  3. Supplies were getting low on the front lines. Morale was low, panic was setting in. Today is a good day, reinforcements arrived. The troops are happy and I believe I can see a shine on their face.

  5. I just watched a really good documentary on Netfilx about ZZ Top. Worth watching. Made me want to play them. I saw them once back in the '70's. They kicked some serious blues/rock. The line up was Point Blank, Aerosmith, and ZZ Top. The only thing I really remember was the weird vibe that night and the number of fights that broke out in the crowd. Just one of those nights of Rock and Roll and whiskey. Good times. ZZ Top - La Futura. In 45 rpm.

  6. Well, I must confess Paul and friends. I decided to go into a COMPLETELY different direction and have totally moved on to a brand new high end audio system. After a lovely 12 years with my beloved Klipschorns and Dynaco tube gear, I have purchased a grand pair of Martin Logan ESL Classics in special order GLOSS black. The amp is a Parasound HALO 21 and the preamp is a matching Halo with Sabre DACs. It will decode the highest DSD and PCM resolution available. With the dynamic range of these unusual speakers couple to a 400 per ch. at 4 ohm amp, they produce a wall of sound that I never thought would rival the Klipschorns ! Thanks to one of the LAST brick and mortar audio stores in my area, I actually was able to listen to this system in a private showroom and fell in love. Here is the very first picture I have posted publicly on a Klipsch forum. Enjoy!

  7. Michael, thanks for the update. Please let us know any information that you can that comes your way. A very serious development, especially considering that Rudy was apparently in perfect health without major cardiopulmonary issues a couple of weeks ago, but likely he'll receive ventilator treatments to aid in recovery while there. If he were presently in NYC or New Orleans, it would be a completely different story. However as it is now in the local area (DFW), I believe that there is still hospital capacity to treat COVID-19. The local population has apparently self-isolated effectively to slow viral transmission rates, thus "flattening the curve". It's apparently difficult for some folks to understand why all the precautions are being taken but there are good reasons for the social and economic disruptions caused by the precautions currently being carried out--with perhaps more to come. Rudy is now our "poster child" for the face of this virus. Instead of harping on with morbid COVID-19 stories, let's keep Rudy entertained with good audio stuff on the forum--don't you think? I think he'll respond better to that. I know I would. It can help to lift the spirits. Prayers to Rudy and his family for a speedy recovery. Chris

  9. I carry a 3 oz spray bottle with 80% ethanol in my pocket at all times, even when at home (made by diluting Everclear from the liquor store). The spray bottle is the kind used to spray a fine mist for cleaning eye glasses. It provides good coverage without completely soaking the surface being sprayed. Pretty much anything that comes in from out of the household gets sprayed , especially cell phones. Door knobs get it pretty often too. Essentials that I need to pick up get sprayed down, except for things that can be washed like canned goods and bottles. I made an 80% ethanol solution that contains an aloe based gel for sanitizing hands.

  10. I had to run some errands yesterday, and one of the places was home depot. I had gloves and a mask on, trying to sort through and find some plumbing bits for the garden. Not sure if it was the extra equipment, forced breathing through the mask, or just being stressed around other people, but I was dripping with sweat the whole time. Anyone else going though that? I also observed that despite my best efforts, the ppe is nothing more than a facade at worst and at best a thinly veiled layer of protection if someone were to cough on me. The gloves were great for when I had to touch carts and product - but then I was having to wipe sweat off my face, adjust the mask, etc. Then it came to payment time and touching screens and scanners...and then digging in my pockets for cards or phone, which would then be contaminated by my gloved hands. Shit. I guess I could wear three or four layers of gloves and peel them off between each touch point? Presumably my n95 mask is ok until I encounter the virus and it becomes present on the mask surface. But how can I know? They're no longer available in stores, so I can't swap out like my box of gloves. I'm not actually paranoid about this, but going through the thought exercise of actually making the ppe effective shows that it's marginally helpful in our day to day efforts and home isolation is the only real solution. Morgan and the girls have been at home for two + weeks and I'm the only one going off the property at this point. I can get infected and likely pass it on before even realizing that I am, but at least it's minimizing the points of exposure in a fairly significant manner. I spend most of my day at work locked away in my office and am diligent when I utilize our public spaces within the building. Trying to keep store trips to a minimum, but even that proves difficult when trying to maintain levels of essential resources or activities back home.

  13. But much more incredible is the solo career of Sting. He has managed to produce intelligent world music and is for me one of the best solo musicians of our time. A true rock poet.

  18. Spring break could become what the ski-season did to Europa. Spring breakers will infect one another and then spread it even further in the US. In Belgium, 9 out of 10 deceased corona victims are: male, +65, history of cardio-vasculaire disease.

  24. Of course it is a matter of taste, I have the whole Police music collection, on other LP's there are also great music pieces on it, but the album "Regatta De Blanc" makes me feel more comfortable at most. I have also seen the group live once, they rock the stage and the masses freak out.

  27. Bro ...you´re driving me crazy ..... Loving your Police Collection .....and ..... The Fixx, I loved this band... Do you know the book by Roberto Gligorov? This has illustrated the songs of the first two solo albums by Sting. This book is an absolute rarity and very valuable today. A real treasure. I once took the trouble and photographed a few pictures of the song "Lazarus Heart" to give you an impression of this high-quality art. If you listen to these tracks and look at the illustrations, both artists, Sting musically and Gligorov visually, manage to fascinate a person so that you lose out of real time and real space and live for these moments in other worlds. Wonderful art.

  32. I don't want to speak for @Rudy81 in this scenario. I check in every few days via text to see how he's doing, but don't want to be burdensome. As of Wednesday night it sounded like more of the same and his spirits were high in light of the situation. I don't have any info beyond that.

  43. Good evening everyone, and hello to Paul ! It has been a L O N G time since I have posted here, mainly because I have been going through a CD library over the past months. HOWEVER, tonight I wanted to spin some vinyl once again and so, here are some posts from tonight's listening session. A Steely Dan newly released on 180 gram vinyl....

  44. @MicroMara You were not here a year or so ago when I finally landed a copy of that Regatta. Liked a couple off of that big one out then but that show with the Fixx (Reach The Beach) made me a fan of their funked up rockin reggae! Had already started building up their important to me ones and just could not find it at all for a decent price. Then this came out and someone at amazon must have bought a lot then was down to a couple left and dropped the price👌 Outlandos and Zenyatta are nice too, but yes RdB is more relaxed to me also. Take this: And then what Sting does to it Later! Blue Turtles is my fave by him, got it too! Did he hold back until he went solo? Or was it just happenstance that he tuned it into the latter?
