in travel cost. So that system would put him at around $4000. IMO, the RF-62 and the sub are going to be the weak link. He really wants an RF7 system so I told him if he is patient, we can build it over time and he said he is willing to do that. I tend to only look at Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota and Lakeland Craigslist so if you guys see something, let me know.

As a follow up, the wife knows everything at this point. The cash, the speakers, the intent, she's good with it all. She realizes that I like what I like. And if it makes me happy, she's happy. And vice-versa. I bought RF-7IIs - they are being shipped later this week and I am giddy with anticipation. Thanks all for your input.

  40. Your either ignorant or an idiot. Nothing personal. Whatever efforts you have made to study the issue have been made in vain. You might what to consider a reliable source for facts rather than email blasts or whatever else you are using to "study". Yep, I checked. Neither and idiot or ignorant. You can disagree with me, it is after all a free, or sort of free country that we live in. You can look up everything I posted online and fact check them if you like. Of course nobody inside is going to tell you the facts if it undermines those in power. Mark my words, in a few years after Obama leaves office he will boast of being a Muslim and how he helped to change the world and bring people together. Yes, he is that arrogant. Just like his mentor in the WH. She is an Iranian born woman that has felt the plight of Muslims her entire life. Do you really believe that the president is unaware of the challenges that ISIS/ISIL present to us in the west? He has downplayed all of their actions at every chance. He lies every time he opens his mouth. Once again, if you disagree with me, it's okay as I am not offended. You can believe whatever you like. I do not hate Muslims for what they believe, in fact they are steadfast in their beliefs, as wrong as they might seem. Very few Christians or others of faith stand true to their beliefs like the Muslims do. I believe the lawyer was right. Your problem is that you are unable to grasp fact (nuance). The world is not fighting a religion. The fact that terrorists associate themselves with a religion does not mean that their actions represent the religion, no more than a professed Christian bombing a PP center makes the bombing an action of Christianity. Globble GW's thoughts on the matter. The Iranian you spoke of was born there of American parents. Read up on that. Basically you are ignorant of what you have posted as fact here. Keith

If they don't subsatantially emulate Christ in their thoughts and actions, they AINT Christians. READ THIS AGAIN. Thank you, Lars The white supremacist I am with you on but if you don't think Christianity wasn't spread by the sword you may want to research your History books. Granted, Christ could have guided Constantine's hand but I think from that time forward it wouldn't have survived without the sword and battles in his name. EDIT Note: I am not anti-Christian or Muslim and admit the latter is harder to make the case for being a "peaceful religion" in the first decades that opened this millennium.
