  2. This is for the Maracas on top of the La Scala’s A song by Peter Allen When my baby When my baby smiles at me I go to Rio De Janeiro, my-oh-me-oh I go wild and then I have to do the Samba And La Bamba Now I`m not the kind of person With a passionate persuasion for dancin` Or roma-ancin` But I give in to the rhythm And my feet follow the beatin` of my hear-eart Woh-ho-oh-oh, when my baby When my baby smiles at me I go to Rio De Janeiro

  3. Just a quick update to say that I was able to successfully repair the woofer. Found a local guy who diagnosed it was an issue with the glue separating from the spider on the cone. He cut the dust cap back during the repairs to help shim it and also found the glue separated from the spider and the coil. $21 for repairs and it’s back up! Thank you for the suggestions and feedback here.

  6. I read that they would give him $466 trade in if he bought a pair at $1050 each. So 2 x 1050-466=1634. At least that's how I read it.

  8. Thanks for chiming in everyone. Very helpful. I have had a lot of speakers, but was kind of an idiot when it came to audio. I kept trying gear and speakers to try something I liked. I never treated my room, so I was always looking for that magic formula. At my old house with a 14x20 room I had Montor Audio GS60s (harsh sounding), Fritz, Elac FS 409s, Elac 407 Black Edition, Proac D48Rs, Tidal Pianos. Most of those speakers were probably pretty good to okay, but again I was naive about room treatment and set up. It is all good, I learned a lot along the way. In 2022 I developed tinnitus and had to find speakers that were smooth but still enjoyable. I found the Warfedale Lintons. I loved them, yes they couldn't do some things that $16 grand Tidal Piano could do, but oddly enough, I enjoyed them more. I just moved to a new house with this huge room, I knew that Lintons couldn't move enough air for this big room so I bought the Polk R700s with the budget I had left after the move. I'm getting the best sound I have ever had, but this room is treated, I have dialed in my cabling and my amp really jives with the R700s, I could seriously live with these. Because of tinnitus, I don't really listen loud and if I do it is not for long periods. The R700s are okay at low listening levels, but really come alive as you juice the volume. I am interested in the Corwalls because I keep reading they sound great at lower volumes. Plus, as mentioned looking for more extension on the guitars. The only time I have ever heard a Klipsch (other than my brothers little bookshelves and those were harsh/bright), was back in 1982. I was just 14 years old. I don't know which model it was, All these years I thought it was always the Klispchhorn, but that is to tall, the ones I heard were shorter/squatier so it may have been a Cornwall. My friends brother dropped the needle on Asia's Heat of the Moment (don't laugh) and I could not believe it, the opening guitar riff, so thick, so alive, so extended! I have always used that track to test speakers and to this day, I have never heard that track sound like it did in 1982.

  10. You are better off with an unmolested pair. If you know what you're doing, some upgrades are good and effective. If you upgrade because you read it on the internet, of because a website sell it, you've probably made a mistake.

  19. Well it was in the 50s yesterday and today! But the cold will come back soon for a lot of us according to what I read. One system to the west one to the east that will funnel the air from the Great White North right down here! I do not know why but when I plugged my pc back to the www after being stored for half a year it updated to a different group of updates that are the more buggy ones that I left a couple years ago. It was in the 2300 level and what I'd been on will not ever jump from 2200 up to there. So I had to reinstall, and maybe the movies I want to watch will cooperate again.

  22. 11AM and 49 degrees in Duckburg this time of the year? Sunny? Groundhog factor? Might have to suit up and do a bit of yardwork leftover from fall. Should be some leaves out there. A few piles already in the street. Sooo, will they call the city to bring the street sweeper out or will they lay and blow elsewhere? The LAST thing I wanna do is break out the blower, lawn sweeper and drive in circles. NM coffee is done. Problem solved.

  25. I own CWIVs but have noticed that the Polk R700 are well reviewed. Many say they’re the best at around $2000. I can’t say whether you'll prefer the Klipsch but I can say that they do what you’re wanting in regards to guitars. I haven’t compared my Cornwalls directly with any non horn modern towers but I did compare the Forte IVs at a Crutchfield store last year. They had the Fortes, some revel towers ($4000) and the Wharfdale Elyesions ($10000). I played Weezer’s ‘In the Garage’ on all three and there was no comparison for me. The guitars were unrestrained and just ripped compared to the other two. Not harsh or beaming, just ALIVE. The kid who worked there said the Fortes were his favorite as well. I would also be surprised if instrument separation isn’t better on the Cornwalls. That is a strong suit as well as drum realism and dynamics.

  29. For sale are my well-maintained Chorus 1 speakers in walnut finish. They are in great condition for their age. I have thoughtfully upgraded them with LMAHLs and refreshed the capacitors to enhance their performance. Additionally, I have the original tweeters available if you prefer stock. I hope to find a new owner who will appreciate and enjoy these speakers as much as I have. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing them. Thank you for your consideration. Local pickup in Magnolia Texas. Cash is king. 1750 with LMAHL'S and stock tweets 20240103_102341_IMG_5180.HEIC

  31. I attended AXPONA 2023 and the speakers that impressed me the most were an open baffle design from Pure Audio Project. There were other speakers that sounded better, but not at the price point. I would love to hear a pair in my own listening space to see if I'm as impressed. In case you're interested in DIY options, here is a link I found interesting. https://abxaudiophiles.org/abx-baffles

  33. That’s on the top end in my opinion. They’d need to be 95+% mint and even then that’s a bit more than I’d pay. $600 is more realistic.

  36. The REL website matched the 212/SX with Khorns, so I went with that. The soundstage is bigger, sometimes wider than the speakers on good recordings. My head snaps around to the location when that happens. The system sound clarity is also better. I listen at lower levels now because of the increased clarity. I have always been happy with the bass from the Khorns but that is where the biggest and most positive change has taken place. My neighbor, a drummer, has always liked the bass of the Khorns but he also loves the improvement in detail and quality. We hear subtle details not heard in familiar recordings before adding the REL. It is not a matter of more bass, the REL is rated to 18Hz. Drums sound different. You really notice the difference between a mallet or stick hit. I feel the texture in the mallet hit that I never did before. The stick hit is a little sharper than w/o the REL. Overall, after and during a listening session l enter a state of complete satisfaction and calmness. I have never quite experienced that before. I thought about 2 RELs, and that may happen. But I have to say, I am wondering how much better the sound can get. I will add the REL Bassline Blue cable for sure. The 212/SX may still be breaking in as the sound has improved over the last two weeks. At this point I do not "need" the second REL but I may want that last little bit of improvement.

  38. Hello Epic Owners, I'm glad I found this group today. I have a pair of Klipsch Epic CF3's that I bought brand new in the Mid-1990's along with a KV-4 center channel and powered sub. I bought these from a place Called "Now Audio Video" in Knoxville, TN when I was in my early twenties. I was poor and had to get em all financed....lol. I've had them stored away for the biggest part of 20 years. I believe I actually still have all the original paperwork and sales receipt stored away somewhere. I'll have to try and get some pics to post and btw...Sorry to resurrect this thread from the grave...lol.

Or any of them for that matter. Any Hope Arkansas city official.
