USNRET
FINE trip to the county tax assessor to pick up a disabled placard for my 12 year old (broken ankles). Went on line, downloaded form, went to Dr to get his part filled in and a prescription for the placard. Off I go across town with all the paper work and her military dependent ID Stand in line and when my turn comes I am summarily dismissed because: 1) she didn't sign the form (eh, that part says that I am applying for a minor and the signature is not yet there since I thought you might like me to sign in person) 2) I didn't bring her driver's license (again she's 12) 3) here is her U.S. f'inng government DoD military ID 4) We don't accept those here, be off with yourself SIGH Guess I'll need someone to tell this ignorant guy how to fill out this form I was handed. The line outs were made by the 'window lady' I think I need to give myself permission to do something. Placard.pdf

We spent the day at TX childrens hospital today With my daughter. We actually visited with the same surgeon who put in her VP shunt when she was about a month old, she's 18 now. Gotta love continuity of care. We're going back tomorrow for her to undergo a surgery to find out why she's having pain and bad inflammation at a site on her abdomen that the Dr. used to install the lower part of her shunt. The funny thing is that she had a revision 8 years ago and the incision site has been perfect up till about 2 weeks ago. Who knows. Hopefully it will be a same day surgery put we'll pack clothes for a couple days just in case. Good luck Carl and Carlette; ain't no body got time for a hospital

I'm sure you meant presence and there's no way anyone could keep me from being there. When she was a baby and in ICU for 45 days, either my wife or I were with her every minute the department would let us in.

oldtimer
There's a tortilla factory about a mile from the house. You buy a stack of white corn goodness and they are kept warm through and through and they're pure heaven. I've never had better in all of my life and there they are just down the road. All hail taco Tuesday! Tortilleria Tierra Calliente

USNRET
and I have the pleasure of enduring a concert featuring 5SOS in San Antonio with my tweener daughter tomorrow night without the benefits of slushies and then the normal awakening at 0430 for work after a 3 hour drive back. Mayhaps there is a great abundance of moms attending. Noise cancelling headphones and foamy ear plugs in the packup.

Very cool of you to do this...she won’t forget things like that. My kids wouldn’t have let me near them at that age. But then maybe you don’t embarrass her.

JL Sargent
Mike, how is your daughter doing with her recovery? Carl, Best wishes with Amy too! Mark, glad your doing better. You guys have all kinds of stuff going on.
CECAA850
Thanks to all the well wishes. We started the day up at 4 and on the road at 430. Checked in at 530. Amy's surgery was scheduled for 730 so we were in pre op at 645. As luck would have it we got the only one of 12 or so operating rooms with a broken anesthesia computer. They wheeled her back at 910 so we just basically sat and waited the whole time. Now it's time to eat and have some coffee!
