  1. And the beat goes on! Flat as a Pancake is the debut studio album by American rock band Head East. At first, the album was released independently on Pyramid Records. However, when radio stations began to play the song "Never Been Any Reason", A&M Records signed the band and re-released the album in June 1975.[2] It is Head East's only album to be certified Gold by the RIAA.

  3. It was an exciting day. Because I didn't have time to take care of the part-time bird, I put my daughter in charge of it. Not 2 hours later she called me....Dad the bird is gone, he escaped from the bird cage. But he is still flying from tree to tree on our property, we can identify him by his shrill sound signature. When I came home the weather changed, we had a very warm and sunny morning, it started to storm and hail. The bird was still outside. We were very worried and all 4 of us ran like crazy through the storm to save the bird. We did not succeed in finding it, although we heard it sneezing again and again. We had to go into the house, my wife was very worried, the storm left us no other choice. After about 2 hours the weather calmed down, we went outside and realized with relief that we could still hear the sneezing. After another short search we found him under a bush and brought him into the house. My children and wife, as well as myself, were really happy that he survived this storm without injury. Now he sits contentedly on our white-bellied hedgehog after he has filled his belly.

The album was released by Capitol Records in December 1974[1] and was the group's second album released that year. The first single from the album, "Some Kind of Wonderful", was released on December 16, 1974, and its follow-up, "Bad Time", was released on March 24, 1975.[3] A Quadraphonic mix of the album was available on the Quadraphonic 8-Track cartridge format.

  5. Xtension 10 turntable in great condition. The only flaws are swirl marks in the dust cover. No nicks, scratches or cracks. This table has an upgraded Cardas RCA junction box instead of the DIN connection on the bottom. Use your favorite RCA cable. I have the original record weight and an upgraded polished weight as seen in the picture, both are included. I have the crate and packing materials but am not entertaining shipping at this time because of the sheer weight of this thing. I am pricing it for local pick up or I’m willing to meet at a reasonable distance of 24502. Retail price 5000.00 Asking 1800.00 From the website: The Xtension 10 chassis is made from MDF filled with metal sand, that gives high mass and is non-resonant. Magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base, are combined with a weighty 22 kg total turntable mass. With these two magnets located in the feet, the turntable is practically floating. The result is a unique combination of ‘mass loaded’ and ‘floating turntable’ design principles. Instead of the old standard adoption of pure metal used for the main platter, we’ve found a perfect alloy which we damped on the inner side with Sorbothane®. Additionally we’ve glued recycled Vinyl records to the top (which act as a perfect mat) and bake this ‘sandwich’ before precision balancing it. The final product subsequently benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter, that runs ultrasilently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension. The Pro-Ject 10” Evolution with its tonearm base also benefits from ‘high-mass’ technologies, and is isolated from the main board by a sheet of Sorbothane® A DC-driven AC motor with a two-step pulley and electronic speed control maintains perfect pitch and rhythm resulting in inaudible wow & flutter. Further reducing noise and vibration is the isolated TPE mounting board for the 10″ carbon-fiber tonearm. The conical arm and integrated headshell are fashioned from a single piece of carbon fiber to avoid problems associated with standing wave reflections. Single-screw fixing of the armtube allows for easy azimuth adjustment if needed. The arm is fully adjustable for VTA

  7. Big Brother & the Holding Company w/Janis @ the wheel??? Gimme, gimme! Cheap Thrills is the second studio album by American rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. It was their last album with Janis Joplin as lead singer before she started a solo career. For Cheap Thrills, the band and producer John Simon incorporated recordings of crowd noise to give the impression of a live album, for which it was subsequently mistaken by listeners. Only "Ball and Chain" was actually recorded in concert at Winterland Ballroom.[1][2] Cheap Thrills reached number one on the charts for eight nonconsecutive weeks in 1968. One of the Top 10 EVAH! Here's the full album prove me wrong! Enjoy!

  8. Pie anyone? Smokin' is the fifth studio album by English rock band Humble Pie, released in 1972 through A&M Records. It was the band's international breakthrough, peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard 200 album chart,[2] and hit number 20 in the UK and number 9 in Australia.

  17. Ahahahaha you people really need to get out more. and use your ears. it's not that hard. Break-in: it's a fact. Put a brand new midrange driver diaphragm only on one channel, keeping the other driver old, and your stereo image will be skewed to a side for a few days, because the brand new diaphragm will be harsher. Then it will come back to normal. Same goes for the capacitors in your crossovers. Cables and power cables: you really can't tell until you haven't tried. No need to spend fortunes. Separates: oh come on now. While they don't ALWAYS offer better sound, they very often do, because there is less compromises being made specially at the lower end of the market. Using separates is usually a good idea. I could go on forever. You know, things have changed since the apparition of the "BS" button. Even at Klipsch...

  18. The Ultimate LSH* Amplifier/Loudspeaker AES article by O. Gadfly Hurtz mentioned by @ClaudeJ1: The quote from Carver, cited for the proposition in the article that to achieve greater sound quality you need to lower sensitivity. So here is PWK, sorry, I mean Mr. Hurtz, is addressing several people, including Carver and his mega Phase Linear amps, who are out there to justify why you need that power to have good sound, and addressing an amp as a "major breakthrough." This was in the AES Journal, a peer reviewed publication. This is how "bullshit" got addressed by PWK, you didn't get flashed a BS button, you got the puffery and claim of a major breakthrough that was merely equivalent to "milking a mouse" sent all across the world. When he spoke to the people in his field, they listened. I'm not sure how many other people in audio science would have been able to submit a satirical article to AES and have them publish it. "Milking A Mouse", another metaphor. PWK had so many metaphors they are referred to as Klipschisims. *Loud speaker and space heater

  21. Winner. VF-102 (my squadron) took the picture with a camera system that mounts to the bottom of an F-14 where one of the missiles typically goes. I "tasked" the photo lab to make an enlargement spanning 3 11x14 prints. I spent the better part of my 12 hour shift cutting, sanding, lining up the three photos and gluing it up. Today it would just be a couple of mouse click. Given everything that went into that photo it probably cost the taxpayers 10 grand. Just another fun day floating around the Med.

  30. So did anyone else have a chance to visit the Klipsch booth at Axpona? We bought our tickets 2 years ago (before Covid changed everything) and we were elated when we heard Klipsch was gonna show up. The official Jubs were awesome - great job @Chief bonehead Such a step up from the underground Jubs. I think the most notable thing for me is that Klipsch has finally done a good job with an electronic circuit - their past track record has been a bit underwhelming, but the active crossover they put together sounded really good. Or maybe I should say really transparent? It was something that never came to mind while listening, which I think is where you want things to be. I still wish there was a digital input and even better would be to include a music streaming service. Qobuzz was a major sponsor at Axpona so everyone was using that. I personally prefer Tidal because you can also use Tidal as a streaming source for DJ'ing...which I'm sure nobody here cares about, haha. Anyways, I really enjoy streaming Tidal from my Minidsp SHD and could totally see something like that built into this preamp, or digitally fed into this preamp. Regarding the speakers - finally a good bass horn. Whatever Roy did has resolved the issues that I felt plagued the Underground Jubs - or perhaps it's just the lower bandwidth that they operate over? If I had to nitpick, there was some coloration in the ~350Hz range that I think was probably the "tweeter" struggling a bit. Definitely a unique distortion signature somewhere down in that range, and I think it might have just been intermods from the huge bandwidth coming from the HF unit. Maybe some suspension breakup too? Not sure. It's most noticeable with snare and other percussive sounds, but again this is me nitpicking. The highs were quite good and effortless, and wide polars without that hashy breakup sound you get with drivers like the K69. Also gone was that honky conical coloration noticeable with the TAD drivers. One other thing to note....the official Jub did not sound bad with non-audiophile recordings. I've always felt speakers should be serving the source material, and I think that's one thing that differentiates these speakers from the rest of the Klipsch lineup. The band, Tool is probably produced better than most pop recordings, but there was no hesitation to crank it up and load the room. It's so addicting how loud the Klipsch stuff can go, and there was no sign of strain whatsoever. I know it's real popular on this forum to think good speakers make bad source material sound bad, but the new Jubilee demonstrates how that doesn't need to be the case. I think it's more true that bad source material reveals the flaws of the older speakers more noticeably than simpler audiophile music. Regarding the subwoofer range of the Jubilee...I know Roy says they go flat to 20Hz, but I'm not sure we were getting that in this room. The Jubilee was very impressive in the 30 to 40Hz range, but they didn't pressurize the room the way I've experienced from other dedicated subwoofer systems. However, low bass is so room dependent so it's probably not a fair assessment since this room was so much larger than most typical listening rooms - and the speakers were nowhere near the corners. I suppose it's also possible we were sitting in a room mode, but it didn't seem to change much when walking around the room so who knows. The important thing is that tubbiness I associate with folded horn bass bins is pretty much nonexistant. My only final thought is that the price is very confusing for me. I know a lot of people were saying the price should be higher, but then I think the higher price points would require slightly nicer finishes. I personally would prefer a lower finish quality that brought the speakers into a lower price bracket. I was actually gonna purchase a pair when I thought they were $16k for the pair, but it's actually closer to $16k each... I just don't make the kind of money that can justify that expense. Maybe there'll be a used market in the future? I was super glad to hear Klipsch has been selling several units. We need people buying new stuff to keep the industry alive. Anyways, just thought I'd leave a quick review. I wasn't expecting to get to hear the official Jubilee anytime soon and was enamored with the sound. I'd love to hear them in a proper listening room sometime since the hotel ballrooms are a different experience. I bet these sound even better in a smaller room...

  35. Hi, I'm thinking of buying this disc, but in my country they sell this version, a double LPs SONY Legacy in pressing of 2010, list of tracks of the international version. I believe this is a copy of the English Track Records cover from May 1967, you have a Reprise Records US version cover from August 1967. It's about this 2xLPs version, but not Music On Vinyl, a close version but only SONY Legacy, I'll find out a little more: https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/2416762-The-Jimi-Hendrix-Experience-Are-You-Experienced https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Are_You_Experienced#Édition_britannique_et_internationale Edit : I just found the exact version I can buy, it's a SONY Legacy Europe from 2010 repress 2015. I like the photos and the inside booklet and the psychedelic colored disc labels. https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/7577132-The-Jimi-Hendrix-Experience-Are-You-Experienced/image/SW1hZ2U6MjAyNTgyNTY= 😜

  40. On time delay in 1977, referring to his '72 AES paper on the same subject. His studies and others, showed, two, three or 4 milliseconds of time delay are inaudible, provided distortion is low. He just bought a new HP Spectrum Analyzer (that one was a ton of money in the day) to have the sensitivity for him to dig deeper yet into horn throat distortion. What was the alternative to eliminate 0.002 - 0.003 second time delay at that time?????? Align direct radiators to the point of no time delay and get this: "It is just good judgment."

  41. Dope From Hope, notice the date - 1972. To duplicate a reviewer's curve he had to but a speaker in the center of a 4,000 sq. foot room, on a pedestal, with the microphone behind the speaker. Another reviewer that PWK ran across said that distortion increase only slightly with power level and that modulation distortion was "inaudible." Then he goes to point out that tests showed that total distortion was nearly proportional to power level, and that modulation distortion usually exceeds harmonic distortion and that it was certainly audible and "irritating."
