Mallette
KPWK, Seabrook. Emanates from the second floor music room to provide great music to several blocks in all directions...they seem to always play just what I wanted to hear. stan krajewski
WNYC here in the big apple. I believe owned by the city. Over the years they have played music that very few stations would dare to. Back in the early 80's they introduced me to Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Terry Riley. These minimalist composers were virtually unknown and unplayed. Well, at least here in NYC. I'm eternally grateful for that Although the amount of music played each day has given way to "news" (if you want to call their left wing agenda news), it's still the place to go to hear something new or different. Not far behind is WKCR. I think Columbia Universtity is it's affiliation. About a week ago they had a week long "Benny Goodman" festival. They played all the recorded works that they had in their library.I listened to a small portion of the festival and still was amazed at how much Benny Goodman recorded, how talented he was and how long a period his career spanned. I hope these venues continue to exist. Otherwise, we'll all be listening to the a$$ end of the American Idol assembly line.

seti
89.1 or where ever National Peoples Radio airs. KABF community radio has decent shows but sporadic. Not much in the way of radio here unless you go XM.

bigrfish
WMVY internet radio from Martha's Vineyard, Mass http://www.wmvy.com and MFVR internet radio from Muscle Shoals, Ala http://www.mfvr.com and click on the radio link Both these are good. The second one plays music that is unknown outside the Muscle Shoals recording community, so is a bit cultish, but not in a bad way.
