thebes Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 " Cables" (what do cables have to do with audio) "The Beatles" (what do The Beatles have to do with good sounding audio) "Synergy" (try this: "they sound better together") "Streaming" (my bladders already weak enough) "EQ" (first all acronyms are the providence of the pretentious, second, it's really just a fancy form of tone control so call it that) "DAC" (see above and it sounds too much like something you'd step on) "Cartridge" ("needle" has 3 less letters) "Digital" (what does digital have to do with real audio) "thebes" (when it comes to audio it should be changed to all caps ie THEBES, or THEBES!) 1 Quote
Mallette Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) "Cartridge" ("needle" has 3 less letters) Stylus is a bit more accurate at the same count. "Styli" is 4 letters less and provides for backup. Thebes is a ruined temple to a forgotten god. Happy New Year... Dave Edited January 1, 2015 by Mallette Quote

JJkizak Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 A good thing they used a stamped gold record on the Voyager probe, the bad guys would never figure that out. If it was digital we would be in trouble. JJK Quote
wvu80 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 "Cartridge" ("needle" has 3 less letters) "Cartridge" "Cart," as in "I got a new cart." It always leaves me wondering "did you also get a new donkey with that new cart?" Quote

thebes Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 Thebes is a ruined temple to a forgotten god. LOL! I feel that way almost every morning. Two other audio words that really should go: "Neutral". It's audio not a car for cryin out loud. How about "disappears" even though it has more letters. "Black" Too much room for confusion. Are we say talking about "brooding" or "noirish" or "scary", "silent" or "African American" Quote

ChuckAb3 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 here ya go ... "Amazing" - it's the new "awesome". Ditch both. Not every idiot who writes a flavor of the month song is amazing. Nor is the output of said writing. 1 Quote
oldenough Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Three more that need using less. Hero. Miracle. Thank god. (especially in the context of a disaster, where others perished) Sorry just realised this is for "audio" related terms....my bad. Edited January 3, 2015 by oldenough Quote
