Mornin' kids!

1rst cup, workout and commute complete.  Sippin' from the travel mug at the office (still a member of the working class, unfortunately).

Should be a fine day with a high of 64, despite the threat of the impending final "winter storm" of the season, as the news reports.  Only in SoCal does the mere chance of some form of precipitation, which is usually little more than a mist, make headline news.

Then......leaving LF's house I was pulled over by HP for a rolling stop at the neighborhood stop sign that goes onto the main public highway. $238 ticket. Talked with Earl a bit about options. Don't want points

Did Earl tell you that you have the option of stopping whenever you approach those signs?  Sorry buddy just a little salt for the wound...I'm a veteran of many a ticket...including one just like you received and mine was right in front of my house.

Did you ask the cop to give you Klipsch Forum Warning Points instead of a ticket?

Tickets suck, a rolling stop in a subdivision, but with everyone driving talking and texting, they will just look the other way. Came up to a red light the other day and in the next lane they just drove on through as they stared at a phone, just luck no one was crossing.

Dang a $238 dollar ticket for that? Holy smokes!

I got a higher one for going 90 miles per! Not much higher.

Actually was going just 78 with cruise control on.

HP also! They have a rep for writing tickets with

every stop.

Got my rap down to fight it but.................still deciding.

I need a drink...of coffee... :)

My mother one time gave my dad a couple of tablespoon full of body lotion, thinking it was Maalox.

Dad had a hard time rationalizing it was Maalox due to it's unique taste after the first spoonful Got a good laugh out of it anyway. They may have called poison control, can't remember. Cured the problem though, heartburn that is.

Coffee for everyone! :)

That's funny.

Helping my elderly Aunt once prepare for the annual Fourth of July BBQ.  They would dig a hole in the yard and use white oak.  Put big hunks of meat on these metal rods. She would put rock salt on the meat before cooking.  She asked me to get the salt one time.  I grabbed the bag and said, "is this it?"  She said yes. I then said, "this isn't fit for human consumption." She laughed and I told her I was serious and showed her the warning.  She shrugged her shoulders and said "I've been using that exact stuff for the past 30 years."

we used it that day...we all lived. The way I've lived...and I'm not the worst of the bunch--maybe that explains it.

No C&C posts today??! Happy late Tues. a.m. guys. Other than getting new outdoor carpeting installed under the covered part of the patio, it's a slow day at the ranch. The install crew is still here. Will report the results back later.

Never tried rock salt on roasted meat before, billybob. I guess if the meat was overcooked, you could roll it around your driveway to melt the snow. The worst I've almost done is almost putting hydrocortisone cream on a toothbrush. Glad I caught that one in time.

Cheers.

That's classic... The wife keeps hand soap right next the toothpaste on the bathroom sink, and they are fairly similar in size and shape.  I am not a morning person, and when I get up, I am still 3/4 asleep when I reach the sink.  I have on occasion reached for the soap, but fortunately have caught myself.  The older I get, the more I fear my lucky streak will eventually come to an end.

Rock salt on food?  Yuck!  That stuff is dug right out of the ground and could have all kinds of dirt and stuff leached into it.  I'd go with sea salt or kosher salt if you like the bigger chunks.

Sounds like they survived their 4th of July just fine though!  I think there were probably better things to worry about at some of our family 4th of July get togethers.

Good afternoon/Evening Gang

Sitting down in the Cigar Lounge

Nice and quite around Reno area after all these games are over  :emotion-21:

Pressure washed entire Hanger today, left stacked blowers running throughout the night tonight.

Lighting in the AM painting later this week.

Looks like everyone is hanging in there,

Wokeup to a slightly smoking laptop this morning (Batt) threw it out.

Ok, so I don't drink coffee....and my cables are pedestrian Mogami....

For you coffee lovers, my wife has a girlfriend.  The gal has more money than sense.  When her mother passed, she received some inheritance.  Of this money, she spent $250,000 on a fancier than fancy diamond ring (my wife helped her select the mounting and stone)

I digress....

Anyways, she had a fancy coffee machine (Jura Impressa F9) that she was going to replace.  Saying something like "I don't even know if it works".  My wife saw it and said that SHE'D take it....after all, she's got a husband that can "fix anything" (very tongue in cheek)

So it arrived.  I found several aspects of this machine annoying.

First:  I was unable to simply go to the internet to get a schematic of it.

Second:  it uses Torx head screws.  Fine, I have Torx drivers.

Third:  On the rear of it, the back panel is held on with four oval head screws.  Not a slot, not a phillips but an essentially round (slightly ovaled) pin that sticks out.  It requires a special screw driver.

Fourth:  They wanted something like $15/$20 for the special screw driver, they also wanted something like $40 for the manual

My wife said this was an approximate $1,500 coffee maker and I should go ahead and get the screw driver and manual.  I said I don't need the manual....taking it apart is easy.  I'll know once I get it apart if I need the manual to figure out how to get it back together.  I'll wait.

As for that ornery oval head set of screws....  I've got a tight grip and some good pliers that will bite onto them and I'll let persistence prevail.

Ok, so I get the machine apart.  Seems it was leaking in several places.

Cutting to the chase, the front of the machine has the output spouts.  Behind them was a pile up of coffee "muck" preventing the liquid from simply passing through to the cup below.  Cleaned that out, put it back together and it was still leaking.

There is a pressure regulator in there, much like you might have on a propane tank though of course, much smaller.  This was leaking.

Ordered a new pressure regulator ($50) slapped it all together and it works like a charm.

Didn't have to buy a service manual, didn't have to buy the special oval head wrench and the wife is absolutely nutty over her new coffee.  Says she looks for excuses to make some every day.  This thing holds the beans and water so with a touch of a button, will take it from the grinder to the cup.

She would have never bought something as fancy as this.  (nor would I for her)

She is however, in coffee heaven right now.

no fair making fun of dead people.  It was probably the “Jackass” that kept us alive.  Take the stuff from the bottom of a wine barrel and run through a still -- strongest stuff you’ll ever drink.  We called it the Jackass and even the old folks did shots of it. Fun times.
