  4. --- Good Gawd man - not only have I just spit-up in my mouth but with that in mind, Carl taking a backseat to this years martini shaking might be a welcomed change ---

  5. SOMEtimes I just go with my gut and listen to HIM! I found that out LONG ago... Today was truly one of those days: Almost 12k graduating from THEE OSU, yup 5 rows abreast coming in from both sides at the South end of the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio... Marissa where are you??? "Just coming in the South end tunnel Dad" But WHERE? WHICH SIDE??? No reply... The ranks were breaking up and spreading out all over the North end of the stadium finding their seats. Then a couple minutes later I look down the steps and BOOM! She was as suprised as I was! CONGRATULATIONS TO MY BUCKEYE! You GO BUCKS girl!!! DONE & EARNED! (Don't ask about the future... Last time I did she said she was flying to LA to talk about a job. I DO know she spent a couple days at Coachella! HAHAHA!!!)

  10. It would actually leak out from under the commode when you flushed it. When the commode was pulled you could see where the lead pipe was split. The cheapest estimate he got was $800. I asked him why he was getting estimates. Lol. This cost about $200 with the biggest expense being the blade he had to buy for the rented concrete saw.

  16. Put this lp up a few months ago. It deserves more time for all of us on the heavy rock diet! These guys are mathematically relentless and inventive. This Queens of the Stoneage singer Joshua Homme is a great singer! OK I give, up at 2:00 on the volume pot...... no clipping.... but I've got to move these Forte IIIs out of this little room. They need to be about 16 inches out from the corners for kidney stone crushing volume levels. Thanks @dirtmudd I'll stick with the filtered water

  20. Ok, going over to daughters house and bring some Forte's, Spud sub, receiver and BR player. They use a computer for music now, this should be a little better.

  23. Oh OK, I figured it was leaking inside. Those blades are not cheap but it's alot easier than trying to drill a bunch of holes and chipping it out or other crazy ways. $800 doesn't surprise me, but this way you know it's fixed.

  24. Rough week of kidney stone blockage for 36 hrs twice. Hopefully they're all gone for now. Spongetones, Firehouse, Antiseen. Think Nantucket was the only other rock band that had actual radio play around the country. This hometown band had a record I actually bought! the George Hatcher Band

  34. I was thinking the same thing at first and usually agree with Diz, but then I saw the fabric you picked. It might work and look cool & unique. Since you already bought the fabric, you should at least mock something up and see. What 'cha got to loose? They are looking great by the way.

  35. Picked up a Marantz nr1605 for now. Sound is improved and I’ve got the features I was looking for., plus options to pre-out and/or multi-channel down the road. I was worried the Marantz would be a downgrade in sound from the Pioneer Elite. It’s not, and I love the low profile. Plan is to save and eventually invest in a good power amp to run the Forte IIs. My current budget would have resulted in too many compromises trying to get it all done at once. Forte IIs sound amazing. Gonna save my Quartets for home theater rears if my living situation changes and I have a bigger room to work with. Thanks again!

  36. +1 on that post. I’m not opposed to their use on tweeters. I use fixed L-pads for those who request them (though I prefer Al’s autoformer based tweeter attenuator). I also still build a network that uses the swamping resistor on the autoformer, which allows for on the fly midrange adjustment - a useful feature for those who are using different horns and drivers. For stock configurations, I prefer the unadulterated Type AA. This just seemed like an interesting discussion to participate in. If I’d know it was going to get nasty - I would have drank more Boubon.

  38. I had to review to recall why that “V” shaped opening is there. Gotta love those Speakon connectors. I use them on all my speaker builds. They’re especially cool on these pro-look La Scalas, plus, they satisfy the requirement to include a product of Liechtenstein in each project.

  40. I'm watching the Rock and Roll HOF 2018 show. First up was The Cars, they played 3 songs, I didn't know Ben Orr passed away. Dire Straits was next, Mark Knopfler wasn't there, and they did not play....kind of a bummer. I doubt I'll stay up to watch Bon Jovi.

  42. We'll flush cut it then use a floor flange that glues inside the 4 inch pipe. If you want to use a flange that glues on the outside of the pipe you wrap the pipe with cardboard then pull the cardboard out after the cement dries. It leaves a void for the hub of the flange.

  43. One day I was minding my own business and decided it was time to eat. We live in perilous times but I never expected this. I reached into the potato sack and my hand was almost savaged by a potato shark.

  44. JEEZ ... you LUCKY guy ... how come I never find bargains like that FYI, just picked up a JVC P-3030 preamp. Amazing ... have not hooked it up to my VTA ST70 tube amp, but tested it vs a Dynaco PAT-4 and a PAS-3 ... think it is much better. OK; who knows But you may want to check out some of these earlier preamps Cheers, Emile
