  2. I will say that I experimented quite a bit with my Chorus II. Tried the washer mod, changed out tweeters and x-overs with Crites. I ended up going back to all stock. The Chorus II is pretty much a perfect speaker in stock form. If I ever bought another pair, I would leave them alone.

  3. Gilda was Grreeeaaaat! Get well soon Chuck! Dang I've gotten bad then Willie, three or four ounces a week, and I saw how my fave flavor has gone up $25 since I picked up several of them last spring! Glad I picked up a half a dozen then! After not going above freezing very much at all since Christmas it's 50 here today. First snow in the new home for me will be gone soon. Took this yesterday here in front of the pc, there's a little less now.

  4. That's no fun .. I drank a weeks worth of whiskey last night. No hangover. let's do the math. I have a nip or two almost every day ... I consume about 2] 750ml bottles a year. That's approximately 50 oz per year.... about an ounce a week. LOL

  5. Speaking of a plumber: My day started as usual, I woke up too early (4 am) and I started a load of laundry first thing, right after starting some coffee. All went well until I heard water running, but differently than I would normally hear it. The washing machine's drain was clogged somewhere and the machine, on its rinse cycle, was pumping the second large load of water out and the b@$7@rd didn't care where the water went. Stopped the machine and threw down some large towels to soak some of the water that was on the floor... then it hit me that the spare kitchen downstairs was tied into the same drain. Yes, I had a mess. The laundry and spare kitchen drain is independent of the rest of the house and drains outside. The below-zero and below-freezing for the past few days froze the drain at the opening, something that hasn't happened before.

  7. I bought a stock forte II passive some time ago my plan was to weigh the thing so I can compare it to one of my Chorus II passives to determine how close they are and which one weighs more. If the Chorus passive is the one that weighs more than a forte passive will work with some added weight. If it's the other way around not sure how you'd shave any weight off unless you dug the whole thing out. Now that my Choruses are out of circulation for a bit might pull one of the passives and get some numbers going.

  15. @Pak323 sir, I am the original owner and modifier of those speakers, the original documentation is in 1980 Heresy under the Ask the Historian section. I owned them for 42 years. After the thread I note above, I made three rounds of modifications. I’ll honour the current requirements of this forum and will not mention third party items specifically but here is the gist of the changes, 1 - being raw birch HBR from the factory, I stained them light oak and several coats of clear Varathane in 1980. The smears on the motor board I do not recall, but perhaps I am the culprit although I’ll check for photos of the motor board before they left my house. I am pleased to hear you have the original grills and badges as they were in excellent condition when I sold the speakers in Sept, 2023. Be very careful in sanding the motor board, you should remove the drivers so they don’t get dust in them. Otherwise you’ll need to do a very good job of masking them all before sanding. You can look up the type of black paint Klipsch used when you touch up the sanding. 2 - I cleaned the internal cabinet, sealed all seams and lined with 1/8 inch neoprene using velcro dots to hold in place. I also put neoprene on the back hatch ledge I believe, to help make it air tight. I read everything I could on this and other forums about crossovers at 40 years of age and decided to change the E crossovers out. I used quality parts within my budget. At the time I made the crossover, the current JEM direction was not in place. If you want details on the pieces I selected, PM me and we can discuss. I am ok with a soldering iron, functional not a Michaelangelo. At this time I replaced the back panel terminal blocks with 5 way binding posts. The old capacitors were in good shape and within spec for capacitance but I don’t have an ESR meter so can’t speak to that attribute. The capacitors I selected were well researched, excellent reviews and within budget, aka not $500 each! I used the best solid core inductor I could find, not wanting to switch to a large air core. I purchased a new auto transformer with similar specs to the original. These didn’t have to be done but I wanted to do the whole crossover. The new crossovers brought the speakers back to what I remembered as to original sound, I fully acknowledge builder’s bias and weak sound memory of 40 years prior! 3 - The last Change was to internal wiring as I found some light corrosion on soldered connections on the tweeter. So I changed out all the wiring taking into consideration what I felt was suitable for each specific driver. I wrapped the K-700 horn in adhesive backed felt, the black is simple electrical tape for which I apologize but I wanted a second adhesive. I used tie wraps in other applications and was not pleased with the result. All the drivers were original. All tested within specs, but I did not run any frequency checks. All notions of sound quality are “my ears” and totally subjective. i hope that answered your questions, send a PM if you would like more details . Imagine my surprise when I saw your post and the speakers I once owned. I sold them in Sept 2023 in Victoria BC after I purchased other speakers about which I will remain silent. MC

  18. Some have a problem writing and typing, I sure do. A stroke screwed up my left side and hand, and I forget tapping keys all the way constantly. But usually my point is made without an English lesson from an indoors type.. Just be glad I was once a rocket scientist. I was given a ration of unnecessary sht from someone a few days ago ..not here though. 👌Another day out of bed. Blessed...~Mike

  19. He loaded them all into the FB Epic group, too. Course, that group doesn't really care if you own Epic speakers or not. Seems to be wide open for any models, for buying/selling/flipping, or whatever.

  22. Capacitors can deteriorate with age. A common symptom of a bad capacitor would be if it leaks or if the case is bulging. Other components, such as inductors tend not to be affected by the passage of time. Consequently, it is common to have to replace capacitors on older crossovers. Good capacitors can be had from many sources. @001 is a proponent of ones sold by JEM, but less expensive caps and caps with better specs are available.

  25. …around a black hole. @Khornukopia At first I didn't really like the "carbon fiber" look on the K402, I first saw it in your thread on April 22, 2020. But I like it more and more, actually a very cool look. And certainly not as demanding to do as the wood veneer foils (which always look very well done on your horns).

  27. In that case, I've not listened to the Khorns for a while, so they can go, and a pair of Mahogany KLF30 are not being used (the Mahogany makes them sound better), a pair of Heresy II and since you're bringing a trailer, you get two pair of KP362. How are you on amps? 😁

  31. You haven’t found the right tube amp. The right one will sound fantastic with all genres of music and make you forget about solid state. Not sure where this idea of “tube compression” comes from. Tubes breathe life into music.

  32. Buy a new amplifier that costs twice as much as your speakers... that should be good enough.

  33. Does it only happen when the sub turns on and upon pairing? I know that a lot of Klipsch wireless devices tend to have audible effects when powering and connecting but can be muted using some method or another.

  34. it's OO1 , klipsch supplied capacitors are recommended by klipsch , sold by klipsch , and used by klipsch in all their new speakers , klipsch make these products available to Forum members who wish to restore their crossovers at an affordable price . .@JEM Performance https://jemperformanceaudio.com/capacitor-kits - klipsch capacitors restore the original klipsch sound in older crossovers without requiring to replace additional parts regardless of whether the networks are 40-45-50 years old .

  35. Odd that Klipsch left this driver unsupported. You can by parts for speakers from the 1970s and 1980s. I understand the business end but I come from the auto industry where they make serious profit margins on replacement parts. Just a bit dismayed the first time I called Klipsch parts in 45 years of ownership and the service person tried selling me a woofer because he had no idea what a passive radiator was.

  37. I’m up in Alexandria. I have a pair of Bill Fitzmaurice Tuba Home Theater subs that I’ve had for almost a year. They are absolutely amazing for music and movies. I’m no expert in subwoofer design but I believe the upcoming subs that Klipsch is going to be releasing are similar in design to mine so they’ll go with any Heritage speaker perfectly.

  41. Latest Gil update: Gil is still hospitalized. He is eating normally and is off oxygen, but is still paralyzed on his left side. Mentally he is pretty good, but there are some gaps and things he is confused about. He will be going to a rehab facility soon and will be there for three to four months. What happens after that depends on how much progress he makes during rehab, but it is unlikely that he will be able to live on his own.

  43. It seems like this all happened over a bad break-up. The problem today is are youth are raised with such a spoiled sense of entitlement and are hardly ever told no. They get what they want any time they want it. Then when they hit the real world and learn rejection and that they can not always get their way they can not handle it. So, stuff like this happens. By age 12 I knew rejection and that life was not a walk in the park. My girlfriend dumps me, I call a few friends and get drunk; not purchase a gun and kill 30 people because I could not have my way.

  44. Just because I am pro-american and prefer to buy american does not make me a racist is any way, shape or form. It has nothing to do with nationality. I prefer to support american workers instead of foreign workers. If that american worker is chinese, or any other nationality I am fine with that. As long as he is going to go to help put money back into the american economy. It gets real old real quick when people accuse you of being racist because you choose to buy and support american.
